  • misleading title friend

  • jhgjhgj665h65h

  • fat cops yuk

  • i drove over the bridge about 6-8 hours before it happend.. i was on the way to the airport to fly out to Boston and i heard about it at the Boston Logan Airport on the news.. I was in total shock!

  • I live in Minneapolis, and I was on this 2 MINUTES before it happened, we were in traffic right after the bridge, and we saw it about 500 feet behind us. Scariest moment of my life.

  • If i was any of these firefighters,i wouldnt know how the hell to attack this tragedy!

  • I remember sitting at a hotel on vacation, we're all relaxing not thinking about anything. Then we turn on the TV to watch the Twins game, then suddenly while were still watching the game everyone starts leaving and the game stops, we wondered what happened, then my aunt called and told us what happen...my uncle was one of the workers on that bridge. He lived, but one of his closest friends who was just feet away from his didn't make it...

  • New bridge is really nice, thoughts go out to all on this 4th anniversary of the collapse

  • Wacthing this live made me sick to the stomach. Thinking of how many peoples lives were affected. The sadest part was that it was rush hour when it happened.

  • i was on my way too the airport.we stoped for food or we mite have been on it.was late to the airport.my bag did not make it one the plane.had to run to my gate, just made it.

  • I lost a good friend to that bridge.

I now have a huge phobia of bridges.

    I live in Minnesota.

I can never go on this bridge again.

  • @Nightshots That's sad I'm sorry for your loss, what was the cause of the collaspe?

  • old bridge. Was built to withstand about half that traffic that goes over it daily. Over time, it just got weaker. They actually were working on it with that week. But that was not enough.

  • @janmadytay

There were 24 thin gussets plates (support plates).

  • this happened on my birthday

  • o.o I just realized that's a really longgggggggg bridge

  • Did anyone get hurt?

  • @Bananas138 - I hope you're not serious...13 people were killed and 145 were injured. Not to mention the tens of thosands of people who were affected emotionally, financially, and logistically from this disaster.

  • This was the day my cousin came back from Vietnam. My family was on that bridge driving there to pick her up at the airport. My family heard a loud crash. Exactly 3 seconds after we crossed that bridge. I was devastated.. I was screaming at all those people behind me trying to help. I tried to convince my parents to turn around to help them. But they said: "There is nothing we can do. I wish we could help. I really do". I started crying when I saw it on the news at the airport.

  • Cool, unlimited length of video uploads.. pretty much, hahahahaha for anyone with a shitty connection ☺

  • For those wondering, YouTube just annouced today that most users will now be able to upload videos of any length - See link in video description.

  • @AirRaider56 ownd

  • @metomjr Hmmm well my account's been around longer than yours. I wonder if mine has that setting.

  • i was on vacation that day. we stopped in a hotel and decided to watch the news and all that was on was this.

  • @metomjr Ah, so you have to be listed as director, and it had to be before a certain time in 2006 right? I was thinking around August '06 is when they YT away with the 10 minute clips entirely.

  • raw video? thats just stupid! this video is a waste of time. it just footage of vehicles, firemen and cops. what the hell is so RAW about that?

  • @pigeonmanjones by "raw" video it means that it's video that hasn't been edited down, Unedited videotape, just as it was shot. Also called raw takes or field tape.

  • Great video man, if you want to see a movie that will blow your mind type into Youtube old world secrets the omega project codes

  • I lost my brother in this tragedy let his name be remembered 2000-2007

  • I do agree with you sheshabay ! ! Well said !!

  • same with my sister, she used to drive on that bridge everyday on her way to work, but she had called in sick the day it collapsed

  • my mom went over this bridge 2 minutes before it collapsed. she heard the news on the radio when she was driving home

  • @xoxoDAVETANGOxoxo OMG I WAS ON THAT BRIDGE TWO RIGHT BEFORE IT FELL

  • @hamdi613 or too or as well

  • just bad sized gusset plates or so they say

  • i rember this. i really didnt think about it too much. did u know a bus dived into the river? it was crossing while it collapsed im not sure if more fell in but u will have to look it up.

  • It didn't fall in, but it was close

  • wat was d cause of d failure does any1 know. i'm studyin engineering at colege and am interested to kno wat happend here.

  • The biggest reason was there was construction work on the bridge. They were cracking up old pavement to re-pave the bridge. Also, the crews left their equipment on the bridge when they weren't working as to save time and money not driving their trucks back and forth everyday. Hope this helped a little

  • the the plates that were bolted to the support structure leading the beams to it, the bolts were too small for the weight and they gave away

  • There's another bridge near 35W in Stillwater thats an engineering feat and a disaster. It's been around forever and it has been beaten to crap by trucks and even had some beams destroyed, but it's still standing. If you're studying engineering, that's better than 35W.

