  • This song describes life perfectly. It's highs and lows, and how they follow each other and what you really have to do is enjoy the highs as much as you can because something might come and throw you down again. So bow down to live your life, live your life with humility.

  • born in 97. when they split. I FUCKIN MISSED OUT!!!! oh well, now im the only one i know who listens to this. whoo, im special!

  • I'm seeing all my actions, all the things, all the girls who really cares, everything...

  • Nirvana and Pearl Jam were great bands but for my money Soundgarden was the best band to come out of the Seattle/grunge hype.In fact, they were probably one of the best bands to come out of the 1980/90's.

  • one of the all time greatest albums ever.

  • Chris said in his NY Times interview a couple of days ago that this is his fav SG song.

  • Heyyy check out my channel!!

  • i miss the good music we had back in this time period....it was something to be there and a part of it

  • I remember when I was in high school I wrote Head Down on a desk in one of my classes 'cause I had this song stuck in my head, and the next day seeing that someone had written ''your fucking throat'' below it. Haha 8-P

  • this is just brilliant <3

  • How can 4 people dislike this?? Are they deaf?

  • THIS SONG TAKES ME BACK TO MY GRUNGE YEARS. FOR ME THIS IS ONE OF MY FAVOURITE SONGS ON THE ALBUM. PABLOPJ86 YOU ARE RIGHT THE SONG IS BITTERSWEET, HYPNOTIC AND RHYTHMICAL.

  • @naletakc

    CAPS LOCK ISN'T ALWAYS NECESSARY.

  • Saw Cornell on tour this spring. What's a trip is that he was taller than me, about 6'2" or 6'3". Anyway, he played a bunch of Soundgarden tunes as well as those other things he did (and for all you guitarists buying those stupid TAB books, STOP - they aren't written right; Cornell said they wrote those with weird tunings, so the chords might not theoretically exist). Anyway, he did this thing with feedback on a guitar, man, and it took the Hendrix thing to a whole new level, WOW.

  • When you compare Badmotorfinger to the last two albums, it's no surprise that for the last 2 albums Cornell wrote the lyrics AND nearly all the music. The music took on an identity suddenly that surpassed just being "grunge" to something approaching "art music". That's no small feat. I agree with anyone on here who says this sounds just as modern now as it did back then - for some reason, man, this stuff is just advanced music. Saw Chris Cornell on tour this spring and wait ti

  • Excellent statement about social paradoxes. This music is just genius, too. Anyone hear how Soundgarden's coming back together? Can't wait to hear Thayil w/ Cornell again because no way could Audioslave have reached this artistic height - those last 2 SG albums? They're up there with Sabbath, yes, and with Floyd, too. Just trippy, intelligent, timeless social commentary, hardcore riffs mixed with these hallucinogenic fugues. Badass.

  • Joost...

    Jist...

    Just...

    Just awesome.

  • The whole album still sounds as good now as when it 1st arrived, double yellow vinyl sitting proudly on my shelf.

    But...

The open tuning of this song always made my high E string snap lol...

  • I see that smile on your face...

  • The effect used on their faces on the cover reminds me a bit of Black Sabbath's Paranoid cover. However, although Sabbath is great, Soundgarden blows them out of the water, at least in my opinion.

  • @LokiGodOfMischeif1 You know what's really funny? Your attitude toward music.

  • Life is too short to listen to bad music and to discover all the beauties of good music. Thank god for discovering Soundgarden!

  • great song

  • that's the fuckin best band ever played music on the earth

  • superunknown = best album

This album is the ultimate soundgarden experience..perfect

  • @DrummerGIRL6688 this is great but badmotorfinger is better, in my opinion.

  • @DrummerGIRL6688 I agree, I favor Superunknown. And I hope that with their next album coming, it goes in the same style as this one. :) I'll still be buying it regardless.

  • Takes me out of the city, and want to take some mushrooms.

  • THIS SONG IS MYSTICAL, MAGICAL, AND COMPLETELY AWSOME....

  • Ooohh....kills me everytime.... Best there is....<3

  • Fantasktický psychedelický song, na který nelze jen tak zapomenout!

  • 4 persons dislike this?what crappy music do they listen too?

  • @Gunhead001 Beeber. Nuff said. LMAO

  • fun fact: if you listen REALLY carefully, you'll hear someone playing table tennis throughout the song

  • @Lawldudz your an idiot that's the snare drum your hearing..

