@SteveVithal If you seriously believe that the ad was planned in the week following that, you're an idiot. Or are you suggesting they should have 1) canned the whole campaign, or 2) waited a bit?
@wuzzlevideos If you seriously believe that I was being serious when I made that comment eight months ago then you're an even bigger idiot than you imagine me to be.
And how insensitive to that poor man's memory you're being.
That green one, the Ford Mondeo Wagon? What year is that? 2001, 2002, 2003, 2004, 2005 or 2006? That green sedan, the Subaru Impreza WRX STi? (Don't know what year is that green sedan, I think it's from the late 90's or early 2000's.) And that top car the 2005 Nissan Maxima, is that right? Answer all these questions, New Zealand YouTubers! I will be looking forward to that answers soon!
NZ is better than Australia atleast. I am a kiwi who went through the NZ licensing and my partner is an aussie going through their system. At least in NZ you take two physical driving tests and cant drive unsupervised with passengers until your full licence, in aussie you take one physical test to go onto your P1 and then you can drive with passengers whenever you like without a supervising driver. Then you only have two theory tests and your on your full.
You can drive with passengers up until 11pm, then the only passengers you can have are family members. We're allowed passengers obviously because we're safer drivers, your government doesn't trust you guys behind the wheel.
Yes, I agree - this ad is the worst that LTNZ/LTSA has ever made. It's dubious physics (I'd far rather fall vertically than crash into a lamp-post at the same speed, wouldn't you?) but it's also not nearly as real-life as the 'Don't Worry' ad. I think it's the voice-over that wrecks it. "your body impacts" is just bad English. -Alex
Does it matter whether it's horizontal or vertical? It's still an impact at a certain speed. PS, I have the Don't Worry ad (and a shitload more) on my channel.
Yeah, "When you drive a speeding car, you will definitely fall from a massive height." I don't think that's what he meant. I think he confused himself into believing that a crash would make you TRAVEL the number of floors, when clearly the message was that the impact was similar. Except worse, probably - horizontal impact at that speed, especially whilst compact in a seated position, is probably at least slightly worse.
I remember this ad, shot in Troy Street. A week before this ad came out a man jumped/fell off one of those buidlings. Obviously he died.
How insensitive of LTNZ, milking a man's tragic end just to wow us with effects.

fucken waste of money in advertising.. they should improve the licensing system so that you need to be able to drive to actually pass the test.

They said the impact is LIKE falling... not IS.

It's complete lies. The LTSA New Zealand web site gives the maths. They lie to make the ad 90kph in a car equals 5 floors.
