@EqualAndFree well we have a strong catholic church in europe. and the haters become stronger and stronger (religious and other fundamentalistic groups). of course western europe is ahead of the united states, but the us is in general is just not on the standart of other "civilized/modern" countries. but one shouldnt forget that europe is not only the eu. we have all the former east bloc countries here as well. poland, lithuania, macedonia, croatia and the worst is of course white russia.

Bitter, party of one here. But my bitterness toward other gay People (I myself am gay) is very VERY jaded. I do not believe the inner workings of most gay relationships are genuinely joyful with a few possible exceptions. Nobody said life would be easy and I do wish all other gay people all the happiness in the world. But from my experience few if any stand a chance without the time tested conventions of the support of church family and state.

They do not look AT ALL happy, but rather resigned to the inevitability of their plight. They definitely are NOT happy as parents might be when they give away their daughter on wedding day! I admire them for their understanding. I just wish they could be more naturally proud and much more happy!
