@TheChristiankat Of course the mission is important! Of course the main concern is serving God! But is it wrong to be excited about going to a new place?
Woo-hoo!! You are in the for the adventure of a lifetime. This is the best mission in the world. Todd comes home in six weeks and is really sad about leaving the people he has come to know and love so much. Good luck to you. May the Lord bless you on your mission.
Todd has met people who will be friends for life. He cried all day Sunday saying good-bye to his friends in one of the towns he's worked in. Of course there are people who don't like Americans but for the most part, they are friendly and open people. You'll be surprised how close you'll get to them. Todd can't wait to go back and he's not even home yet. I'm sure you're heard about the temple opening. You'll be right in the middle of it. That is so exciting!
My brothers served in Ogden Utah and Santiago Chile. I'm hoping to go to Poland, but have to wait another 2 1/2 years, so college and work in the meantime :)
Thanks for your comment. I hope the next 2 1/2 years goes by quickly for you. When did your brother serve in Ogden? Was the mission president Pres. Joyce? He was a stake president in Washington DC when my son served his mission there and we know him well. Also, Todd's best friend is currently serving in Poland and loves it. Good luck on your plans for the future!!
Oh Stacy, your reaction was exactly like mine, especially since I had a son in Russia! Ryan (Elder Powell) still talks about your son as one of his all-time favorite companions.

Hi Joni, Todd feels the same way about your son - his only complaint is that they didn't spend enough time together. Happy New Year!
