why did the big 3 sue california?? because they like to sell fuel guzzling vehicles. they claim they have to add more additional equipment to their vehicles & raise the prices higher. due to emission standards. In my opinion first those gas guzzling engine got to go if they want to survive. second improve reliabilty. finally keep up with stringent emissions standards.
@98770 mmm exactly - people (the market) demand more fuel efficient money and more value for money, apparently these American cars are made with poor processes and materials because they apparently get replaced with newer models. the trend is changing, and the big 3 gotta realize and ACCEPT it... they cant make mainly fuel guzzlers forever
i dont know about you guys, but i think if GM didnt own so many different car factories it wouldnt face this problem, i mean what if there was only Cadillac, GMC, and Chevy and Pontiac, get rid of the rest, or LIMIT them not over-produce them. but thats just me, maybe im wrong. but i hope they work something out. this is a problem that we are all facing not just GM, Chrysler and Ford.
At least you have 4 letter words under your belt, or is that a sash, or is that just an extension to that RAG you wear on your head.
GM has made and will continue to make a superior vehicle that I want to purchase and I will never own another Nissan, Toyota or one of their anti-american vehicles.
If GM joins with Chrysler then I will never buy another GM vehicle ever. Omar the terrorist says support a terrorist buy a SUV, then you are a clueless idiot, probably drive a Prius proving you sold out to foreign terrorists. I have a large family and large loads I carry and a Prius will just not cut it. Nuke Saudia Arabia, Iran and Venezualia and TAKE THE OIL from the terrorists.
THey have been in bed before. When they sued the State of CAlfornia and CARB regarding ZEV. If they want to merge let them, but let them pay their own bills, it should not be corporate welfare. Both of these compnies chose their own business models and fought the future, unlike the Japanese automakers who embraced it.
I don't think a merge should happen between the two i mean I love both chrysler and gm but a merge would make them a monopoly almost, ford would then be the loner american brand which would not be good for ford my other favorite company
figures-i just bought a Dodge, after 14 years of Chevys ( still have 1 new Chevy-wife`s ) so what happens to warranties, service, parts ect. I juat read an article that said the GM takeover could be done by November 4th. I`m okay w/it though-I`m nore of a Chevy person anyways-I do love the Dodge though.
These greedy old farts need to be fired some have 40,47,50 years and they don't want to retire. give the younger workers a chance you greedy bums. Go get a life or spend some time with your family, money freaks.
I'm sure you won't believe me because you've obviously been brain-washed into thinking that American is better, but thats ok. If you like going to the mechanics all the time and making friends with them, I don't have a problem with it..LOL I don't like having no ride anywhere because it's always at the ship, and so far, everyone I know that has had American made junk has always had their vehicle in the shop. My dad had 2 Kia's that are more reliable than his 1995 Chevy truck!
I guess that is the bright side. To be honest, From what I hear though, Toyota may be see its share of problems with issues. I work with two people who bought brand new 07 Camrys, both pf them just started to fall apart at under 30K. I was also reading reviews of both the Camry and Altima, if they keep going the way they are, they may fall off the top.
Of Course they will. What makes me upset is it that everyone thinks toyota has this indisctructable reliability. They think the car will run untill there is no parts left in it, and that is just simply false. They rally are cheaply made overpiced japanese scrap. And they tag this huge price tag on it and make it seem sooo good, but in reality it is not better than any american car or truck. Toyota will fall, and people will realize they were scammed by some foreign job company.
Oh my god, It's good to hear that there is an intelligent person! I have driven numerous import vehicles, and was not impressed with either of them, I ended up buying a Dodge Avenger over the Corolla and Civic I drove. It's nice to hear that your not sucked into all the hype either.
Glad to hear you bought a Dodge. Im a huge Big 3 guy myself, mainly a truck guy and old american muscle type person. Its good to hear that you have actually excperienced the other vehicles before making your decision on your car. Most people on here just talk alot of smack and dont even own a tundra or anything. Dodge is a great company, people might look down upon it becuase they think they make aweful cars/trucks, but if you take care of it- it will take care of you. Good decision!
Yeah, anyways, if you want a fuel efficent car, get a Chevrolet. Want power, get a Dodge. Want SUV's, get a Ford. Want like... rallyish cars, go buy a Pontiac.
Haha, that is so true. We let my mother-in-law borrow my wifes Dodge Intrepid for few days while her Toyota Corrola (yes, A Toyota) was in the shop for a bad transmission, And on top of that, they refused to give her a loaner. What a joke. Anyway, When she got the car back, she said she'd rather keep the Intrepid! She said it was nice to have a car that moves when you hit the gas pedal. And our Intrepid is a 2001 with 160K on it with the 3.2 motor, and that car can haul, we love it!
ha nice, glad to see that someone enjoys dodge. I love dodge to be honest, its a great company. ever have to replace the tranny on your intrepid? HAHA and that sucks for the toyota. I cannot stand that company. Big 3 are so much better than any foreign vehicle.
I have always had excellent luck with Chrysler products, I dont care what people say about them. We have never had to replace our tranny on our Intrepid, and we have put 160K hard miles on this car. Plus, I bought a new Dodge Avenger R/T. That car is amazing, of course its under-praised by the "Professionals" But I already put 30k on that car with no problems, and we got a lifetime warranty, Something that Toyota or Nissan dont have the balls to offer.
the american automakers wont "shut down". Im not sure what you are thinking but that isnt going to happen, ever. Americans do not use cheap parts. Id love to see a tundra take the abuse that a silverado, f150 or ram take everyday- they deffinatly couldnt handle it. And why would you think the american automakers are going to shut down? Ford sells about 4x the amount of f150's that toyots sells tundra. No one is going to "shut down".