  • @chapinguy look, I know my instruments well enough to know what a snare sounds like. The sound I'm talking about is very, very hard to hear without headphones, but it's deffinately not a snare drum

  • @chapinguy You can actually faintly hear it when you have headphones in the background sometimes. i don't think its the drums - but, it might be.

  • One of those songs that most people never met. Powerful and will be played at my funeral.

  • I have listen to this song in so long, but its still so AWESOME!!!!

  • @MrPjctv Spring? Are you fucking kidding me? Oh well, Pearl Jam and Alice In Chains are also coming out with new albums, plus Screaming Trees has an (Unfortunately, it's only on iTunes right now. Yes, that's right, it's not a physical release yet.) album of unreleased material that came out this year.

  • @MrPjctv They're coming out with a new album.

  • Ben should write more of Soundgarden's material on the next album! He always has the most kickass songs like this one!

  • sick shit love it

  • This is like Soundgarden's 'Yesterday.' Just incredible.

  • The kind of tune Buffalo Bill would 'feminize' to! Classic stuff!

  • I love eating a couple of big fat LORTABS and listening to this.....hahahaha!!

  • yup. best SG song

  • great chord changes-unique

  • @ thornhead1994 -- A boner?? Seriously?? What are you, like twelve then?? But, this IS a damn good tune, regardless of your age...lol.

  • Ben Shepherd rocked the shit out of this song when I saw them live on the 21st.

  • This song and Rusty Cage are their best songs. fucking great.

  • eargasm¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡

  • Song gives me shivers every time i hear it...

  • people often say that there's a lot of Beatles influence in THIS song... but I don't seem to get it...

  • EL MEJOR DISCO DE SOUNDGARDEN POR MUCHO Y EN MUCHO TIEMPO DE PIES A CABEZA EN SONIDO DURO PERO ENVOLVENTE GRACIAS SEATLE POR EXELENTES BANDAS COMO ESTA!!!!!!!

  • superunknown is such a good album

  • 2:50-3:05

  • 4 people walk around with there head down.

  • I THOUGHT I WAS THE ONLY ONE WHO ADORED THIS SONG

  • this is a fun song to play on guitar

  • I keep one of my guitars in the tuning for this song and jam it at least once a week. Puts me in a trance every time.

  • This song is a trance, hypnotic, descending... pulling you up to the heights just to let you fall down. Like the middle part riff.... Bittersweet, giving you a gentle guitar lick just to pull into a verse full of lyrical and musical darkness. Great drumming lesson by the way, Hats off Soundgarden.

  • well said, this song enters your mind like a bong hit!!!

  • @PabloPJ86 Would someone please get this guy a Pulitzer?

  • When I was a wee lass and I was listening to this on my cassette player, this was the only song on the album I didn't like. Now that I'm older and pay attention to the lyrics and recognize the sheer genius of it all, it's one of my top 3 album favorites (next to Fresh Tendrils and 4th of July)

    We see you try

    We see you fail

    Some things never change

    We hear you cry

    We hear you wail

We steal that smile from your face

  • @TenTonNuke Dude, you forgot "Like Suicide" LOL all good though, good picks :)

  • @TenTonNuke Fresh Tendrils, my alert when the server goes down on my BlackBerry..lol,

Problem now is, whenever I hear that song it gives me anxiety...lol

  • First this song makes me tear, then makes me angry, then makes me happy.

  • Best Soundgarden track IMO !

  • Anyone who hits dislike should turn in their Soundgarden fan-card. Weak.

  • One of my favorites

  • this whole album is so gooooood

  • quite possibly my favorite on this album for many years now. Its just a unique sounding song and its totally got that 90's look-down-at-the-ground-and-bob-your-head groove to it.

  • this album is a masterpiece of modern music

  • @bisys2 tienes los dedos llenos de razón. Your fingers bursting into life

  • those two damn people that disliked this are TOTALLY

    entitled to their own opinion.

  • @lavits59 entitled sure, doesn't mean they're correct or hold the opinion for valid reasons. They probably listen to Linkin park and think that's good. "Wut? This haz no rap in it.. dislike"

  • @ruin3r 1st of all, linkin park is very good(i wasnt one of the two who disliked this), and 2nd of all, they were probably just joking around or trying to be different

  • @ruin3r Funny thing about that is Chris Cornell collaborated with Linkin Park.

