    god bless you all

    :) xoxo

  • I love this song, its crazy they used America and a classical music piece in it (Gymnopedie #1). One of Janets best, if not best album.

  • Satie - gymnopedie 1.... going classic...love it

  • Love it

  • My all time favourite song, used to be my lullaby as a kid, and made me have dreams of being in a fast car, just racing through a city and the through the woods. I loved this song so much, and listening to it, has started to awaken my passion for it's melody yet again.

  • really love this instrumental and song!

  • Why does everyone whine and complain when someone samples a few seconds of a whole song? I never hear anyone complaining when artists cover ENTIRE songs and actually profit from the cover later on.

  • POINT IS... the guitar is beautiful. thank you, America. the rest of the beat is amazing as well.

frankly, if you heard the original, who wouldnt want to sample that riff? its just so pleasing to the ear.

  • Honestly, the original artists ok'd the use of their work as a sample. Too many fans getting upset over nonsense.

  • I'm getting irritated with people whinin' over today's artists usin' samples from their idols! Why can't they just be influenced by them?! Janet used Luther Vandross' song "Glow of Love" for "All For You"

  • People it's not Americas "beat " that Janet stole .Ventura highway has a 4/4 beat like just about most of todays music. It is the guitar that she "samples" The main guitar riff and the rythm guitar. Without this she would have nothing. Regardless of weather or not she got permission to use Ventura highway. The only thing she did was speed up the 4/4 beat to make it more of a dance song and change they lyrics".Everybody samples" is both not true and is by no means a defense for this crap.

  • we have to write an original song for music for musicals we're writing and i wanted to use this instrumental version of this song and my friend said this wasnt real music and played a katy perry song so i said just becuase you dont know janet jackson doesnt mean it isn't real music and almost all of my options were janet jackson songs...my group got tired of me picking her songs

  • the song is a classic, fcuk the fact that she sampled it.. honestly who gives a shit? just enjoy the damn song..

  • hi this is my cover ^_^

  • @MrBuc128 According to Webster's a musician is, "a composer, conductor, or performer of music;". America and Erik Satie composed the instrumental parts of the song and Janet sang over it. They're all musicians. Just because you don't like the music and/or agree with the way they create their sounds doesn't mean they suddenly aren't musicians.

  • @MrBuc128 well why aren't you famous yet then? if it's so easy?

  • @svendiamond See that's exactly what I'm talking about. Music should not be about being famous. It's an artistic expression. The only thing these Hip Hop artists care about is getting famous and rich.Actually being a talented musician is of no concern to them. The fact that you equate being famous with being talented shows how little you now about music.

  • @MrBuc128 lol... wow... just wow. take a step back from the computer... and find something else to do, typical YouTuber. Loaded with insults... everyone else is a hack. Everyone else doesn't know about music. Just you. So where are your songs? If it's so easy to make this music, why haven't you done it yet? Janet was already super famous when she made this song by the way... besides everything is a remix. not just hip-hop. all genres copy each other. you're the definition of the word "hater"

  • @svendiamond Just because someone is famous it does not mean they are talented.I thought I made that clear. Two examples.Rebecca Black and Milli Vannili

  • @MrBuc128 when did i say that being famous = talented? i didn't. i am asking you where your songs are... ?? if it's so easy... besides everyone has always sampled things... just google "everything is a remix" and watch the video... movies, tv shows, music, all of it uses samples of previous ideas... i mean shit, how many versions of "the look of love" are there? you're calling people untalented just for doing covers/remixes? if it's so easy, then why don't you make some hit song?

  • @svendiamond I can't stress this enough. What Janet Jackson did is not a cover. She just took the original recording that America had made about 30 years before and put it on an endless loop. A cover is completely different. She needed a cool guitar riff for a song and rather than write one herself or even have a studio musician come up with one she just took it from Ventura Highway.

  • @Gibsonhb1 Sampling is an art form, buddy. Just because this particular song is a loop doesn't mean sampling is easy. Once again, you ignored my question. Where are your songs? If it's so easy? There are plenty of producers who chop rare samples and make completely new works out of them. 9th Wonder, DJ Premier, J. Dilla... etc. And hello, it's not like they're "ripping them off" they give credit to the original artist.

  • @svendiamond I did not ignore your question .My answer is that I have no interest in becoming famous by taking someone elses songs changing the lyrics and calling them my own. I am not a proffesional musician nor do I claim to be. I do however have every right to critique those that do claim to be proffesionals. If I were to become famous which seems to be the only criteria by which seem judge music I would hope it would be because of music I created and not from singing to an old record.

  • @MrBuc128 What is all this about becoming famous? Janet Jackson was a major star already when she made this song. She didn't do it "to become famous" -- it's just a cool song. If anything you should be happy that young people are listening to America because otherwise they would've never heard that riff. America got paid for this song, also, you know. Musicians have been doing remixes forever. Steely Dan sampled Horace Silver, Led Zeppelin stole the Stairway to Heaven riff from Spirit... etc etc

  • @MrBuc128 Well u see sampling music does not diminish or lower the value of the original or makes anyone less of a person. Yeah maybe this is America's beat.

But it's a new generation, making an old song more up beat just gives it a more dancy or seductive feeling. Now don't get me wrong Ventura Highway is still great but I mean my generation also thought it was a good song and hence this song was produced.

  • @SephirothxAngel First of all it's not America's beat that she uses it's the opening guitar riff and rythm guitar that she samples. Although I would not expect you to be familiar with guitar music when you listen to someone like Janet Jackson.

  • @MrBuc128 Are u an idiot? LoL don't answer, you'll probably give me the wrong answer.

If any artist uses a part of another persons song it's sampling. get it?

No arguement here it's a fact

Also I didn't understand the point of that comment unless it was to tell me wrong information "First of all it's not America's beat that she uses it's the opening guitar riff and rythm guitar that she samples"

You said it yourself last three words.

  • @SephirothxAngel Yes Einstein I used the word samples because this is the term used in the music industry. It's all just semantics. You can call it any name you want but the bottom line is those that do "Sample" do so because they haven't the talent to write something original themselves.

  • @MrBuc128 Oh that's what it is, not because maybe they are inspired by the person or any other reason, because u know everyone's thoughts and reasoning. Yup yup yup, that's what it is. Go home ~.~

  • @MrBuc128 Honestly I think artists should stop sampling songs and be original. This is America's Ventura Highway. Artists today can't play an instrument. You can't make music without conducting it. Yah try making a beat when you can't play anything to make a beat from.

  • People this song is called Ventura Highway by a band called America. It has been around since 1972 all Janet did was change the lyrics and add an electronic beat. . If you want to see people with real musical talent than type in Ventura highway and watch America play the song that they wrote live.

  • @lob287 Oh my God,thank you for this info! the song is awesome!
