Keith was a hard character not to adore. But his plan all along was to turn Natalie's world upside down- and he did. She lost her boyfriend, friends, popularity, scholarship. He wanted to make somebody just as miserable as himself. This story is so complex, and deep. And he falls for Natalie and when they're saying goodbye he tells her she made his life suck, because he was out of time. It's so sad, but one of the best movies I'e ever seen.

He played his character so well. He did an excellent job, and I truly think that the type of guy he plays is the type of guy most girls want. Free-spirited, willing to make life as hilarious as possible even though its sometimes very hard to. Its hard not to fall for a guy like that. <3 this movie

For those who are confused about the ending; he dies of cancer not long before she graduates and they show her emptying his locker. In his memory and to help her grief she continues to finish his work and do up his truck, she then goes to London, Ontario on his behalf because he obviously didn't make it.

Also we know he has cancer because when Natalie follows the counselor to the gas station he tells her that Keith and the little boy had chemotherapy together.
