This song, needs two people singing it (Pete and Carl of course, but even if it were to be covered, it should have two). The lyrics show an argument and an appeal to come back together between the two. Without the exchange, its missing something.
And yeah, they were both better together, obviously. But why are so many people down on DPT? I liked them, even if a few songs on the second album (like its only single) were awful. Most were very good.

The chemistry between Pete and Carl is required for either of them to be as good as they were. I've seen Babyshambles, and Pete solo live, and although he was still brilliant, he's better with Carl.
Carl on the other hand doesn't have the songwriting ability to succeed on his own. He can sing, he can play, and he's a good frontman, but needs Pete as much as Pete needs him.

You should try to find "The Libertines - Bound Together" which is a really nice book about the Libertines. It's really interesting and tells you these small things.

The Doherty/Barat partnership is one of the best song writing partnerships this country has ever made, but this song isnt the same without Pete, although Carl makes it sound so emotional you just cant have the libertines without Pete.
this performance is phenomenal and deserves more credit, barat is so emotional it makes me cry however pete is needed however this performance is special and should also be applauded as it is terrific however the libs cant survive without pete there just not the same ....Bring back the libs barat should have been waiting at the prison doors as he did before but he still should schedule a gig preferably a reunion tour
