  • Their shell colour responds to the turbitity of the water. Try experimenting with different turbitities to see what colours you get.

  • hey mate, I caught about 10 averaged sized yabbies yesterday and kept 4 in a single tank. I just threw in some dead insects for them to eat. What is a good diet? and will 4 of them try to kill/fight each other? (I dont know if their mles or females)

  • Hi bushman6363

    Thank you for the comment.

I think that one animal is foundations on one tank. They which are together will fight.

I have given the food for Plecoglossus altivelis altivelis in Japan, or the object for the tropical fish of subsidence nature.

  • nice work visman7. beautiful blue yabbie. i have never seen one so blue, or is it the light you use? good to see that our auzzie yabbies are appreciated all over the world. reakon he needs a hiding hole though or hell get stressed. most rivers creeks and dams have them in australia so they are not hard to find but the drought and bad water quality means there arent many left in the Murray river. hope ya can come to australia soon and have a yabbie bonanza! they are really tasty too, very sweet!

  • Hello jesster01

    Thank you for the comment.

and the talk of Australia -- thank you! I went to Australia several times. Search also carries out some rivers and ponds and there are very pleasant recollections. Moreover, it is waiting for a comment.

  • nice yabby visman, your yabby looks like a sub species of destructor from the barmah forrest area , the claws seem wide like a spanner. please look into it as they are rare, good luck..

  • Your interest level is very glad. I want to go to various areas in Australia.

  • if you come to Australia let me know ,i have yabbies on my farm and the channels and rivers here are crawling with them

  • It is very wonderful! For me, it is an exciting invitation. I am looking forward to meeting you some day.

  • hi Visman, check these out, in our river we also have a spiny crayfish (Euastacus armatus). It comes out in winter when the water is cold. A nd in the state of Tasmania we have the largest freshwater crayfish in the world, Western Australia has the Maron, and Queensland has the red claw yabby . you may end up with quite a large collection if you wish. have fun..

  • Thank you for various guidance. When going to Australia, you are certainly contacted! It will become the trip of being then pleasant.

  • my yabbies about 10 inches now had hima while

  • Yabby======)

  • you need a place for that to hide in

  • that's right

    Thank you for a comment.

  • very nice yabby, I've got a few yabbies I caught in a dam. I haven't fed them anything yet since my tank has a lot of algae and plants in there. My ones did change a bit in colors. It was originally grey, and now they change to black/dark green color.

  • The color of the body of Yabby expresses change by light.

    Thank you for a comment.

It may be changeful with the kind of light.

    Example: Ultraviolet rays/fluorescent light

My Yabby becomes blue or white by light.

  • sure thing

  • Yes!

  • very cool color

  • Thank you for a comment.

  • What are you feeding it to make it so intensely blue ?

Am I right in thinking that colour has a lot to do with its diet ? I remember seeing these yabbies "roadtested" as a pet on Burkes Backyard years ago. I always wanted one (several).

  • The control by meal has not gone. Many of all my crayfish(es) are eating the same thing. Blue crayfish is the color of the body which is based on my breeding and fixed mostly. In Japan, writing about the color of the body of crayfish was also performed.

  • Very nice Cherax !

  • Thank you, I'm very glad.