Well, I saw that in the truck category, the Silverado unfortunately is top seller. But for midsize sedan, Toyota Camry has that, for compact car, it's either Corolla or Civic. For minivan, it's going off and on with the Grand Caravan and the Odyssey.. Small truck is Toyota Tacoma. If I'm wrong, then send me an article proving me wrong, but thats what I last saw on the internet. And yea, I know.. I heard from people that American automakers won't shut down...but it's a good chance they will
Yea im not sure where you got your information from but it is wrong. This is top 10 truck sales as of Sept 2008 1.Ford F-150, 392,698 2.Chevy Silverado, 370,502 3.Dodge Ram, 196,058 4.GMC Sierra, 133,811 5.Toyota Tacoma, 117,313 6.Toyota Tundra, 115,026 7.Ford Ranger, 54,815 8.Chevy Colorado, 44,884 9.Nissan Frontier, 40,873 10.Nissan Titan, 29,900 As for cars, i belive it goes- camry, accord, altima. and for minivans its caravan, then honda.
And that is ludacris to think that American companies will shut down. there is no chance in hell that will ever happen. This is America, we buy American vehicles. And why did you say its unfortunate for the silverado to be a high selling truck? Im going to take it that you are one of those japanese automible loving people who thinks they are better built and will last longer than an American car/truck? If you think that, get your head out of the gutter its not true.
Um yea, as for cars, Japanese outlasts American. The Tacoma will outlast a junky Ranger, Colorado and Dakota.
I don't know who told you American made crap was built to last, but they definately aren't. Its always been Honda and Toyota built to last. Chevy, Ford and Dodge never could make a vehicle that outlasted Honda and Toyota
Oh really, well who told you that japanese cars outlast american car? Thats your oppinion, show me facts please? Thats why the top 5 sole trucks are still American trucks. That obviously shows you something. And the ranger will outlast the tacoma, if you take propper care of your vehicle it will last as long as you want ti too. My family actually owns a toyota van, and its a piece of crap. All of my uncles own American vans that are still driving nicer than ours. American cars are built better.
And by built better, i mean built with much stronger, sturdier parts that are meant to be used and abused everyday. American trucks take a beating on the job site and off. I have yet to see any Foreign truck working at a job site, or hauling/towing anything heavy. Take a trip on the highway and count the number of American trucks towing campers and trailers and hauling heavy loads. Then count the number o japanese trucks doing that. I think you find there is NO japanese trucks actually working
America cheats. Know why? DIESEL. I don't hardly ever see American trucks with Unleaded motors towing trailers (nor Japanese) but its all Diesel trucks. Toyota is coming out with a diesel soon in the Tundra. That'll be the shit. haha
So diesel is cheating? but yet its ok for toyota to come out with one? you make no sense? I see plenty of unleaded trucks towing things. but have yet to see a tundra doing any real work. And how is disel cheating? Its much better for our economy as well. I dont get you, America cheat with diesel? Isnt it ironic that toyota has copied American trucks since the beginning of the tundra and now they are miraculously coming out with a diesel hmmm wonder why.Oh yea they want to be like american trucks
Well, even if Toyota does want to be like American trucks, their diesel will ace American diesel because Toyota is known for having better reliability and lasting longer than American junk...lol
HAHAHA that is a joke. do you even know what kind of engines are in American diesel trucks? There is no way toyota can come out with a better diesel engine than any of the big 3 HD diesels. Dodge has the Cummins(best diesel engine on the market) Ford has the Power Stroke, and Chevy has a Duramax. I think toyotas engine will be a piece of junk compared to any of the big 3's engines. No where near as much torque or hp let alone reliability.
And where do you get the information that the Toyota diesel is going to be junk... Chevy Duramax has had a lot of problems lately. So has the older Powerstroke motor.
the duramax has problems? where do u get this from? and the powerstroke has problems? ha man you need to back up your information. exactly what problems have they had, can you explain please?
Yes. I know a guy who took his truck on a wicked offroad course. The truck rolled over. He ended up in the hospital, but his truck was in the garage, 1 piece, just a little dirt and mud. Guess what it was? Dodge Ram Super Duty.
yea dodge ram heavy duties are really nice. cumming engine is fantastic, not to mention they are great for towing. I have never taken a dodge off road but im sure it would be fun. glad to see his truck is ok! Built Ram tough haha.
I love how all of these comments are totally of subject. Blowup dolls? Anyway, This would not be good for the American public since GM is damn near bankrupt. But it still sucks that The likes of Toyota are taking over. Just sucks.
Sure GM is in the midsts of bankruptcy but merging with chrystler will help. They will bring in ALL of Chrystlers revenue plus their own. This will benifit our economy. Its better than chrystler merging with nissan or any foreign company and giving money to other countries for their sales. By merging together Ford can keep the number 1 spot on sales, and GM/Chrystler will take number 2- thus keeping American sales on the top spots and not letting foreign crap take over our economy.
Look at the bright side, GM and Chrystler can share ideas, parts, and technology to make a better vehicle. The two companies together will rise up from bankrupcy and get back on their feet. This is going to be a great thing for America if they merge. Ford will stay number 1, GM/Chrystler number 2- This will keep foreign crap from taking over our market. Hopefully GM helps Dodge with a great powertrain, and Dodge gives GM the cummins or title to the hemi. Hummer/Jeep, that would be an awesome thing.
