In 1936, Lithuanians were less than 3% of population of Wilno, which was the city's name back then, not the "Vilnius" which the Lithuanian immigrants call it.

The city's population were Poles (50% or a bit above), and Jews (about 40%). Later the Jews got murdered by Germans and Lithuanians. And Poles were forcibly resettled by Soviets.

In their place, came the Lithuanian immigrants, who now discriminate the remnant of the original Polish population.

1. Poland did't have to change anything during 1919-1939, because the city had 50.2% Poles and 2.6% Lithuanians in 1916, before Polish rule.

2. The Wilno/Vilnius is NOT the land of your ancestors. It was founded by Lithuanians, that is true, but these Lithuanians got polonised and their modern descendants are Polish. You modern Lithuanians are mostly descendants of Lithuanians from the Aukstatija and Zemaitija, not from the Wilno/Vilnius region.

1) "All we've got" are people whose ancestors actually lived in Wilno/Vilnius for centuries. You have people whose ancestors lived in Aukstatija and Zemaitija, not in Wilno/Villnius region. Basically, Lithuanians there are IMMIGRANTS, who came there after WWII and after the removal of the previous inhabitants.

As for the shameless lies and propaganda done by Lithuanians, try "1939: The Year that Changed Everything in Lithuania’s History " by Sarunas Liekis - there's a mention of the frustration of brainwashed Lithuanian soldiers who invades Wilno/Vilnius area in 1939. The soldiers were told lies that they are liberating Lithuanians from Polish opression, but they had trouble founding a single Lithuanian village. Funny thing is, the same propagande still operates in modern Lithuania.

What you are saying is simply silly. The percentage of Lithuanians in Wilno/Vilnius was very small, it was 2.6% before Polish rule, and was even smaller in 1939, BUT it was still a few thousands of people, quite enough for showing "enthusiastic crowd".

Really, go read the book "1939(...)" by Sarunas Liekis, who is actually Lithuanian. Go read and learn how Lithuanian propaganda lied to it's own people, and how the people of Wilno/Vilnius treated Lithuanians as foreign invaders.

1) Which Poles are "real" and which are not? Were Pilsudski or Zeligowski real Poles? They were both born in old GDL territory, not the old Kingdom of Poland territory. In reality, the majority of GDL's nobility and many of the peasants became Poles, not only in language, but also in self-determination and culture.

It was not only about language, these people considered Lithuania to be a part, a province of Poland. Good example was Mickiewicz, whose name Lithuanians liars deform as "Mickievicius" or something - he wrote "Lithuania my homeland", but he wrote that in Polish AND he was organizing a Polish army in Italy and wrote a political work "A collection of principles or a Political symbol of Poland".

In case you did't knew, Stalin was a bloody tyrant who COULD do anything he want - including starving millions of Ukrainians to death (Great Famine in the 30's) or taking Konigsberg (today: Kaliningrad) for Russia, though the city had absolutely nothing to do Russia.
