hey guess what, if it was legalized they would have a brothel where it is a safe environment to conduct thier business and they wouldnt be murdered without a trace. By making it illegal you push them outside society and leave them to fend for themselves and murders happen. You dont see girls at the Bunny ranch getting murdered. Legalization is a good idea. Prostituion will one day be legal in many more states then just one, as it should be.

i live in Nevada and about 15 mins away from most of all the Brothels here. And I can say It's nice, no real Street Prostitution problem in Carson city and very little in Reno. so i would say it works well here in Nevada.

Street prostitution is deplorable but in a legal setting, a sex worker could seek legal recourse if victimized. To say that prostitution in general harms women is strictly a correlational argument like saying that marriage is the leading cause of domestic abuse. As with domestic abuse, it is most rampant when the victim has fewer legal rights.

@thepeff If you knew anything about my activism then you'd know I only target public, forced and organized prostitution. I also acknowledge that I take no stance against 100% private, unorganized prostitution.

That said, Nevada proves that most women involved in prostitution do not care to follow the law, that is why they choose to work illegally in Vegas as opposed to legally in virtually all of the rest of the state.

@mwmwmwmwmmdw Actually that is not true at all for several reasons. For one, legalization would require regulation. Under a regulated system prostitutes would have to be drug free, disease free and no felony convictions. Those three regulations alone would mean not a single current street prostitute could work legally.

Also, you need look no further than Nevada for more proof. Even though prostitution is legal in all but 2 counties, Nevada still leads most other states in prostitution arrests.

Also, the hookers are targeted for arrest 5x more often than the Johns in Oklahoma.

@43racer43 Back in 1996 I was working for Children's Hospital in downtown OKC. I got sick of seeing all the street prostitution as I came and went from home and work. Picked up my camera one day to capture the activity for police. The rest is history.
