beautiful song - never dreamed that i would ever see my idol sing my favourite song - saw ham in 2008,9 and 10 in Denmark and Norway. This was probably the last opportunity to see him live..... Absolutely wonderful

...das war genau das lied, nach dem sich die ganze arena zu minutenlangen standing ovations erhob - mitten im konzert. bis die stimme einer der webb sisters mit dem beginn des nächsten lieds einsetzte " oh, crown of light, oh darkened one...". ich stand auf der tribüne inmitten von fremden und konnte spüren, wie es mich und jeden einzelnen umgehauen hat. the concert of my life.

In 1979 I saw him in Bremen and 31 years later again in Hamburg... it was truly a night of memories, goosebumps and tears of joy...what an amazing experience!!! he is a superb artist and a wonderful person!

Well, in the original he sings "then the soldiers came", so the question is why did he sing "the Germans came" in Stockholm, rather than the other way round. Also, he sings "les Allemands étaint chez moi", so the connection to Germans is clear. I think LC and his (German) fans can distinguish between Nazis and Wehrmacht soldiers from the War and today's Germans, the overwhelming majority of which are anti-Nazi. This is clear when he sings about his "friends" "some of them are with me tonight".

Der Song war im Sommer 08 noch nicht im Programm. Schade, dass es offenbar keine bessere Aufnahme aus HH gibt, der Moment war unbeschreiblich.
