  • SHOULDA , COULDA , I owned one in 1965 to 71...........

It was the best ride I ever had and I had plenty. Sold it For $150.00 Can. all I have left are 2 photos.

That ranks right up there with the dumdest things I ever did...... Seems I recall someone saying only 9 ever came to Canada, (She was red)

  • This car is definitely from an older era. Gas was 25 cents a gallon, for premium, and this car probobly cost $4000.00, holy cow! An era of power and excess.

  • Like my grandpap says - "get with it. A new car will eat that thing for lunch and still have room for desert"

  • I saw one at Dynomight Hank Donally's garage off route 173 east of Libertyville IL..Yours brought back the memory- Hank was a carismatic daredevil of a guy grounded with a savy for speed wisely achieved. I recall the inpression he gave me that he didn't have a rival machine in the area. I've driven Saratogas, I believe they were the standard 383 cubic inch wedges-miles could be covered with the urge to fly in them. Great dynamic machine very few people have a grasp of. Thanks

  • I got a '62 Newport convertible from my father when I had firt started driving. Those long cross rams run really well on a 440 Magnum. I also milled the heads , so i even had more fun !

  • 300s big n bad

  • A great example of American flamboyance and optimism from the 50's. The font & back bucket seats are waay cool, but my favorite part about this car is the superimposed spare tire on the trunk! Funny how today we hide the spare under the trunk but back in the day..it was part of the styling and this car truly has that 50's style. Great car..great video!

  • just think what would happen if this thing hit your average toyota/chev or whatever you drive

  • Mopar big blocks are the sweetest sounding engines you ever heard.

  • oooh this is heavenly.I`m a big fan of virgil exner`s work. One of the greatest automobile stylists of his time.

  • i had a similar car as my first car when I was about 22 years old. Being 22 I had no fear.....i took it up to 100 miles an hour on a state highway,,,,,,what an idiot I was. my 1962 newport had steel belted radials, dual exhaust and a rear anti-sway bar. It rode quite well

  • My Dad still cries when he see's something like this. He had one exactly, only Red, between 66 to 73. I have many memorable moments, lots my Ma doesn't know about. We would go to the local track and race Mustangs, Chevy 2's.Only problem was it wasn't a quarter mile car. At the finish line it would be close. The Ponies and others would cross at about 80 - 90 mph, the Chrysler would cross at 135 - 145 mph climbing thier ass and always passing but not always winning. One beauty of a car-rocket !!

  • Had a red one in 1970, its everything you said and more, best car I ever drove, production was 975 hardtops plus a few converts, total around 1200, WOW....

  • What a rare survivor! Had a weekend job in the early 70's at a gas station that was a few miles from an auto museum. Many beauties like this car stopped for fuel when the museum had their summer get-togethers! What a treat it was talking to their owners and seeing these classics close up.

  • Arrive in style!

  • beautiful cars, I thought the 60 was nicest looking of the old 300's.

I like the looks of the 59 and 60 DeSoto Adventurer too

  • my favorite part is from 0:51 to 0:58 best car noises ever made....the sounds of a big block Mopar and tires chirpin' between gears

  • I giggle like a little kid every time that thing chirps when changing gears.

  • A friend of mine had an absolutely beautiful convertible one. He bought one of those plastic protective bubbles to store it in when he wasn't driving it. The first time he tried to put the car in, the points on the fins tore holes right through it!

  • Really terrific! Thanks for taking the time to do this!

  • damn she is bad as fk...man chrysler i love em...

  • very very nice car the problem is if a part needed to be replaced it would be expensive. And also I saw one of these cars being aucioned and it sold for $178,000 take care of this american classic beauty

thanks for the video it brings back memories

  • Awesome car!!

  • Great car...power and beauty!

  • Man I love those 300's. The "C"'s were awesome as well. I know the power steering was slick as ice. Thanks for a fine example!

  • Great Car! They tried to bring back the "Big Grill" look with the recent 300. I had a 413 Wedge in my 1964 Imperial Crown Coupe. Great engine, had 245K miles when I sold it.

  • What a beauty. Stunning engine too.