  • If you're in college, you should be able to write in full sentences and spell COLLEGE correctly.

  • So you just agreed that your first comment was pointless

  • I remember coming downstairs and saw dad watching tv and i saw bridge collapse then i noticed it was 35 w bridge and was just in total shock! I still get scared driving across that bridge probably always will!

  • same here, i hate looking over and thinking, "thats a long ways down"

  • It's truely sad when state and the government step up precautions that they should have already been doing and enforcing. It always happens.

  • Maybe more taxation is needed to pay for it all.

  • How about stop wasting money on a useless war in Iraq and put it into the infrastructure?

Nah, that makes too much sense.

  • or maybe stop making more useless public schools and hire a few worthwhile teachers that know somthing that isnt in the book. and we could save alot of money to.. but i agree with the war also..

  • you do realize that what you just said is happening right now right?

  • No I didn't know that. You see since 2003 I have been living on Mars.

  • Booooooooooooooooring!!!!!!

  • those poor people that was caught in the fall

  • i remember when this happened... I was at work on hwy 36, just north of 35W where this bridge fell and all the traffic stopping going one way and no traffic was coming the other way... then i saw like a fire truck hauling a boat and i thought to myself... "what the hell is going on?" so i turned on the tv I had at my work and saw what had happened...

  • Comment removed

  • I always wondered that too. I've seen some a half hour and longer on here.

  • The Limit is 1Gb, not 10 minutes :D

  • I will never for get where, when, and what I was doing when I first heard about this. What a sad day for relatives and people who died on the bridge

  • this MINESOTA BRIDGE COLLAPSE is orchestrated by FBI and US GOVERNMENT .

  • Why do you think that???

  • its an SATANIC RITUAL , you must research who runs your country and all world .... you must research word " BILDEBERG GROUP video " on google . peace .

  • ohh god i crossed tht bridge last night thank godd it didnt fall

  • Are you kidding me?

As if a brand new built bridge is gonna fall, just cause.

They named the cause of the previous bridge falling. Remember?

I live extremely close, and could hear the noise, and the sirens going off afterwards. What a horrible memory.

  • I'm sure Minnesotans are thinking,"only in Minnesota, this kind of great response". Not true, born and raised there then having lived in many parts of the U.S. every community I've lived in would have responded this way. Minnesota exceptionalism-code for exceptionally rude, snooty and judgemental. See ya!!

  • We're pretty darn good people. No doubt there are a lot of them out there in the rest of the country too though. :)

  • I grew up there also and I would agree with you. It gets worse out state. Stearns County in particular.

  • i hate gravity..

  • You want to just float off into space?

  • It looked nothing like that!

  • Our family lost a friend on this bridge, she moved to Minnesota with her boyfriend who left her after she came here to be with him. She started a new life in Mn. and was doing beautifully, then came this tragic day that ended her life and stopped us all in our tracks. We miss you, we will never forget your life.

  • @Nightshots Sorry for your loss

  • NEVER AGAIN

  • Why do people half to argue, when I go to post a comment & I read others It's just people arguing. Please just stop!

  • Ya i know what you mean most comments on U-Tube degenerate into bitch fests. I've done it myself mnore then once.

  • My friends can articulate their point of view. Can you?

  • this is a video about a bridge and your preaching

    stfu and get off youtube

  • Also, why the hell are you calling me a "friend" if you hate me?! Make up your damn mind already!

  • I don't think Jesus was of any political party, moron. He loved everyone and preached Love. I as well as millions of Americans have investments in oil with my IRA. As far as taxes goes, there is nothing wrong with being rich. I never got a job from a poor person. By the way, poor people don't pay taxes the top 10% of rich people pay 55% of the taxes. Also, MN Cigarette taxes pay most of the road construction (including the repairing of the bridge) as well as GAS TAXES.

  • pavinminn83

    A real job?

Do you really want to go there?

How do you know what I do?

    Peace!

  • by the way I don't think you are a "nut"

  • pavinminn83 my friend! McCain hates America, he is a bitter old man, getting paid by oil companies! All I'm asking you do to, my friend... Is read! Greg Palast Michael Moore Al Franken Jim Hightower and... Jesus Christ! Yes Jesus Christ was a liberal! Writing about truth and facts and reality? And peace, and peace, and peace! WWJD? What a concept? pavinminn83 my friend!
  • I'm just gonna continue sitting here & watch this tragedy video, pray for their families, and read seboljc's messages because this nut is really making my night more entertaining. Who know maybe I'll see GodfatherAC talk about his Baseball team or the Vikings doing good this season. Oh, I don't know about the rest of you guys but, VOTE FOR MCCAIN! Not for me, but for my friend sieboljc!

