• The Red Octane logo comes up, but its just frozen now?

  • @MiracleGamingHD That's never happened to me. :/ I don't know what to tell you. My only guess is that you somehow messed something up when you were making the custom disk. Maybe you burned it at an incorrect speed or you changed some files around or something. Try Google.

  • Comment removed

  • can you do this to any ps2 games now like the new ones like madden 11

  • @dannygranger3 This should work with any PS2 game/disk if you have the original copy and the modded copy. Some games might work without the original copy (using a different game disk) but I can't guarantee that for all games.

  • You guys been careful when you were using that jigsaw cutter no loosing any hands.

  • wtf you noob my anime hero still didnt work.

  • not bad cool tutorial guys maybe i will try it sometime

  • sabian que no es nesesario destrsar tu ps2 para jugar al guitar hero hack 3 =

knew that it is not proved necessary destrsar your ps2 to play guitar hero hack

  • love the song in the back grond

  • Ok I have tried this trick with taking the The magnet off and replacing it. It just doesn't work for me.

I restart the PS2 with the GH2 disc in and wait for the laser to go all the way out then back in. Then I replace the discs and put the magnet back on. It just continuously spins the disc. What do I do?

  • If it's doing that, it means that you're not swapping the disks at the exact right time. Keep trying! It should work. Once you get it down, you should be able to do it almost every time.

  • @Cm4nHC When the laser comes down, do I need to do it exactly when it comes back down or give it about a split second?

  • @Cm4nHC Do I need a DVD-R or a DVD+R? I have both made on each type of disc. And when I replace the disc it just continuously spins and the laser underneath just sits there. Doing nothing. But when I replace the copy back to the original disc, it runs perfectly. No problem. It just picks up where it left off.

    Help!

    :(

  • As far as the timing, I actually don't remember; it's been like two years since we did this. Sorry. Also, I believe we used DVD-Rs.

And when you don't swap it at the right time, the laser just sits there, yeah. IDK if we explained this in the video, but PS2s will not play burned games. When you 'swap' the disk, you are actually tricking the PS2 into thinking that it's playing the GH2 disk that you originally had in there. The trick is to swap the disk right after the system recognizes that...

  • ...the original GH2 disk is in the tray, and before it attempts to actually play the game that is on that disk. Just try to time the way that you swap it with the way we did in the video. I'm sorry that this isn't working, but it should be if you're doing it correctly.

I hope this helps, IDK what else to say.

  • so this won't work with the independence exploit im guessing?

  • screw all that ill just use the as magic swap bullshit as you put it i couldnt do that my hands are wayyy to shakey

  • Customized songs, songs you added into the game.

  • Gotit thanks! But one more question I thaught of... Is it possible to burn as many copies of the game as you like if you have enough blank discs and if so can you put different customs on each one?

  • Yes, you can do that. I don't know all of the different disk formats that are supported, but I'm pretty sure that "DVD-R"s will work.

  • There is one question I would like to know; Why do you need to have a modded PS2 in order to play guitar hero customs?

  • Because PS2s are designed to not play disks that were modified, or that are not official Sony-authorized disks.

  • I have a better idea buy swap magic with the slide tool and burn your guitar hero custom disc and play it! much easier then this and plus you don't have to break your ps2

  • Slide tools fuck your PS2 up. The reason we did it this way was because the slide tool messed up our disk tray, causing us to take apart the PS2. When we had it taken apart, we realized that we could just swap the disk in a similar way to how one would swap a disk with swap magic, except instead of using swap magic, we removed the case.

  • o because the reason why i wrote that is because i have swap magic for almost 1 year already and nothing happened but sry to hear that

  • Oh, haha. Well, thanks for the input then!

  • What's the point when you're switching the original GH disk to custom? Even if you switch the disks you'll play the same game lol.... And you can't switch the original game disk to custom other game disk, because it won't work.

  • i hate the fat ps2 they break easy

  • Cm4nHC man how can i burn those cd's?