  • That there is one sweet car, never saw one of those babies, very nice P&E brother

    Charlie

  • BTW, the long rams really boosted low end grunt. A 413 made around 480-490 ft lbs of torque at around 2800 rpm. I dont know of any other big American v-8 that ever did that. Sure, a few did make 490-510 ft lbs, but only at the pinnacle years 10 years later and they wer much larger and made the torque higher in the rpm band. Everybody talks hp, but torque moves things. The long ram was mighty!

  • I love the angry look those cars had. As a driver in an inferior car of the day, which was about any other car, how could you not be a little intimidated with your rear view full of that grill. Imagine you are a road hog in some ordinary Chevy or Ford and you see this behind you. You KNOW you better get over cause you cant stop it from passing you if the driver puts his right foot down. The old Chrysler could back up it's intimidating looks if it had to with serious power.

  • awesome!!

  • T Y For the nice words

  • What a dream machine. These own of the most beautiful 300s always loved the taillights. Never was to crazy about the spare tire molding on the trunk but an outrageous car non-the less. This baby has had a restoration thank God. It has to be worth a fortune. Thanks for sharing, a real treat.

  • PAWAAAAAAAAAA!!!!

  • thx very much for your vid, as you said its rare to see video of that chrysler on youtube.. your car is asbolutely amazing, love the sound of the engine, love its look of ''outerspace'' car... congrat !

  • Absolutely beautiful.

  • looks like batmobile.thank the engineers for all this fun america! new cars are trash, all plastic! i hate 'em! thanks for this video! wow!

  • All of Virgil Exners designs Have a somewhat

Fantastic element to them ,and most are a real work of art. I can't Think of a car today that can match the workmanship and pride that went into building these every day American drivers . Bring Back the pride, and Americans will be building cars forever .

  • dual quads

  • Thanks for sharing this great car. I had a 69 Dodge Charger Rt and I like these era cars alot better than late 60s Muscle. They had styling and craftsmanship that was gone by the Mid and late 60s.

  • I love it thanks for showing this video and doing justice to the 61 300. Love her sound and spunk. What a beast! Make some more please!

  • Thanks man, people forget that the technology in these old mopar classics, lead the way for the awesome max wedge engines that dominated the drag strip in the mid 1960s. these are truly underrated cars.

  • These cars beg to be driven, but please take care of them, they are irreplacable. One of Virgil's best efforts.

  • It's AstraDome to be exact,it came on 1960 to 1962 Chrysler cars. We filmed and narrated this video pretty much on the fly so some mistakes are bound to be made with words. I still think this car is somewhat space aged so space dome is really just a play on words Thanks for viewing TP

  • Great video, not for the camera work, but for the engaging commentary. I have a 1958 Chrysler 300D but no video camera ! The instrument cluster on the 1960 and 1961 Chryslers is the Astrodome, not Spacedome.

  • The 1960 Chrysler 300F came stock with 14 inch wheels, note the original hub caps

  • Thats love.

  • THAT is one fine car.

Reminds me of my dad's ol' 58 Dodge Royal Regal Lancer, it was tricked out and

had the two factory 4 barrel carbs too.

    Got'ta love those MoPars

  • Mopar rules! I want a ride!

  • :D i might be getting one of these soon :DDD its for sale down the street XD $3,750 im not shure what model tho ;D all i know is thats its a 1960's chrysler ^^ and im in love with it XD

  • Very cool.

  • This made me cry a little!I owned a 60 Windsor,white with silver/gold interior 383 2 barrell golden lion motor in 1966!

  • Thanks for the nice words. My dad and I made this video because we love this car,but there is so much that i forgot to add about this great American classic maybe in the future

we can take a little more time and post a follow up . TP

  • I like the cars from that era. The 1960 Buick Electra has a similar look somewhat.

  • Thanks! I loved my 2 white 60'Windsors and a '62 300H convertible.

  • Very informative narration, obviously a proffesional actor.

  • A fine example of one of the GREATEST cars produced in USA & by any standard V8 motor /transmission( Torqueflite ) a great power bommer. This example is terrific well done.