  • GodfatherAC,

Was I not effected by this? I live uptown, my brother lives off of University and 6th ave. I crossed the I35W bridge every other day. All I want to do is to prevent this from happening again. We all pay taxes right? Why can't those taxes go to bridge repairs; instead of ethnic cleansing, oil monopoly, towel head death, and KBR stock options?

  • pavinmin83,

English is a good language, maybe you should look into writin gooder than u do!

  • because us liberals would support funding of U.S.infrastructure more than that an illegal, immoral, invasion of a country that posed no threat to us. Plus I believe ethnic cleansing is... how do you say??? wrong??? call me crazy!!!

  • Have i mentioned how much I hate these people? Why do they hate peace, freedom, and everything else our founding fathers fought for?

    Republicans are Anti-American!

    War profiteering is treasonous.

    Treason is punishable by death.

Have i mentioned how much i hate you?!!!!!

  • Why does Republicans have anything to do about the bridge collapse? Huh? IT JUST FELL! You librals (like you siebojc) are ALWAYS bitching and moaning about the stupidest shit! Blame them for gas prices? No, blame OPEC & congress. Blame them for 9/11? No, Al-Quaeda. Blame War in Iraq? No, our fellow soldiers are VOLUNTEERING to fight for our country! Did Bush draft them? NO! Giving taxes to the poor, HA! Why don't you go out and find a REAL job and stop bitching!

  • Oh yeah 1336 people died from the effects of hurricane Katrina. Have I mentioned how much I hate Bush and everyone who supports him. 3 years later and nothing has been done. I hate you!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Tim Pawlenty (surprise, surprise, is a republican) Hates to tax the rich, but loves to tax the poor. Infrastructure in Minneapolis was under funded. Yes I will say it! The blood is on your hands, anyone who votes Republican; you evil, racist, bloodsucking, vampire bastards! I hate you! Don't you understand that republicans are evil, and are to blame for everything! 13 dead in Minneapolis, 1,000,000 dead in Iraq. Have I mentioned how much I hate you!!!!!!!!

  • Arguing about sport teams? One year ago today I heard on the news about the bridge collapse; I called my brother immediately because he drives across that bridge daily. Thank God he was home from work already. Next, I called my parents, then everyone else on my phone list. They were all safe. But 13 people were not; they were Mothers, Fathers, Brothers, Sisters, Sons, and Daughters. Yes the Vikings will kick ass this year but lets remember those who won't be able to watch them this season!

  • we got like the best baseball team and a great wrestling team too

  • yet you dont care about this do us all a favor and stfu. you know if you had your teams and went down you would of gone emo

  • shut the hell up i know people who were really affected by the bridge collapse why the hell did i go to this video in the first place. my dad went on that bridge every day. i care about this event as much as you do at least but at least i can get over it

  • The funding of the Bridge Reconstruction Act, and tunnel inspection was not discussed.

Another Republican Admisistration will not fund this as the funding of the Iraqi Invasion is all that is important.

  • Go White Bear Lake!

  • WTF? WHAT DOES THAT PLACE HAVE TO DO WITH THIS?! anyways, woodbury's better.

  • I agree with you.

  • coon rapids owns u all

  • dewd, we're much frkin bigger than u. We like the best hockey team. we made it into finals the past 4 years.

  • fuck you. Minneapolis owns all of minnesota. point blank. st. paul is a drunken irish shit hole of a capital. mpls is king. fuck the outskirts and suburbs.

  • they closed 8 more bridges in minnesota!♦•◘○♠♥☻☺♣

  • It just seems like they don't build em like they used to. We live right next to the 3rd Avenue and Stone Arch bridges. Those are built solid as a rock, and they were built in the 1800's. Whatever happened to that solid construction?

  • EXCELLENT VIDEO! VERY WELL FILMED

  • the bridge malfunction was structural, not terrorism. A contributing factor to this bridges faiure was due to the extreme conditions of temperature ( -20 to 100+ ) road salt and basically what "kgladdy" posted. I'm from Minneapolis and have traveled on that bridge and I have spent time underneath it on both sides of the river. note: the gusset plates were riveted and the plates weren't thick enough.

  • Did you ever wonder why there isn't a reliable structual firm that would make a statement as to why this bridge failed in multiple spots at the same time?

I wonder why conspiracy thinking never seems to end. We are still discussing JFK's bullet path 40 years later.

