Saw Cornell on tour this spring. What's a trip is that he was taller than me, about 6'2" or 6'3". Anyway, he played a bunch of Soundgarden tunes as well as those other things he did (and for all you guitarists buying those stupid TAB books, STOP - they aren't written right; Cornell said they wrote those with weird tunings, so the chords might not theoretically exist). Anyway, he did this thing with feedback on a guitar, man, and it took the Hendrix thing to a whole new level, WOW.

When you compare Badmotorfinger to the last two albums, it's no surprise that for the last 2 albums Cornell wrote the lyrics AND nearly all the music. The music took on an identity suddenly that surpassed just being "grunge" to something approaching "art music". That's no small feat. Excellent statement about social paradoxes. This music is just genius, too. Anyone hear how Soundgarden's coming back together? Can't wait to hear Thayil w/ Cornell again because no way could Audioslave have reached this artistic height - those last 2 SG albums? They're up there with Sabbath, yes, and with Floyd, too. This is a classic album. Surprised A&M records has not re-issued the vinyl record. I would love to get my hands on it for an affordable price. As far as mastering of this record goes. The instruments and vocals all come through very clearly. At this point it sounds good the way it is.I do not know why people compare Alice in Chains,Nirvana,Pearl Jam, STP and the other great 90's rock bands. They all sound different from one another.Just enjoy the music they have created for us.

like nirvana are more punk, soundgarden just straightforward rock(although they have some punk songs like kickstand,ty cobb,circle of power,etc)but they are heavy two from metal influences.and if u listen to nirvana,soundgarden,pearl jam, you'll see that they scream in and have really fast songs for some songs,that's from hardcore punk influence.and they also sing softly and gently form indie rock influence :)
