its ok to use tribal dances as inspiration... but you should consider how these dances were developed and the culture they represent.. hindi pwede na palaging "FOR ART'S SAKE" or "FOR CREATIVITY / UNIQUENESS'S SAKE".
VERY SHAMEFUL! in you tube when u type "traditional Chinese dance" in "search", lots of AUTHENTIC Chinese dances appear (and they are also beautiful!). you can't see any comment "Hey i'm Chinese and we dont dance like that!..." because THEY REALLY ARE OWNED BY THEM. unlike most Filipinos who have the nerves to tag their posts "Igorot tribal dance" which does not belong to them and NEITHER PERFORMED RIGHT! YOU PEOPLE SHOULD WEAR YOUR OWN "BARONG TAGALOG AND SAYA'T PINYA" THEN USE UR OWN!
my "blood brothers and sisters" i am not astonished by this corruptions anymore in my years of surfing in the internet...i grew up in manila but still full blooded and proud to belong from the kankana-ey tribe...i used to ask my mom about our traditions and she even tells that when they dance it has strict forms. most filipinos will not honor it anyway due to lack of concern and education. my pretty sis and niece even still experience the ignorant question "igorota ka?!...ba't maputi ka?..."
What is this?...Igorot dance ay? Yah the costume is from cordillera, but the dance they presented is different from all the dances from cordillera, oh well maybe they developed the dance steps. Others comments here said that its pertaining to some festivities like weds/harvest/ etc, but still not in any of the cordillera dances..
Well, I applause the dancers of this dance. All I can say is never do the people of Cordillera dance like that, and about the music, its not Cordilleran. Those who said your an Igorot, from what ethnic group are you from? COMMERCIALIZED ang sayaw na to. You dont have the true essence of a Cordilleran foremost. And a question, if your are trully a Cordilleran, what tribe uses the dress that the women wore? Your a joke and I'll laugh a loud as i can if you dont know....
what????...SIR/MADAM..what is ur basis to say that this is an igorot dance....why??...what ethnic do you belong??....u know i am a dancer and an ethnic dancer here in baguio and i/we usually performed during baguio flower festival(panagbenga)....---->
...stupid naman yung nag post ni2!...are you an igorot or what?!...well i like the presentation on this video but pls THIS! is not an IGOROT dance! as i/we dance and play gongs here in codillera....
i for one is an igorot and i haven't seen such dance in our cordilleras. cause everyone of our dance has a meaning... wedding, good harvest etc. could someone explain? as if this dance is simply ballet, i dont know.
and dont be nerd and youre simply too dumb! read and understand before you reply. im not asking if the dancers are igorots, im asking what is the dance for.
ritual or not the dance should have a meaning. meaning, the steps/movements should point on some...as i said, wedding/harvest etc. etc. or this is simply entertainment.
well, saying i'm ignorant says you said what you are..
Outstanding Job! By displaying with pride your cultural skills and understanding of your Filipino/Asian heritage to the UCONN community, you also display the rich diversity
that makes America a great and powerful country. Congratulations on your excellent performance!

Well you didn't get what i said, do you? So, you're expecting it to be performed as a ritual?
And oh what a rant, its very logical, made me think how dumb i am (sarcasmness)