  • Man that bridge is bout 50-60 feet about the water

  • For everyone that is too stupid to realize how this happened and are trying to claim terrorism, your dumb. What happened was there was construction going on on the bridge that day so there was big construction machinery that was not supposed to be on the bridge. Also traffic was at a dead stop adding more weight and to make things worse a safety check hadnt been done in years due to bird shit and other stuff underneath that became toxic over time so they didnt bother to check anymore.

  • How come many people said they heard a bomb blast go off?

  • Because their idiots. It wasnt a terroist attack. The bridges Gusset plates were cracked and eroded.

  • Their idiots?? Fool. These are people who were RIGHT THERE and HEARD bombs going off for themselves. You weren't there. they were. you have no freaking right to call them idiots.

  • Your right sorry. :( I just felt angry because nobody planted bombs their. The gusset plates were faulty. Sorry once again i shouldnt have called them idiots. But those sounds could have been anything

  • Its ok. I just think there were bombs cause a lot of people said that it sounded like dynamite and there was one report that a homeland security van was in the area hours before the collapse. it was also right in the line of the planned NAFTA highway.

  • Oh... I would have never thought of it being a terrorist attack. But wouldnt the people that are inspecting the ruble and debris from the sight see scorch marks on the bridge. But it could be a terroist attack

  • Well, you'll probably think I'm insane, but check out my profile and you'll get an idea of who I think the terrorists are. (Same people behind 9/11, Columbine, Oklahoma City, London, Bali, Madrid, and the Zarqawi ops, in my opinion)

  • dude your retarded, I was there. No bomb sounds, ohhhhhhhhhhhhhhh you know, maybe you are the idiot because i'm pretty sure that a bridge falling sounds like a bomb. NO BOMB SOUNDS!

  • First of all, i am not fat. I am a 120 pound 14 year old male. Second- I WAS THERE! If it would have been a bomb, it would have EXploded not IMploded!

And your probobly the fat one because you actually sit on you couch and if you as fat as I think you are your chair too watching those nobodies on tv. While im out playing a true Minnesotans game of hockey!

  • I was there. there was no bomb sound.

  • That car had spinners!

  • HA look there's my Dad again, he's putting the repelling lines on the helicopter.

  • Impossible there is no explosive, I am really sorry to hear poor peoples dead on bridge let R.I.P. Collaspse due to reason possible poor design or not strength enough or alot of problem that built about 40 years ago.. But still suffer bridge failure to fix many time cuz of beam not support strong enough.. We need to do something to built stronger and better to withstand to last forever without collapse.. I am sad to see West I-35 on TV I was in gasp shock with my eye closed and shake my head...

  • The design is sound so long as the bridge is maintained and the gusset plates are of proper thickness, and so long as construction companies are not allowed to put two thousand tons of sand more than they were supposed to.

  • I remember the exact day this happened. I was watching it on the news for like 5 hours after it happened. I drove over that bridge before. And this is one of the worst moments in minnesota history.

  • Whats sad is: most news stations have forgotten about this story, to covery Britney spears pimple epidemic..

  • Fox 9 news hasnt forgot it they fill people in about how the new bridge is coming. Yeah but i havnt see it on any other news station

  • Ashame for us in Georgia...I've asked a few people I know around here and they ask "What bridge?"..

  • Wow i cant belive some people havnt heard of this. Worst moment in Minnesota history!

  • So is Channel 4, 11, and 5

  • man bump that if they want me to put my emergency vehicle on the bridge uh-uh

  • this is right next to my house

  • nice reusecue trucks!

  • white bear

  • Sorry I have got to ask Its been close to 6 months has there been any news on how it collapsed?

  • No complete report, but preliminary is saying the gusset plates were underdesigned.

  • and erosian on the metal

  • i was on that bridge. i was so lucky i did not die. i got knocked out and got a concussion

  • srry 2 hear that.

  • Please Taftkid13, he's still recovering and is slowly getting his reading/writing skills back, dont ruin it with leet language.

  • I rarely use that chatspeak.

  • ty i am recovering really well i just got 100 % recovered last month

  • Great.

  • i know someone lives right by the bridge and she used to cross it every day!!!!!! i am looking at it right now cause i can see it from the window!!!!!

  • wow this was boring

  • the assistance for the twin towers was burning jet fuel... why even have the hijacked airliners? why not just use the explosives in the first place? the thing about conspiring to do something is this: the fewer people that are in on it, the better. the more people that are involved in it risks the conspiracy getting out.

