Short memory you have there. Gas prices started dropping well before election day because Congress removed a lot of exploration and drilling bans from the oil companies. The funny thing is that some of them are making noises about bringing back some if not all of the prohibitions, and if they do the prices will climb back up again.

Are you that naive? You think that becase they dropped some drilling bans, immediately gas prices drop? That is some mighty irrational thinking. Do you realize it takes in upwards of 5 years to build the well, drill for the oil, send it to a refinery, and have the gasoline product actually hit the market? Given these facts, how on earth can you logically conclude that that is directly effected the prices? If anything, it would make them go UP, due to new investment requirements, not DOWN.

We are in the middle of a financial crisis. Everyone is scared about their finances. They aren't traveling as much for fear of the high gas prices. Gas prices are extremely fluid on demand.. demand drops even a little, and prices can bottom out.