  • @ruin3r

Not that I disagree but what makes your opinion any more valid than theirs? And why do you give a fuck what somebody else likes or dislikes anyway? You can't change people just be glad you found something you enjoy. Shit 500 years ago we'd all have to listen to Latin Gospel music because of intolerant assholes like yourself thought their point of view was the only one that was correct.

  • I love the way this song builds and flourishes and then gradually breaks like a wave melding into the sea.

  • Matt Cameron!

  • FUCK YA

  • yeah its bens song but everybody contributed lmfao this a soundgarden classic

  • trippiest songs on the album = ben shepherd

  • vengo de "musica para flashear"

  • two people either missed the like button or are just complete dumbasses with no taste of music

  • One of the best. Ben Shepard's masterpiece.

  • I love this song, really psychedelic, it's great!!!!

  • Thank you Ben Shepherd.

  • 1 person dislikes this. im not making a joke im just saying.

  • This song makes me feel like I can cum babies.

  • theres always gonna be one douchebag in 75 thousand people

  • this is such a great album..

  • THis song is way better than Black hole sun. wake up., and just accept it!!!

  • MAN WHAT IS THAT CRAZY TAPP TAPP TAPP IN THE BACK-GROUND AT THE BEGINING............IT MAKES ME FEEL SUPERUNCOOL NOT KNOWING

  • @earlydoser

super uncool not knowing? Would that tapping be the superunknown, then?

  • @earlydoser It's a table tennis ball kicking :)

  • 1 person dislikes this? Really? They'd better keep their Head Down...

  • @jfoley715 It already is down and surprisingly up their ass at the same time. Fuck 'em. That's why.

  • @jfoley715 ...

  • @jfoley715 Now 2... huh, its like dog lovers beating dogs.

  • @jfoley715 make that 2 ppl... lmao

  • This is a classic album. Surprised A&M records has not re-issued the vinyl record. I would love to get my hands on it for an affordable price. As far as mastering of this record goes. The instruments and vocals all come through very clearly. At this point it sounds good the way it is.I do not know why people compare Alice in Chains,Nirvana,Pearl Jam, STP and the other great 90's rock bands. They all sound different from one another.Just enjoy the music they have created for us.

  • I think this is my favourite Soundgarden song, as soon as I hear that powerful start I instanly get a boner

  • @thornhead1994 I do too and I don't even have a dick.

  • This song is way too good to be on the radio...long live knights of the sounftable!!

  • i think this is hands down my favorite song by these guys. just the over all is so well done, and i think its under appreciated.

  • @dalair This might be my favorite too.. Something just hits me on a deeper level than almost all of their other songs. Superunknown is just a pure classic in any sense in general though.

  • This mutherfugen album rules the mutherfugen planet....and you know this...mannnn!

  • If you turn this picture upside down, it's a forest fire 0_o

  • I remember getting this and Megadeth's Youthanasia on the same day back in 94. Two great albums in one day. I was real pleased with myself that weekend!

  • Let's face it this whole fucking album is AMAZING!!!!

  • Soundgarden and NIN are good for different reasons.

  • GAIZ SHUT THE FUCK UP ABOUT THE TWO

they're both amazing groups. both of the songs are amazing. BUT THEY ARE TWO ENTIRELY DIFFERENT BANDS AND EVERYTHING.

god, this is almost getting as bad as some of the comments on vevo videos.

  • Vintage is all i can say, when i listen to this now its like a fine wine that has gotten better after 15 years !!

  • MY comment : this song exemplifies an exceptionally creative band, who ALSO can write excellent songs and play there asses off. to the NIN thing...NIN fans dont comment on Soundgarden because they dont listen to music involving organic human improvisation, or much music other than Nin. on Catergory : psychedelic yes SG is that and i enjoy putting them there, but i dont see it as depressive. it can awaken you in a depression in fact, but yeah, it aint always happy.

  • @12675 I'm a huge NIN fan and I love Soundgarden. I think that Superunknown is one of the best albums ever made. Who the fuck compares Nine Inch Nails to Soundgarden? They couldn't be more different. Grunge and Industrial Rock are polar fucking oppostie of eachother.

  • Who the fk is nine inch nails? Oho that two song phenom? Spit.

  • its funny how every soundgarden fan here feels the need to defend this song from nins head down while soundgarden isnt even mentioned by nin fans in nins head down video. that says a lot.

