  • Dear Colin,

Thank you very much for sharing your wonderful teniques. I would like to ask you the tree at 9:18 that I suppose you drew with watercolor first whether we can create so realistically with pastel pencils?

You inspire us a lot. God bless you!

  • @saokicucvay Thank you for your kind comments. To answer your question, it is possible to create realistic trees with the pastel pencil in fact starting at the end of April I am staring a spectacular landscape series including trees on my pastel site, would be worth a look. Best regards Colin.

  • Colin,

I work mostly in oils, soft pastel and watercolour.

I used pastel pencil for fine detail in my pastels. Then I had to rescue a watercolour, and hit on using pastel. Wow! It worked!. Now of course I'm going to try a miniature with pastel pencils alone. Thank you for the inspiration. And for the nice guitar track too, another thing I struggle with!

    Regards

    John W.

  • Dear Mr. Bradley, It's a very interesting technique! Thanks a lot for this video!

The picture is very realistic and beautiful. Especially trees.

What kind of brushes do you use?

    Best regards Anna (Russia)

  • @Andreevskaya1810 Hi Anna, glad you liked the video. I use a variety of different brushes some are sable and some of them are good quality student type. Best regards Colin.

    Great work!

  • @arneduym Thank you for your kind comment.

    Regards Colin.

  • Dear Mr. Bradley, I love this video. I tend to work a lot with acrylics these days, can you use pastel over an acrylic painting? Excellent work and I hope more watercolour and pastel videos will follow. Have you any plans to release these demonstrations onto DVDs?

  • @horrorfan24 Thank you for your comments and your interest. It is possible to use pastel pencils over the top of acrylic but I don't think it will work as well as it does with watercolour. At the moment I do not have any plans to make a DVD covering this technique but who knows I may do in the future.

    Kind regards Colin.

  • Hello Colin,

I couldn't believe to see this video - some days ago I thought about combining watercolours ( watercolour pencils wet) with pastel pencils and played a bit around. Now seeing this videos made me soooooo happy!! Lucky chance or whatever - I will follow this demo.

I can't await to see more of your watercolours and to see the new homepage and more wc-videos!

    Warmest regards, Martina (Germany)

Forgot: Which paper do you use for 'Dedham Mill'?

  • Hi Martina Nice to hear from you again. I am glad that you enjoyed the clip it is very exciting to combine watercolour and pastel pencil together. However If you follow the watercolour picture on my 'watercolormadeeasy' site I think you will find that my watercolour alone would stand up on it's own. And all clips from this site wil not feature the pastel pencils. I used watercolour paper for the painting.

    Best regards Colin.

  • Thank you so much for another wonderful video. Wish, could meet you :-)
