@1991favre Good luck with that! I don't think ANYONE will be as durable as he was or make the type of passes he maked. Don't get me wrong, I love Aaron Rodgers and he's having a incredible year and career so far but, he's been known to get concussions (something Brett didn't get for 19 years out of his 20 year career). In other ways he's better than Favre in his early years. Brett made alot of stupid mistakes, Aaron doesn't..He never won Super Bowl MVP, Aaron has.

Rodgers and favre remind me of Joe montanna and Steve young. Obviously not as great as them but just because the backup qb's ended up really good also
I watched this video over and over again and I cried, over and over again. Like most of us, I wish he'd have gone out like this...as our big brother, our son. So betrayed many of us true Cheeseheads were when he went to the Jets, then slapped us in the face a MN Viking. It's strange, because I spent the last few seasons resenting and hating him, But watching this, I'd like to think that he truly meant what he said. And I still think there was no better place for him than with the GB Packers.
I agree he really should have stuck to this. And what did he do after coming back? Extend some records, and MAYBE make a couple of them unreachable. He went to the NFC Championship with the Vikings, but that's not what he came back to do. He came back to win the Super Bowl, and he didn't. I mean he just shouldn't have ruined his legacy in such an awful way.

@amazin465- (cont) You wouldn't want to be paid nothing or even a few thousand dollars per year after having a job of entertaining people, right? You are supplying entertainment/pleasure to their fans. The fan has to pay. @neetrab nfl players dont NEED all that money to "put food on the table". and i like seeing him have FUN when he plays. whenever he got a td, hed sprint up to the receiver and jump on him, and hed be all pumped, for the spirit of the game. and its honestly no ones business if he reitres or not. its what he wants to do, you honestly shouldnt care if he wants to keep having fun.

ok trolls if u really listened he pretty much said without saying it that he was gonna come back idgaf wat u trolls gotta say my favortie team is the colts but brett farve will always remain the greatest qb to ever play ur just pissed cause he left to minnesota and he burt the fuck outta the pack pree much ever time they played so stfu only qb to ever beat all nfl teams!
I have had the great honor to meet him several times as Lambeau, it's only 10 minutes from where I live, I will never judge him, he was the best player in my generation and either good or bad, put a smile on my face:)
@graveyard090 - I totally agree. This dude is so overrated it's crazy. Anybody can match his records if they were in the league for 400 years just like him. People are right though.. He is legendary... a legendary ARROGANT, SELFISH, (fill in the rest)
@Rotneybot no he was a legend then he ruined his career because he thinks that he can play forever which he cant other players are smart an retire when it is there time so dont call me disrespectful, hes disrespecting people by repedetly telling the press that he is retiring with the fake tears and then signing with another team and looking like an idiot.
I have no problems with Brett Favre's decision to keep playing. It was his choice. What bothered me was the backlash towards Ted Thompson. If Favre is to have no loyalty to Green Bay, why should we except Thompson to have loyalty to Brett Favre. Football is a business. Thompson's only job is to win Super Bowls. He saw the future and that future was Aaron Rodgers. And if Thompson keeps his job long enough, he will have to make the same decision involving Rodgers. That's football.
the people who bash on this guy for leaving the packers is a total jackass. i am a green bay fan and always will be. he should have left sure. but the man gave us packer fans some amazing memories. this guy is one of the reasons we love packer football. he is a legend. no matter who he played for after the packers. he will always be a packer. favre 4 ever
Nobody should diss Brett Favre I bet all those bad things news people say are not true and they just want more damn money which is all the world wants today. Favre played his sport for the simplest reason the love of the game. Don't believe everything your gay little news reports tell you
@kingalex505 You know, thinking back on it we should've picked up on the possibility he wasn't finished for good. He's far too emotional at that point then he was when he retired for good last year.
