One word. SICK!!! That's figgin' insanely sick, RR. BTW, has anyone told you that you look like LL Cool J? Total crappin' compliment. Dude is completely hot! So are you. This is an obvious fact. My girl Maria (Hickey) thinks you're the whip, too. She's got taste. Also, true! Good stuff! Thanks!
We just saw him in Allentown, PA. There couldn't have been more than 100 people showed up. I thought when he saw the turnout he wouldn't be into it that much. They played like they were in MSG. Since the first time I heard them, they have become my favorite band. And I can't believe how few people know about them.
@johnsonlimo they DID rock Allentown that night !! was honored to be there, esp. considering I heard them for the first time only a few days before they would be at Croc Rocks, only an hour away from home!!...had no idea what I was in store for...this music is life-changing
ive played with robert randolph. i was in the audience and he just randomly asked me to play with him. got to jam with him on guitar for a whole frickin song. one of the most amazing experiences ever.
Man, they are called commas and periods you retard. Learn to use them, then African American sacred steel people might understand you're inbred chatter.
If you're going to be a pedant, the least you can do is follow your own advice.

I saw them 09/25/09 in KC (the crossroad) and it of course was awesome. Small outside venue...open seating. We strolled right up front center about an hour before the show started, RR and family are awesome.
That guy who played that stupid 5 second guitar solo near the end stinks. He played so out of the mood, it was sad. That guy has no right to solo like that, it made RR look bad, so he had to beast his solo to make up for the suckishness. But to end on a good note, Robert Randolph and the Family Band ROCK!
What annoys steel players is the music press. Some don't even know what a pedal steel is. Calling it, in Robert's case, slide guitar. He does a lot of non-pedal work, though. They also describe him as `the greatest steel player in the world`. Not in my opinion, but opinions are subjective. They'll not likely have heard of Emmons, Franklin et al.
A lot of steel guitar players get snooty about RR. They only see the pedal steel as a country music instrument. I like it all. E9th for country, C6th for jazz and Sacred steel tuning for this. And if that is not a generalisation, I don't know what is.
The only steel guitar players that get snooty about Robert Randolph are guys that are vastly inferior to him. The rest of them love the shit out of what he's doing. Jealousy makes people talk shit, that's all there is to it.
I saw them live about 5 years ago. It was a small college, so it was really personal, could walk right up to the stage. The are absolutely incredible!
What a style. High energy good stuff.

Fantastic, but too bad Lenesha's M.I.A. Her backing vocals give me shivers.