  • Do you already have the files ready to be put on the disk? I think there are a few tutorials here on Youtube showing how to make the custom disks.

  • can you make a vid for the small ps2..the new small silver one

  • We don't have one, but I'm guessing there are some other videos on Youtube that show how to mod one of those.

  • couldnt you just not put the lid back on? saves desroying the case

  • ok what u can do is just buy a 360 they are only 200 or a ps3 so this way u dont have 2 do all this $H1T and void ur warranty

  • well, the one dude said about taking the sticker off voids the warranty, but im pretty sure cutting a big whole in the top is more damaging than taking the sticker off :P

  • Yeah, I know, lol. We we just saying that after taking the sticker off, there is no "going back".

  • actually, i removed mine without making the little circles on the sticker appear, so there is a way to remove it and put it back on. but luckily for me, i just softmoded my PS2, so i had no need for it (I just watched it cause it was in my recomended vids :P)

  • I guess that works. 0_o

  • Or just buy an xbox 360 lol

  • To aaronkundla, I ended up breaking my friend's 360 by putting a custom GH in there. So yea, don't try it unless you've watched a tutorial to help keep the DVD-R from falling into the 360. Nice vid guys by the way, but I'm already scared after having broken my friend's 360, I'm gonna find a different way to mod my PS2.

  • dude you really need a slim cause if you have to bring in drills just to mod it then i will not mod my ps2 if i was you

  • can u mod mide fro me ill pay cash

  • No, sorry.

  • okk

  • don't do it while it's on...no shit.

  • What Type of DVD-R disk do you need. I have 8x will that work?

  • I think you can use an 8x, but you have to burn it at 4x.

  • How do I burn it to 4x?

  • Whatever program you use to create the disk should allow you to burn it at different rates. (4x, 8x, etc.)

  • Alright thanks for the info

  • Yup.

  • You guys added a lot of un-necessary steps. You don't have to drill holes or any of that shit, just take the top off.

  • Umm, I'm just pointing out something you have in the description.

    Q) Can I open the disk tray?

    A) Never open the disk tray without taking off the magnet. If the magnet is on when you eject the dick tray, the disk tray will get stuck.

  • u said soft modding in the video, this is hard modding.

  • Well, sorry.

  • just pointing out that u nade a mistake

  • dude can you make a video of how the game looks when you play the custom songs?

  • Maybe this summer. I don't have access to that PS2 right now (it's not mine).

  • Will this work with any burned PS2 game?

  • I think so. Not 100% sure though.

  • hey, how do u make a custom cd? is it just a blank cd filled with different songs?

  • Look around for some tutorials online. ScoreheroDOTcom has some good ones on their software forum.

  • Can't I just do all this with the cover off so I don't have to out out the top?

  • does this work for rock band? & you said look at your other tutorials for making customs but there is no video of customs. can you tell me how to make customs? PLEASE

  • look at the bottom of the discription...

  • do you need a certain type of disc. And what are you doin with tthe disc are you puting songs on there or are you copying the whole game onto the disk? do you need to use a CD-R (for burning music) or DVD-RW (for burning movies) and does this work for rockband as well as any other game?

  • what kind of disc do you need? A CD-R or DVD-RW. Like a blank cd to put music on or does it have to be a dvd disc. & can you do this for rockband also?

  • DVD-R, and IDK.

  • ok thanks

  • when you say "customs" do you mean like songs you downloaded from limewire for example on a black disc?

  • Custom songs are songs you mod/hack onto the game.

  • i saw something that said the lens that reads the disc has a class 1 laser to read it and if u look at it, u go blind, so how am i supposed to do this. did u guys look at the laser?

  • wut if my ps2 is the new slim version?

  • Do you have to re-attach your ps2 cover?

  • not if you don't want to.

  • do you think it would break a 4 year old ps2?

  • hmm.... i dont want to make my ps2 look ugly.... even tho it already is ugly.....

    still nice tut

  • How high is the risk of breaking your ps2?

  • IDK. If you're careful, you probably wont brake it.

  • So, basically, all you need to do is make a big hole in the top?