@packerfan7121992 shut the FUCK up. y do u packer fans hate on favre. be fuckin happy. he gave u the best years of his life, u ungrateful son of a bitch
@packerfan7121992 Dude you're a fucking fag... were the Packers NEVER suppose to win a super bowl without him?? its not like we won it the year we traded him, and if i recall, we went 6-10... yeah that's something to brag about. you're fucking pathetic
i disagree..you don't love an athlete for being loyal to a team or franchise..you love an athlete because of the passion and ability that player has no matter who or hen he plays.....people need to get that through their heads
Used to love him. But I listened to this speech on the way to Green Bay after my Mom died - from Alzheimers She had not recognized me for almost 2 years. I was crying all the way down, feeling guilty becauae I loved my Mom, but loved Brett as well. But then he goes on to to do what he did. Will take me some time to recover from that...
it was all about the money..of course little did ted and mike know favre would basically lead the viks to a super bowl appearance two years later..the emotions from that guy if you know how to read emotions are....they knew he was dispensable at the moment so they got rid of them...in 2008 i still think something magical could have happened and alot of people forgot that, but i guess without that year for rodgers to build we wouldn't be football champs now would we? its rhetorical people
Part 6. So the "clown" here is Favre, who was PHYSICALLY great, but mentally weak. He was weak his whole career. The Packers turned themselves into one of the best franchises for the past two decades, and Favre was ONE COMPONENT. The Packers drafted and trained QB's that spun off to other teams that they COULD HAVE replaced Favre with, as they almost DID in 1994, and likely would have had as much success in the 90's as they had. The Packers made Favre who he was, and he shit on them in return.
Part 5. And what happened? He got EXACTLY what he wanted - a West Coast Offense team, filled with buddies, and built "correctly" through free agency. And HE killed his team's chances yet again. And just one year later the Pack win it all the "wrong" way and are one of the most talented, yound, and thrifty teams in the NFL with a bright future. IF Thompson HAD done it Favre's way, the stacked odds would say the Packers would have crashed and be the complete opposite of what they are now.
Part 4. So for nearly THREE YEARS Favre waffled, which was bad enough, but that waffling was just a PART OF his game playing and whining when Ted Thompson refused to do as he was told. Then the protracted divorce in which Favre loudly bashed the team that he owed so much, and then he worked his way over to a bitter rival for the express purpose of revenge.
Part 3. Add on top of all this loveliness, that The Great One, with one of the best teams in football from 1992-2007 which he CONTRIBUTED TO, and was one of the best teams in the NFC (once Indy and NE ascended to the tops spots of the NFL) in the 2000's Favre had a lovely 63 QB rating in FIVE playoff exits for the Packers. He just couldn't get it done in critical games. And he was insisting on dictating to the team what to do - to be the GM.
Part 2. So it doesn't sound like he really retired to me. And when the Packers were prepared to move on without him without the level of grief and tears he expected, and "closed the door", he IMMEDIATELY began pinging other teams for his Revenge Campaign, especially the Vikings, and calculatedly tried to get out of his contract to go to the Vikings to "stick it" to the team. Is it ANY COINCIDENCE that as soon as the Packers allocated Favre's cap space he announced his comeback?
Well how about I "clown him" for trying to dictate to the Packers how they needed to build the team? Favre wanted the team filled with his buddies - on the field and on the sidelines, and he wanted hand selected additions through free agency. When he didn't get it, he "retired" ONE day after the Packers "failed" to sign Randy Moss per his instruction. And he said himself that what tore it for him is when the Packers drafted 2 QB's in the draft and "closed the door on me".
all u guys can clown him for throwin numerous int's and never making up his mind. but he did it because he fuckin LOVES football. hes willing to die out their for his team, he litterly plays every game like its his last. his passion and heart for the game cant be measured. meanwhile u have guys like jay quitler and tomitha brady who wouldnt finish a game if they broke a nail.
Fuck all you farve haters! People talk about the nude pictures, but no one talks about the "great" Michael Irvin's Concaine posseion! Farve was one of the greatest QBs of all time! But,you cocksuckers wil hop on bandwagon of Aaron Rodgers like you will his dick! P.S Im a saints fan
@brybrythespidey Bandwagon? Rodgers just won a super bowl, in case you didn't notice. It's not hopping on the bandwagon to say that a statistically incredible, Super Bowl MVP quarterback is great and a worthy replacement for Brett.
