These guys are a joke. This is by far the worst period in heavyweight boxing history! There has been nothing to see in heavyweight boxing since Lennox Lewis passed his prime. It's such a sad time when the highlight of boxing is now in the lightweight division and even that is a relative joke compared to the historical lightweights. It's so sad that even boxing fans are now having to turn their attention to the UFC.
If the handlers of this sport know what is good for them, they'll invest in building up another Iron Mike Tyson as soon as possible. These bums don't count for anything except to drag the sport into oblivion. We're truly in a sad time in boxing and these guys are the cause.

the klitschko's are the most unjustifiably attacked heaveyweights ever. they can be robotic at times but the style is 100% effective for them. thats what intelligent fighters do, they perfect their own strengths. vitali is one of the toughest heavyweights ever. wladimir is unstoppable right now. vitali gave lennox lewis (immense) the toughest fight of his career and was winning on points easy. most klitschko haters are slaves to a flag (UK, US etc). this nationalistic view obscures the reality.

Although I do think the Klitschkos have more support in the UK than most people think. When they fought Haye/Chisora a lot of people in the UK wanted them to win and the media coverage of them is fairly positive.
There are actually quite a lot of Russians in Germany, 500,000 were described as being "ethnic russians" and 3.5 million can speak Russian.
Many fans also fly to Germany, from Moscow to Berlin it's just a 3 hour flight max. Take Mayweather-Hatton for example, in their fight it was a predominantly british crowd by far.
You also have to take their race into account. Europe has an extreme amount of nationalists and racists, a racist will always root for their race.
Soccer has a huge amount of nationalist fans. It's country vs country, France vs. Germany, England vs Mexico vs Brazil etc. It's by far the most popular sport in the world with over a billion fans, you can find thousands of articles on nationalism in soccer.
Sports fans are generally fans of other sports, so it's pretty safe to say a lot of these nationalist soccer fans are also fans of boxing. Combine that with the large amount of racists in Europe.

The US is the most ethnically diverse country in the whole world with people from all over the world, when I go to school I go to school with Asians, swedes, indians, mexicans, puerto ricans, blacks etc. Whereas Europe is a predominantly white continent.

Europe never evolved like the U.S did because of so little immigrants of different races, leaving nationalism to run rampant as well as racism. There are currently over 50 million hispanics living in the U.S, 15+ million Asians, 40 million+ blacks, 2 million indians etc. There are tons and tons of interracial couples.
If you simply do the research you'll find thousands of articles on nationalist soccer fans in Europe.

@MrKiwi4life I just feel like his title run was pretty short and he never had a great opponent he could beat. He beat Spinks, Holmes, Tucker, Thomas and Bruno. All pretty damn decent fighters really. But he never beat a great fighter, other then the past it Holmes. Mike was very exciting, and brought a lot of attention to this sport I love. That, to me, is his legacy. If he would've cleaned out Holyfield, Moorer, Bowe and Lewis, then he would be one of the best,if not the best,ever.
@dan4579 @ 5'10", with a 71" reach, Iron Mike was undoubtedly the most devastating HW fighter in history. And I seriously doubt that any of the MMA types would have lasted thirty seconds with him when he was in his prime. His speed was deceptive, and any who thought him slow should realize that his power came from his speed and agility more than his strength. Sadly, Mike's ego, the boxing system itself, and too many other negative substances proved to be his undoing.

I think it was his speed and accuracy, combined with his ability to hit you with punches you dont see coming that led to so many flashy ko's. When he slowed down a bit, the ko's were much harder to come by. I disagree a bit with the last part. I think better competition also played a big role in his undoing, IMO.
@dan4579 I didn't mention that part, but it's a good point. By my real point was really about his overall size. He was kind of like a small block V8 with a longer than factory stroke and a slightly enlarged bore. This equation inevitably results in an incredible gain of Torque, Horse Power, and Speed. In boxing, all three of these combined equal impact on delivery. And Iron Mike had several tons of this.

It's such a sad time when the highlight of boxing is now in the lightweight division and even that is a relative joke compared to the historical lightweights. There are actually quite a lot of Russians in Germany, 500,000 were described as being "ethnic russians" and 3.5 million can speak Russian.
Many fans also fly to Germany, from Moscow to Berlin it's just a 3 hour flight max. Take Mayweather-Hatton for example, in their fight it was a predominantly british crowd by far.
You also have to take their race into account. Europe has an extreme amount of nationalists and racists, a racist will always root for their race.

Soccer has a huge amount of nationalist fans. It's country vs country, France vs. Germany, England vs Mexico vs Brazil etc. It's by far the most popular sport in the world with over a billion fans, you can find thousands of articles on nationalism in soccer.
Sports fans are generally fans of other sports, so it's pretty safe to say a lot of these nationalist soccer fans are also fans of boxing. Combine that with the large amount of racists in Europe.

Soccer is seen as a wimpy sport because there isn't any contact IMO. Soccer is actually the most played youth sport in America. When we reach around 12 years old we reach the "7th" grade of school, that is when we are finally allowed to play Am. Football etc.

And I seriously doubt that any of the MMA types would have lasted thirty seconds with him when he was in his prime. His speed was deceptive, and any who thought him slow should realize that his power came from his speed and agility more than his strength. Sadly, Mike's ego, the boxing system itself, and too many other negative substances proved to be his undoing.

I think it was his speed and accuracy, combined with his ability to hit you with punches you dont see coming that led to so many flashy ko's. When he slowed down a bit, the ko's were much harder to come by. I disagree a bit with the last part. I think better competition also played a big role in his undoing, IMO.

He was kind of like a small block V8 with a longer than factory stroke and a slightly enlarged bore. This equation inevitably results in an incredible gain of Torque, Horse Power, and Speed. In boxing, all three of these combined equal impact on delivery. And Iron Mike had several tons of this.
