GIFT CARD SCAMS. 1,000.00 Great Wolf Lodge Gift card he didn't want. Met him at his house, called # on card. Was told it's fine. Called 2 hrs later. 0 balance. The scammers used a stolen credit card to buy it. They posted again, a friend of mine set them up to meet at a public location. Called 911, stalled the crooks. They are in jail!
it actually does suck. It is pretty much useless for anything useful that one might try to do with it. Horrible way to organize information. One could easily conceive of a site format that is just as simple but 20x more useful.
every since people start sticking their nose in craigslist business it has turned into a useless tool. people want to hold craigslist responsible for the actions of people who use it. fine. let me sue gun manufacturers for the actions of people who buy guns. is this America or isnt it? where is the freedom? I think every ad I have ever posted in craigslist has been yanked, and i do not post or say anything illegal. its worthless
I had some very odd emails from craigslist users. 1st im a Three free agent & i have an advert on craigslist offering FREE sim cards on 3 mobile. One of the emails i received was from a man who said he was a sailor & was askin if i could help him with shipping fees an send him cash through western union. Now this was very odd as it states in the advert sims are FREE and there is NO fee for Shipping. Clearly the person hadnt read the advert and it is my guess the email was a copy of 100s he sends
I got treats and profile racist , and this guy made a website with my nickname, i had report it to IC3.GOV I Got a email saying they find who He is and they searching for some more evidence , I got a lot of it all ready I hope to see this guy in court soon , and in Jail. Finally i can see the Light!!!
Yea, I'm trying to sell my monitor lizard and i keep getting basically the same e-mails from like 10 different people saying they're busy, they want to send me a check and an extra $100 and that they'll send a moving truck to pick up my lizard lol.
9 out of 10 e-mail replys you get on Craigslist are Scamms. You can easily detect it by reading their bad grammar..99.9% of Scammers are Nigerians that have no source of income other than scamming americans with fake checks, fake Paypal payments and Dating/Love Scamms. So be careful guys, if you're selling a Guitar in say New York, why would anyone from Missouri want to send you a check not only for the asking price but for three times the price youre asking??! SCAMM!
Scammers and spammers often will claim to be new to the area. While it is possible a person did recently move here, it's also an excellent excuse for out-of-state scammers and spammers to not know anything about your area, if you ask them about it.
To eliminate most of the personals scam and spam, simply request in your ad that respondents include a few specific details from your ad (but beware of those who simply copy and paste your ad into their reply). If you're looking for friends in the local area, you can also request that respondents list a few details about this area that only a local would know about. If they fail to do this, immediately delete them! Don't be so desperate and horny that you answer fake replies or ads.
On Craigslist personals -- even in the "dating, romance, long term relationship" section -- it is wise to assume that ALL respondents to your ad and posters of any ad are spammers and scam-artists UNTIL they prove to you to be otherwise. That may seem cold-hearted and paranoid, but unfortunately fake ads and fake ad replies are rampant on Craigslist personals.
All unsolicited spam E-mails, spim[unsolicited instant messages asking for ca$h] , Potential Lenders [requiring advance fees] Job offers[involving wire transfers/checks/paypal & shipping], Checks/money orders, Sob Stories[look out for people who use God's Name] from OVERSEAS & from the states are SCAMS!! If it seems too good to be true, it probably a scam. If it's unsolicited, it's a scam!!
Online buyers: Never pay with Western Union or Money Gram - That's right -- never! These methods have proven to be unsafe when paying someone you don't know. Stay safe online... Use firewalls,anti-spyware, and anti-virus software to protect your home computer; keep them up-to-date. Don't use outdated versions of IE. Update it or use firefox instead. Google Nigerian scams.
another thing, if they say the word "item" rather than for example "computer" stay away.

Does somebody want to transfer millions of dollars into your account?
Does someone want you pay you to cash cheques and send them the money?
Met a new friend/penpal on a friendship/dating site who's asking you for money?
Has a dying person contacted you wanting your help to give his money to charity?
Have you sold an item and are asked to accept a payment larger than the item amount?
IT'S A SCAM!
Don't fall for common scams like this
fight them!