I mean, Brett was good and gave a lot of great years to Green Bay, but in the end, his legacy may well be eclipsed by Rodgers.
"i promised i wouldn't get emotional" well it aint possible if u is a big PUSSY! HEY WHO FUCKED UP A YEAR AGO FOR THE VIKINGS! BRET FAVRE FUCKED UP, YEA, FAVRE FUCKED UP AND LOST THE GAME AND A TRIP TO THE SUPER BOWL! WHY ??? HE IS A BIG FAT FUCKIN OLD SKANKY DRIED UP PUSSY!!! its great knowing in retrospect that this is all bullSHIT. I WAS RIGHT ufags were and was so stupid and wrooooong. LOL
Bret made his choice to leave the packers he did it he loved it. when you love something its hard to walk away. any of you would have done the same. sure he some bad things who hasent.none of you can say you haven't done something bad. he went to the vikings doing what he loved Bret i respect we respect you.
Brett should have stuck with this decision. He would have been on the sideline on Sunday, in a management role, number retired and loved as much as Bart Starr.
@artcarmark yeah it's easy for you to say...but i'm sure you made every right decision in your life right? i'm sure you're the all-mr. perfect-person. if you love playing football and/or working as much as he did...i'm sure you would have wanted to keep playing. talk is cheap, but if the man wants to play football, who cares for what team it is. look no further than michael jordan
@artcarmark cuz its all about fame right? dumbass, he wasn't in it for the fame, he just loved to play and if most Packer fans, besides a few like myself, don't want to forgive him then fuck all of you cuz he didn't do ANYTHING wrong. And his number will be retired, don't be fucking retarded.
@artcarmark FUCK YOU! He still had it in him as he proved with the Vikings and you Packer faggots just dumped him off like a piece of trash. Your organization is a disgrace.
@huston8823 My disgraced organization is the defending Super Bowl Champions and one of the youngest teams in the league. The Packers are 3-1 in the Super Bowl, with 12 Championships. The rest of the NFC North is 1-5. Football is a business and Ted Thompson is running that business pretty well.
both qb's have one championship. favre has thrown the most interceptions in the history of the game. lol. not good. I think everybody knows that favre is overrated.
@hockeyfanredwings His positives out way his negatives and what are you like five? Do you even know what brett was like in his prime? Ur just a hater who don't like favre for his own reason. If you can't respect what he has done in his 20 year career then you just like to hate, and i can tell you do by all the comments you leave on favre, for not likeing him so much, u sure do spend alot of time writing about him. Like ur hate is actually gonna afect hime. Do u have a life?
Favre never was that good. too many interceptions. very overrated quarterback. Glad he had to sit at home and watch a real quarterback, Aaron Rodgers, parade around Dallas AND green bay with the trophy! Nice!
@ThaDon419 Brett won't be shoving me in the cum cauldrons of hot slutty cheerleaders anymore. I won't miss that. Maybe he'll stuff me up the guano geysers of some hot buddies of his! I have a wart.
This guy made a lot of great plays but also made a lot of terrible plays. With Favre you take the good with the bad. I will say that I think Rodgers is a smarter QB and more skilled. He's already won a Super Bowl and basically put the Packers on his back more than Favre has done. Rodgers is more accurate and more mobile.
Good luck throwing balls next season at Tennessee or Jacksonville, Brett. Green Bay has a new winner in town. Aaron Rodgers will be multiple Super Bowl winner with the Packers and he's the guy that Green Bay deserves right now.
