Son distintos, Mera canta un par de tonos más abajo de lo que está escrita la partitura original, pero lo hace con tal delicadeza que al escucharlo a uno le parece estar en el cielo. Jaroussky es la perfección absoluta. Me encantan los dos.
These are two of my favorite countertenors -- and their voices are quite different in some ways. Jaroussky brings a sense of purity and (almost) innocence that can be quite touching in the right role; Mera offers more of a mature richness and nuance of emotion. Jaroussky would be my choice to sing the role of a passionate young man; Mera would be the superior voice, though, for a more experienced, more reflective, and/or more androgynous role.
@kozzzh and Denis Chmielensky with his a little boy, a little woman, a little man voice (he could sing only some pieces and murdered another but it was a special phenomenon)
I used to be a fan of Jaroussky, but i must admit that Mera sings way more beautiful. At least for me, i like Mera's voice dexterity and vibrato more. :)
Whatever has happened to Mera? He doesn't seem to have been heard of for years. Is he still singing. I think he's outclassed here by Jaroussky, even though I'm not a particular fan of his.
The two conductors must be channeling Furtwängler--I have seldom heard slower tempi. Both these singers do well in terms of producing a lovely tone, but both could do better in terms of connecting with the material, dramatically speaking--this is supposed to be more than a pretty song.
PJ doesn't even deserve to be mentioned. Mera's version is very good, but in my opinion a bit too tranquil, a bit too beautiful. This aria is not about sheer beauty, but about Almirena's cruel fate, suffering. I would like to hear more tragic notes. The best versions are Cencic's, Marian's and Manzotti's. But the voice is very beautiful!

I am being serious! Anal sex is wonderful! Makes you come one step closer to the eternal question why you are here...
My answer is personal and will only be given to Jaroussky or Mera. But I doubt they will contact me at all.
Have a niece evening and don´t forget to enjoy you existance!

It seems the tempo is very slow in both renditions, just falling asleep at the end.