  • Notice how everyone wants to know how the Minnesota bridge collapsed but not how the twin towers collapsed on 9/11, or at least the media doesn't want to know. This alone just shows how quickly we forget about that day as Americans and how willing and ready we are to accept the official story about what happened on 9/11.

  • No one knows for sure what caused the bridge to collapse, and know what caused it could help prevent future collapses like this from happening, and of course they want to find out what caused it.. everyone knows how the towers fell, because planes hit them, and the heat melted the steel and made the buildings very weak...

  • WHAT?! Stop being dumb.

  • Conspiracy theories make me laugh..

such a bunch of paranoid idiots..

  • There were no explosives. So stop lying.

  • Do you live in Minneapolis, let alone Minnesota? Do you have any idea, ANY idea, about what goes on in the Minnesota state legislature? Do you have any idea how ridiculus you sound? Try this for a change, after reading this comment, re-read your own. then, log off of Youtube, and think about what your saying. Actually think. Try actually "opening" your brain up, rather than getting attention by preaching your god damn "hunches" as if they were scientific facts.

  • Answers: no, no,no.

I did all that and still find reasonalbe doubt.

I have spent 6 years in various civil engineering studies, and i am no expert.

"preaching your god damn "hunches" as if they were scientific facts."

    somebody need a hug.

if you buy the rusty nut reason, then you are a rusty nut.

This bridge was inspected about a month before it rusted apart.

    Naivety is an American speciality.

  • um your an idiot, i actualy live in the twin cities so people in the twin cities, let alone minnesota, would find out before you who think you know it all!!!!>:(

  • Well one way to identify a liar is if they call you an idiot.

Youtube attracts a certain conservative, Rush Limbaugh type of personality, who are terrified of questioning the party line.

Remember that bridge was inspected one month before collapse.

One would think they would have noticed that the bridge was rusting apart.

I am sorry if my speculation upsets you.

I guess this democracy suppresses alternate conclusions.

Why were 8 more bridges closed? Also rusted apart?

  • they found problems with the support.

  • Ok, so i souldnt know what is happening in my god damm state! I LIVE HERE!! WERE DID YOU HEAR ABOUT THE BRIDGE COLLAPASING?! WE SAW IT!!!! WE HEARD IT!!!! AND IT HAPPEN IN REAL TIME! NOT THE NEXT GOD DAMM DAY ON FOX NEWS!!!!

  • I reslly dont inderstand why YOU ARE YELLING AT ME?

Sre you insulted that terrorists are practicing blowing up bridges in YOUR MINNISOTA?

One thing i must say about youtubers; they are so naive.

Oh, and we are ALWAYS told the truth by our government.

    NEVER QUESTION AUTHORITY.

  • Today, 7/22 4:50PM PST, Congress was talking about the bridge, and they said the report of the rusty gassets was reported, but the bridge was not closed down, until too late.

A plan for the state to report corrosion to the proper federal authorities is considered.

Many bridges much older have corrosion but don't fall down.

So a review of safety of bridges is recommended. However with the present Bush administration, spending money domestically is trumped by the Iraq invasion.

  • So the bridge fell why, according to research?

  • I live in St. Paul Minnesota yes we want to know what happened and how the bridge went down. We still remember what happened the day of 9/11 and yes we do know what happened but for you to say that Americans forget so quickly is B.S we have a day that we remember everyone that lost there life in the 9/11 tragedy.

  • yep i am totally with you sir

  • But i think you need to look at it this way since our bridge went down theres more attention now on all the big bridges in the US i think you should be greatful that maybe someday it wont be you that this happens to just because now there doing the work on bridges that need to be done.

  • Hirsute63

    Yanks?

I like how this turns into a north vs south thing.

We won the war and you all (or YA'LL as you people put it) hate us for it..

    Oh well.. Life goes on..

Maybe if you spent less time cow tipping you would have more time to write something that means something.

  • LOL deftones! The Civil War continues to be fought my British friend, and always will. Only ignorant Southners use the term 'Ya'll', like Miss N.C.

  • wow, white bear lake showed up fast!

  • Good work. This really puts my video to shame. What kind of camera did you use?

  • It's Gorg Bush' fault. Also president Lincoln getting killed was also George Bush'es fault too. Hez so bad that even stuff from befor he waz born is hiz fault.

  • You Yanks don't half get over-excited about this sort of stuff. Anyway, this is boring, haven't you got any videos of, I dunno, a plane flying into a tower or something...?

  • Oh excuse me!

    Oh will you excuse me?

I'm just trying to find the bridge...

    Has anybody seen the bridge?

    Bridge?

    (Have you seen the bridge?)

    I ain't seen the bridge!

    (Where's that confounded bridge?)