I'm a die hard packers fan and Brett should have waited a couple months after that season to make his decision, but he screwed up and the pack had to move forward. I don't agree with his decision to go to the Jets or the Vikings, but as far as I'm concerned Brett Favre is a Packer and is always welcome in Green Bay. Thanks for the great years brett....wish we could have given you someone better to throw to than antonio freeman
@hockeyfanredwings oh yeah I guess we should just make fun of him for crying when he's leaving something he loves to do and has done it since he was a little boy. Let's just poke fun at Larry Bird, Joe Sakic, and wayne gretzky, too. hell, lets fuck with magic for having aids
I also make fun of him because he has thrown the most interceptions in the history of the game. wow. I repeat myself. the most interceptions in the history of the game.
@hockeyfanredwings as well as most touchdown passes, most completions, most passing yards, most games started consecutively, 11 time pro bowler, and 3 time MVP....you tell me which is more noteworthy. stick to your figure skating cocksucker
This is the Brett I loved. If he had just left his career like this, he would have been remembered by Packer fans - all of them, not just the Favre fans - as a hero. I can't say I blame him for not wanting to give it all up, but it's a shame that he's tarnished his name the way he has.
@neetrab actually i kind of did but now that i see how good rodgers is i can really see their point.i do remember wondering why packers fans where upset that the team wouldnt let them keep hanging every single year while loosing their future guy in the process.
let me get this str8..some of you are calling a qb that once stood up against the likes of warren sapp, john randle and other former dl beasts a pussy? really......
u gotta look close @ what i said..to answer ur question, no..but also, as men, i know we all sin and make mistakes, and it's how u change that, get right, and bounce back from things, not let it hold u down..not what i said: i said "as a model PLAYER," to learn from ON THE FIELD..i didnt say nething about kids following some1 else as a man, i said kids/people in all sport should look to #4 to b a model player and teammate, w/ giving your all n work ethic..think most respected in sport wuld agree
Think u can see how hard it was for him, and why it was so hard..think u can see why he came back multiple times..think u can see what a great teammate he was; think u can see how great and passionate #4 is as a man, think u can see why he is so loved and is a legend..think u can see why if kids and people in ALL sport should pick one person to immulate, and learn from, as a teammate and model player, it should be #4... think u can see his LOVE for the game
to me its not the superbowl, the records, or even the passion for the game, its how much we all love and hate favre at the same time hes like a modern day george blanda
I'm tired of people bashing Farve. Especially people who's never played a sport with such passion. It's one of the most hardest thing's to do in life is to give up on something you love because of your age, nothing can come close to that feeling. Nobody brings passion to the game as Farve did. The Media used him as a money-pit when he's doing great they love him.. When it's bad they will find anything to talk about him.. He will be missed greatly in Wisconsin.
around :37 he is saying to himself"dude, this is going to be so fucking funny when i see there reaction with me in a jets uniform, lol ... and a vikings uniform ... and maybe some more but i guess i will think about it"!
around :37 he is saying to himself"dude, this is going to be so fucking funny when i see there reaction with me in a jets uniform, lol ... and a vikings uniform ... and maybe some more but i guess i will think about it!"
@hockeyfanredwings Seriously bro? You think Favre is a pussy? Cause a streak of starting almost 300 games at the toughest position in the leauge is TOTALLY the sign of a pussy. Think before you talk shit dumbass.
favre was too scared to go up against Suh today. that is soft. speaks volumes about how much of a pussy favre really is. what an embarrassing way to go out. on the sidelines too scared to man up against the beast out of Nebraska.
@hockeyfanredwings He wasn't scared of anyone. A man who plays almost 300 straight games at the QB position is not a pussy. Sure it was an embarassing way to go out, I sure as hell didn't wanna see him go out like that. The reason he was out was because of a concussion. I'd like to see you play quaterback at a pro level with a concussion.
Why are people hating on Favre? So what if he came out of retirement, why is that a problem? I mean Michael Jordan did it twice, but nobody is hating on him for that, and Favre retired twice by himself, and was CONVINCED by his teamates to return again, so dnt hate Favre for returning this year, hate Jared Allen, Steve Hutchinson, and Adrian Peterson the 3 players that CONVINCED Favre to stay!