  • Yup. If you don't want to do that, you can just take the top off.

  • hey u can do that u dont have to cut it and stuff u take top off and do it tooken apart u dont have to cut it but good job!

  • I have no idea.

  • can u also do this to play games from japan??

  • is this JUST for GH??

  • dude ur awesome. ur awesome. dude ur awesome. ur awesome. dude ur awesome. ur awesome. dude ur awesome. ur awesome. dude ur awesome. ur awesome. dude ur awesome. ur awesome. dude ur awesome. ur awesome. sorry too much coffee :I but ur awesome! =D

  • it works for real i did it. i made customs and i play them all the time this trick is awesome thanks.

  • lol games and guiters gollor

  • Could I play imported Ps2 games using this method?

  • wow ! smart little kids :))

  • I can't find the video on how to create custom disks. Can you put up the link.

  • It's in the description.

  • the links don't work, it says the vids were removed due to terms of use violation

  • Oh wow.....um......try searching on youtube for some other tutorials, IDK.

  • if the power ribbon rips off can you fix it?

  • Yeah, but it's kinda hard to do. It happened to us, but we managed to fix it.

  • How did you get the top off without breaking or tearing out the power ribbon? The ribbon, eject button, and reset button are all attached to my lid and when you are sawing the top there is obviously not ribbon or buttons attached.

  • Look in the video description >>>

  • freakin awesome dude

  • does it work on a fat ps2?

  • Yes.

  • how do u do it with gh3 custom disks???

  • I'm not actually sure.

  • aukay, doesn't that hurt?

  • u guys are nuts, but it worked, so im gunna trust ye guys.

byt what happened with ur arm?

  • He broke it snowboarding.

  • 1. You guys are crazy.

    2. Got enough guitars already?

  • what does that do

  • your realy ugly dud but your cool and thanks

  • can you do it with any guitar hero?

  • alright great awesome

now just one question, does the custom game have to be same as the game you put in first?

Lets say I have GH3 custom game, but can I put GH:Aerosmith in than take it out and put the custom game in?

  • Yes, I think it has to be the same disk.

  • You guys Are NUTS!!!!! ahhhh I would never chance doing that to my ps2 !!!

  • Well we would :)

  • why not you can just get a used one for 30 bucks

  • hmm i suck at the timing, im not sure if its the game i have tho, ive done all i needed to do with the custom etc. its a 7gig DVD disk, the swap is sooooo hard timing, i can never get it right >.>

  • wait u dont hav to cut the top off u can just leave it open

  • dame lol 7 guitars a wii, Xbox 360 and ps3 and i thought i was rich

  • hey whats th sliver things for?...so i remove it?...and where do u get a screw that small for the inside O.o??

  • so after doing this, could i make my own songs on GH3? cause ive seen videos of people some who doing it

  • great work guys

  • where is the video for making the song disk?

  • There's a link to it in the description.

  • if all u need to do is swap the disks, why don't you just keep the top off? tht way you don't have to cut out the rectangle and risk amputating your friends hand.... just a thought, i think it would b easier

  • It says that in the description.

  • Cant to get DVD Decrypter to do what its suppose to do. Any help?

  • Try and re-download or reinstall it.

  • kind of worked some songs playable not all customs though

  • It might be the way you burned/made the disk, but idk.

  • I don't think this will work for GH3 because I don't think your computer can read it like GH,GH2, and Rocks the 80s.

  • can u do this with any other game?

  • hmm... im using DVD+R and Im getting to the RedOctane symbol.. no further.

Do you have any recomendations on how to burn the disk?

  • O jeez....did you burn it at 4X?

  • I got it to work! Well, it did not have anything to do with the burning progress.

Apparently my old and fat ps2 works different from yours. I have to swap disks when the laser moves for the first time.

    Thanks! custom GH2 is awezum.

  • can all this work with gh3?????????

  • If you make the disk right, I'm guessing it would. I am not 100% sure though.

  • In the video it said it does not matter how quickly you swap the disc, just as long as you do it when the laser is at the right point. How long does the laser stay at that point?

