Does anyone remember Plymouth's "Road Runner" car? You could actually get it with the optional Road Runner "Meep Meep" horn. As a kid, one of my neighbors had one. He blew the horn and it sounded exactly like the Road Runner.

This was presented in a CD I believe was titled "the Greatest TV themes" or something to that effect. At least 4/5 of the music on tht CD was an INCREDIBLY cheap re-do of the real music, and this tune was one of the victims, so to speak.

You're right...this is the re-recording made when the separate Bugs Bunny and Road Runner shows were merged into the Bugs Bunny/Road Runner Hour in the Seventies (and got released on the second Television's Geatest Hits album).

Actually, this is two uncredited studio singers who did this - it's from Tee Vee Toons records "Television's Greatest Hits Vol. II" and is definitely not the original recording. To get the original version, you have to plunk down your cash and get the Looney Tunes collections that are out there. It is on YouTube here if you look for it, though.

Yes, when Bugs Bunny Show originally aired on ABC -- the "Overture, Curtain, Lights" open ended with Bugs tossing to the first cartoon or comercial. When they added the Road Runner, they re-did the open so Bugs would toss to the Road Runner theme. (The original opening used to be posted here, but I can't find it now.)
However, I agree -- I never knew RR was a stand-alone show before I saw this.
