I really love the sound of this guitar! You're wonderful guitarist! I hope someday i'll have a guitar to play! Everyday i dream about this! you're lucky man! Keep the Fire! with Love!
He is an amazing guitarist. I think he must've studied a fair amount of SRV. Alot of that stuff is reminiscent to my ears. I love how he has his own tone as well. On SRV there are some live clips out there and I have never heard anyone get the incredible juicy and spitting strat tone that he gets. Robben Ford is another one with great technique and feel. Love em all.
It's called a "Les Paul"...hehe...as if you didn't allready know that. Couldn't resist being an a-hole :-) I don't know the year, but considering it's *Joe* I wouldn't be surprised if it's a 59 or something in the rockstar pricerange. He also has his own (normally priced) Les Paul signature model out there...
@Akurodam That particular Les Paul is a 1959 Reissue, either aged or unaged by Tom Murphy. Most special about this one is it contains original PAF pickups, off a 1963 Gibson.
hmm. Just one amp? Maybe a Silver Jubilee or Budda Superdrive alone would do it. Most of that tone is in his hands though, tbh, so don't expect it to be a total magic bullet unless you can really bend, pace, and vibrato well (where most of the unique tone comes from, imo).
his sound is in his fingers.. that really it.. the amp and guitar are secondary to that..if you're good, you can get very close to this with any guitar/amp
This is such an amazing video. Every single guitar player should be forced to watch this video. Idiots. thinking playing fast is all that matters. Whenever I show someone my playing I show them how easy it is to play fast, super fast shread. Then show them dynamics and the true power of a single note.
@parklife101 Many times all of us see a player that play incredibly fast like Yngwie Malmsteen, Herman Li and many many others, but these players DON'T SAY ANYTHING in his music. Shredding all the time can be BORED!!!! That's the reason that many players must listen blues and jazz music to see for themselves that speed is JUST A TOOL. This video of Joe showing the importance of Dynamics in the phrasing is a right example of it.
Joe Bonamssa is the best blues/rock guitar player around. I went to one of his shows once, that was what made me want to play blues guitar.

When I listen to Joe play it just makes me wanna grab my guitar; so much more than other players would. Weird.
I think Joe is definately a fresh breath of air when it comes to playing, even if he has been around for 20 years.

Guys, I want my guitar to sound at least close to Joe Bonamassa.
But I know that his set up is way too expensive.
So can someone help me?
I can only afford one amp (maybe a marshall one)
I already have a Gibson LP, so I think that's helpfull...thanks!!

The amp on this is a $250 epiphone blues valve (something like that but it is not his live rig). It sounds good!