  • Maybe about 3 - 8 seconds. I'm not completely sure.

  • How about if you want to play your burned games

do you do the same thing? other videos say you do but there not working

  • will this work for guitar hero 3? Ive tried this method a billion times and it doesent work for me... I think I might just have burned the disk wrong

  • good question. I have no idea what the answer is.

  • lol thanks anyway

  • Is theere a way to do what you did but without cutting a big hole in it? cant you just leave the top off and put it on once you swap?

  • so is it possible to get the middle white piece out without breaking anything?

  • thanx man works great

  • Man, I need to mod my PS2, so I can play KHFM, but if my dad and aunt catch me doing this to my PS2, they'd kill me. xD

  • Why? :O

  • nice, though i wonder how many ppl screwed up their ps2 tyring. haha, pretty awesome though. although i dont think i'm desperate enough to try it just for a few songs...ya...still cool.

  • you should use a dremmel instead of a jigsaw though... it will look better.

  • Yes the laser is very bad for your eyes, don't ever look straight into it. However, it is not even close to being one of the most dangerous lasers out there.

  • how do you do this with a small skinny ps2?

  • I don't know how to mod a slim PS2. Search it on youtube or google.

  • will the swaping only work if the copy is the same type of game as the original or can they be completly different

  • its all great and cool. but good luck with that laser radiation.u should look sraight into it. i heard its lots of fun. jk cool video

  • seems like it would work but isnt that kinda bad for yer eyes to likelook at the laser and stuff. i dont know just sayin...

  • hey guys, do you know how to do it with a PS2 Slim? plz reply sum1

  • just search it on youtube, i found so many videos on it

  • you are freaking gods i love you guys thanks so much

  • great work :] imma try this!

  • how dou do it with a flat ps2?

  • lol, using custom GH songs in the ps2 is sorta like the equivalent of using an Action Replay with a Nintendo DS. like, i mean u have to trick the system, by swapping the disc.

  • nice cast, lol. Had one jut like it on my arm a couple years ago.

  • "I am not responsible if your PS2 breaks! If you are not gentle or if you have an old PS2, your console can brake." What do you mean by old PS2? You have an old(fat) PS2 in the video. So...old as in fat, or what?

  • IDK why I said that. I'm guessing that older will brake easier.

  • "Once you take it off, it voids the warranty", well there's 2 reasons why it doesn't really matter...

    1. It's not like PS2s get red ring of death, so u probably wont have to get it fixed.

    2. If it does ever break, u can get a used one for like $50 at gamestop.

  • Good Point

  • Yeah but some parents care, and get REALLY pissed at you for breaking a game system.

Hell, my parents get mad if I screw up burning a disc. XD

  • ummm when r u gunna make the vid on how to make ur custom disc? or what ever its called

  • is there a way to do it without chopping ur ps2 in half

  • yes you just leave the top off instead of cutting it

  • it works better on a flat ps2

  • know if you can do it on PS3? and sweet ibanez by the way

  • awesomeeee

  • why dont you just keep the top off?

  • 1) Because we fell that its safer to do it this way. (By safer I mean the end result is safer) You can keep the top off if you want to.

    2) Because the inside of a PS2 doesn't look so attractive.

  • dude how do i do it with my little slim ps2?

  • after doing this my ps2 worked at first but now the disc keeps scrapping on something and i think it hits the thing the eye is on, does anyone know what the problem is or why its doing this?

  • The only advice I have is try opening and closing the disk tray. I've never heard of that happening before. Also, try using google to help you, because I have no experience with that problem.

  • question?

why do you have to cut out a sqaure in the top of the ps2 to see the disc. why cant you just do the hole prosses with the top off. it would be alot safer

  • Good question, that's what I want to know

  • Oh my god you two, it says in the description. And it says to read the description in the video.

  • k. thanks

  • DAMN A LOT OF GUITARS

  • awesomeee!!!!

    good job fellas!

better than a lot of the crap i've seen out here.
