@ejdav I believe you. A couple of years ago, I found some of Narvel Felts songs on your channel. And actually, I have a few of them on a playlist now. Thanks for the uploads and "pearls."
@justmusicandme You just had to say "womething"???!!! what's that about??? Oh, I know, you type like I do....just picking on you a little. I always look forward to all your comments. Stay tuned!!
I remember that song so well... I was about 15 or 16 at the time. I thought and still think that is one of her most beautiful songs she has made.... My only regret over the years of seeing her preform... She has NEVER song that song while performing !!!!!!! It is a classic..!!!!!!!!
@eherbert20002 I have asked Pat personally to sing this song in her concerts..........she has refused. On one tour, she had her background singers do a medley of her hits at the beginning of her concert. As a favor to me, she did sing the "war cry" from the beginning of this song before the singers sang a few lines of the melody. I love Patti Labelle; but, let's face it. Her voice has not been in the shape to sing this song for many years. This song was recorded by a very young Patti.
i have always wanted to sing this song for my wedding......Never found a man who wanted a church wedding..Learned this for years. flip side of another song.60 years old and maybe still looking for mr right.
@mspeace59 This was NOT the flip side of another song. The original single was released in 1963 on the Newtown label as the "A" side. The "B" side was called "C'est La Vie." and was never intended to be played as an "A" side. "Down The Aisle" was a monster hit in the Baltimore, Washington, Philadelphia, Detroit, New York market. It did not, however, recieve much national distribution; hence, it only reached #34 on the "national" charts. In Baltimore, it reached #4. I remember it well!
I was in the viillage, in a club called the Gold Bug,in the early 60's,to see Patti and the blue belles do Down The Aisle, it was such a small place that i was able to speak to her right after the song ,if i remember correctly there were only a couple of tables that how small the place was
I will never forget how great she was then and how great she is now.
This was the song that made me fall in love with Patti Labelle and The Bluebelles. When the song came on the radio during the late summer and early fall of 1963, all of us kids would try to reach that note at the end. Of course, we were screaming and shrieking to hit that note and Patti got there effortlessly. In those days, every city had their own top 40,,,,,,,in Baltimore, this song hit #4 and was played on the radio all the time. Oh, the memories, it brings back! I loved them back then.
This is lovely. AND Loretta, I think you did top yourself this time. LOL! Join the club and thanks for the share. *****.
