To do the intro it's easier to slide up the neck in E position without using barre.(the sound gets better too!)

Just pick the strings from the E to the e.

Nice rendition of Prodigal Son! This has always been one of my favorite Maiden songs. I've played bass for quite a few years (Steve Harris was one of my biggest early bass influences). I just played my acoustic bass to your guitar piece...sounded pretty cool together as an unplugged thing. :-)

for the strumming parts I usually use an open E shape with the first 2nd and 6th strings left open...they ring like open chords but have a different magical character