@dhart1977 no, he misses training camp remember? its more like "In today's sports news... Holy shit, 60-year old Brett Favre has decided he remembers the playbook and will strap on a helmet while joining the Bears 3 days before their first game."
@dhart1977 2031 " today as Brett Farve was useing his walker to get onto the field when all of a sudden a fan ran up to him and grabbed his walker, and he fell face first into the ground. We will miss Brett Farve as he was a great actor on and off...........no just on the field. Along with his 2,000,000 injuries he suffered during the NFL season it didn't take effect in his 105 y/o body. We love you...................FOX SPORTS
Brett I'm a bears fan but man I love you buddy .. thanks for the memories, and if you want come help the bears find a quarterback .god bless you..

That's football.
artcarmark 6 months ago
the people who bash on this guy for leaving the packers is a total jackass. i am a green bay fan and always will be. he should have left sure. but the man gave us packer fans some amazing memories. this guy is one of the reasons we love packer football. he is a legend. no matter who he played for after the packers. he will always be a packer. favre 4 ever

WarEagle140 7 months ago
i disagree..you don't love an athlete for being loyal to a team or franchise..you love an athlete because of the passion and ability that player has no matter who or hen he plays.....people need to get that through their heads
arodgerdodger 7 months ago 2
Used to love him. But I listened to this speech on the way to Green Bay after my Mom died - from Alzheimers She had not recognized me for almost 2 years. I was crying all the way down, feeling guilty becauae I loved my Mom, but loved Brett as well. But then he goes on to to do what he did. Will take me some time to recover from that...
pmurphy5657 8 months ago
it was all about the money..of course little did ted and mike know favre would basically lead the viks to a super bowl appearance two years later..the emotions from that guy if you know how to read emotions are....they knew he was dispensable at the moment so they got rid of them...in 2008 i still think something magical could have happened and alot of people forgot that, but i guess without that year for rodgers to build we wouldn't be football champs now would we? its rhetorical people
arodgerdodger 8 months ago
The Packers made Favre who he was, and he shit on them in return.
toolkien 8 months ago
IF Thompson HAD done it Favre's way, the stacked odds would say the Packers would have crashed and be the complete opposite of what they are now.
toolkien 8 months ago
Part 4. So for nearly THREE YEARS Favre waffled, which was bad enough, but that waffling was just a PART OF his game playing and whining when Ted Thompson refused to do as he was told. Then the protracted divorce in which Favre loudly bashed the team that he owed so much, and then he worked his way over to a bitter rival for the express purpose of revenge.
toolkien 8 months ago
And he was insisting on dictating to the team what to do - to be the GM.
toolkien 8 months ago
Is it ANY COINCIDENCE that as soon as the Packers allocated Favre's cap space he announced his comeback?
toolkien 8 months ago
Well how about I "clown him" for trying to dictate to the Packers how they needed to build the team? Favre wanted the team filled with his buddies - on the field and on the sidelines, and he wanted hand selected additions through free agency. When he didn't get it, he "retired" ONE day after the Packers "failed" to sign Randy Moss per his instruction. And he said himself that what tore it for him is when the Packers drafted 2 QB's in the draft and "closed the door on me".
toolkien 8 months ago
all u guys can clown him for throwin numerous int's and never making up his mind. but he did it because he fuckin LOVES football. hes willing to die out their for his team, he litterly plays every game like its his last. his passion and heart for the game cant be measured. meanwhile u have guys like jay quitler and tomitha brady who wouldnt finish a game if they broke a nail.

brybrythespidey 9 months ago
@brybrythespidey Bandwagon? Rodgers just won a super bowl, in case you didn't notice. It's not hopping on the bandwagon to say that a statistically incredible, Super Bowl MVP quarterback is great and a worthy replacement for Brett.
I mean, Brett was good and gave a lot of great years to Green Bay, but in the end, his legacy may well be eclipsed by Rodgers.

I'm a die hard packers fan and Brett should have waited a couple months after that season to make his decision, but he screwed up and the pack had to move forward.