  • :)

  • This is 100% by Ben Shepard, and it's fucking AWESOME.

  • Nobody sings like this anymore. :(

  • Comment removed

  • Look at my name. See that NIN992

That stands for Nine Inch Nails.

Do you know which is a better band? Soundgarden any day of the week. When I made this account I was at the peak of liking NIN, but even at my peak, I don't think I would have ever put Soundgarden above them. Soundgarden is pure classic plain and simple.

  • @NIN992

I meant to say I would have never put NIN above Soundgarden.

  • OMG, I used to play this so loud on my cassette player in my 1972 BMW 2002 tii on the way to class when I was in college. The entire album rocked!

  • Man I can't believe someone disliked this video. Even as a joke...

  • Sounds like a cat's teasing before the fight on the midnight, great song!

  • musci doesn't die, neither does a genre.. whoever said that needs to execute themselves a.s.a.p. for the good of humanity.

  • Grunge NOT dead! :P

  • In these days . I was in London and listen this song in the Tube ¡¡¡ Amazing Song, amazing London ¡¡¡

  • I FUCKING LOVE SOUNDGARDEN! don't know how to classify them. Pyschedelic deppresive rock is as close I can.

  • @JerFhilm psychadelic depressive rock is "grunge" in a nutshell

  • @schoolglue1234 actually grunge is hardcore punk fused with metal and indie rock.

like nirvana are more punk, soundgarden just straightforward rock(although they have some punk songs like kickstand,ty cobb, circle of power, etc)but they are heavy two from metal influences.and if u listen to nirvana, soundgarden, pearl jam, you'll see that they scream in and have really fast songs for some songs, that's from hardcore punk influence.and they also sing softly and gently form indie rock influence :)

  • Underappreciated Soundgarden song. I like the tonal and chord progressions. Like all good grunge, the pervading minor chords have a delightfully disturbing visceral effect on one's emotions.

  • @pbanta62 Here here! It tickles one's pineal gland does it not? :)

  • this song was sandwiched between black hole sun and superunknown on the album superunknown, but this is the one that always got stuck in my head :)

  • they changed my life, they keep me alive. thats all I can say.

  • Since when did this song get so popular?

I always felt underground for loving this song. :(

  • @burdeninmyhands samehere. this is my fave off the album, and i thought no one knew this one.

  • @SuperInsanity1 booo stop compairing and enjoyyyyyyyyyy

  • @strust007 why does it matter if its better, to who is it better what does it matter ? people love being superior having superior opinions even with art.

  • @SuperInsanity1 BOOO for the thumbs up beg.

  • better than the one by nin?? completely different song that cant be compared.. only similarity is the title...

  • too good.

  • this song was stuck in my head today since i woke up till the end of it

  • this song was stuck in my head day from start to finish

  • GOD DAMN Soundgarden is so good it fucking HURTS! Goddamn towtruck driver stole this and Badmotorfinger from me along with alot of AIC and Tool albums when I crashed DUI back in '01. I forgot how amazing SG was.

  • omg this just blows my mind. this song is making me see things.i love it

  • when i heard this album 4 the first time, this song scared me, now i love it

  • Strongest Seattle band Period... Soundgarden is king of grunge...

    R.I.P. ****Layne & Kurdt****

  • @skyehoyt1971 and Adrew Wood too

  • @G30rg31415 All talent lost in fame and the complex bullshit we call art,(life) will be remembered by us and those who truly enjoy the contribution made to our own life and feelings. Too many to list. I really cant get into any band like I used to, every time I really start to fuckin dig em' shit happens. Life is short full of stuff don't know what for can't get enough.

  • lol shit reminds me of ridin the train to work every mornin... is ALL i listened to to wake me up... this and Down on the Upside..

  • @SuperInsanity1

it's really the same song?!? O.O

    reply plz ;D

  • @SuperInsanity1 Thumbs Whore

  • @SuperInsanity1 dude, they're so incredibly different. they don't need to be compared just because of the name.

  • @SuperInsanity1 Guy from NIN is a man child fucking music is for really angry white kids. Trent can suck my balls while I wear a Soundgarden jock strap.

  • @jasonbear72 that is so dumb. Trent does not fuck kids like in your twisted fanatsies. you actually thought that up, that is the fucked up part. I bet you are a loser, that is why you are on here putting down other people. kill yourself or grow up.
