you would get no power gain on such a small engine.your using a turbo for a 4 cylinder engine on a shit briggs engine that hardly revs to 4000 rpm if it doesnt blow up ever hear of turbo lag thats all you will ever get .all these lawnmower videos are false they dont work just for looks and looks crap

@jpkeenan You are a fool. Turbo lag is time between when you press the gas, and when the turbo begins to build boost press. It has nothing to do with rpm. While i'm sure that engine will not produce enough drive press to create 20 psi, i am sure that it spins the turbo fast enough to create some measurable boost press. Remember, the engine can't be inhaling much, so it would nt take much shaft speed for the turbo to move more air than the engine is using, and begin to create boost press.

I don't see how this thing makes enough exhaust volume to spool that turbo. Even the smallest IHI Rb series would have trouble on such a tiny engine... What are those things, .4 liter?

acctually a blow thru will work when air is sucked thru a carb the air moving past the jet in the ventura acts like a siphon and draws the fuel out so more air moving thru it the more fuel is added . only thing that makes an engine run faster is more air more fuel
When air is sucked through a carb, That is a "Draw Through" setup. When air is forced(Blown) through, it is called a "Blow Through" setup. I have 2 turbocharged mustangs, 1 efi, and 1 Blow through carb, I also have a Supercharged mustang with a blow through carb. Blow through works... and works well. Modifications need to be made to the carb to work as a blow through, but it isn't hard.
I can't tell from the vid, but if he actually has the carb mounted before the turbo(Draw thru), this setup should really work. All the other vids i've seen have the turbo is blowing into the carb. Blow thru systems on these Cannot work because any boost will blow fuel back into the jet(s). bad

Last time you checked Ford didn't have a Taurus SHO powered by it's new Ecoboost line. The orignal SHO 89-95 was powered by either a 3.0 (manual) or 3.2 (automatic) V6 built entirely by Yamaha. From 96-99 the Updated SHO got a 3.4 V8 that was based off of Ford's 2.5 Duratec block and heads cast and assembled by Yamaha. The BRAND NEW Taurus SHO with the 3.5 twin turbo Duratec V6 is ALL Ford.
Ford has many engines under the Duratec name. Same basic design with larger bore or different stroke. the 3.0 Duratec can be found in multiple Ford vehicles, Tauri, Escapes, Freestyle, Five-Hundred etc. The new version of the Duratec engine is the the 3.5 which is found in most new applications and is Twin Turbocharged in some applications known as "EcoBoost"

I can't tell from the vid, but if he actually has the carb mounted before the turbo(Draw thru), this setup should really work. All the other vids i've seen have the turbo is blowing into the carb. Blow thru systems on these Cannot work because any boost will blow fuel back into the jet(s). bad

Pick up a turbo with a wastegate and you should be able to limit the boost: usually by turning an adjustment screw.
An intercooler isn't a necessity on a turbo car. The only reason you usually run one is to cool the intake air and maximise efficiency i.e. power.

Although, you'll find that a lot of lawnmower motors run like crap even when they are supposedly "right". The guy probably has a lot of "bugs" to work out with his addition of the turbo anyhow. It's not like Ford ever put turbos on those garden tractors - LOL. I'm curious as to what motor is in that tractor? It appears to be a V-twin Briggs & Stratton, but I really haven't any idea.

bigorangetrucker... I know they have vehicles with turbos. Most of them suck or are no longer in production. The T-bird 4-cylinder turbo coupe has been out of production for a long time now. As for the Taurus SHO, last time I checked, that is a FOREIGN powerplant. I will be the first to admit, I don't know anything about the Lincoln. I also know that Ford doesn't build a turbo diesel either. Their truck engines are Navistars (the truck division of the former International Harvester Company).

Last time you checked Ford didn't have a Taurus SHO powered by it's new Ecoboost line. The orignal SHO 89-95 was powered by either a 3.0 (manual) or 3.2 (automatic) V6 built entirely by Yamaha. From 96-99 the Updated SHO got a 3.4 V8 that was based off of Ford's 2.5 Duratec block and heads cast and assembled by Yamaha. The BRAND NEW Taurus SHO with the 3.5 twin turbo Duratec V6 is ALL Ford.

Ford has many engines under the Duratec name. Same basic design with larger bore or different stroke. the 3.0 Duratec can be found in multiple Ford vehicles, Tauri, Escapes, Freestyle, Five-Hundred etc. The new version of the Duratec engine is the the 3.5 which is found in most new applications and is Twin Turbocharged in some applications known as "EcoBoost"
