  • i save myself!!

  • I am offending and I find this Italian.

  • The british are just too funny. Great video

  • They are not deez-guhs-steeng eenuff to be eetalianz!

  • we haven't done comparitives yet!

  • @StigJensen123 lol my favorite line too xD

  • Kind of like how English-speaking people still have to take english classes.

  • i get it, its supposed to be a class for learning Italian, instead its a class full of Italians! haha

  • Family Guy is a related video 0_0

  • Mittelschmerz?! Hä?

  • I love how "Family guy - Speaking Italian" is on suggestions , i was ready to link it :)

  • Michael Palin is adorable in this. <3

  • @Eoremar Wow, che gran concentrato di vaccate.

  • "Achso, das deutsche Klassenzimmer!"

  • this video is illegal in italy

i am british btw and no i didnt use google translate xD

  • Haha this sketch is funny! Since I am learning italian and i am british :-)

  • The joke is that in English "Italian class" could mean either a class to learn Italian, or a class full of Italians. There's also the joke that the teacher's Italian isn;t good enough to understand the his Italian students are saying. It's not really making fun of Italians, it's more making fun of education.

  • Sono Dinamarco di Copenhague.

  • LOL.

  • italian guys are learning Italian?! and then how to speak incomprehensible Italian not only Italians(!) but also the teacher!! this logic and accuracy is soooo typical of Brrrits...! as well as parody of the italians that immediately squabble as children ... too typical of the british humor so "elementary"!

but at least the british have fun to see this rough sketch? I guess yes, knowing their humor... compliments an example of typical english humor sketch!!

    1

    aspetto tua CORTESE risposta,

    GRAZIE

  • wololol xD

  • How come all the students sound like experts in Italian when they're in an Italian class? Lol.

  • ...

  • jersey shore beats this

  • Aww, Michael looks so cute when he says [whatever "spoon" is in Italian].

  • troppo forte !!!!!!!!!

  • I think the German guy says: "Bitte weiter (please go on ??), Bitta, bitta (he means "bitte", but pronounces it badly) Was ist das Wort für Mittelschmutz?" (which is an anagram of Schmutzmittel which means detergent)...

  • Comment removed

  • @FlosWeisheiten

At the begenning he says, "Bitte, mein Herr!" which means like, "Please Mr. teacher man, sir." :-P When Graham said, "Was ist das Wort für Mittelschmutz? Oh, danke schoen. Ah, das Deutschen klass Zimmer. Ah!" I thought he said, "Michaelmas," lol.

  • @SgtPlmFry Yeah, you're right. How did you figure out, that he says "Bitte, mein Herr!"? Couldn't understand him properly...

  • Comment removed

  • @FlosWeisheiten

I knew from years of having to say, "Bitte, meine Frau," whenever I had a question in high school. Lol, I don't even know if that's what is said by German speakers today to get attention because my German teacher taught old school German because she was like a hundred years old.

  • @SgtPlmFry I see... That's funny, you CAN say "Bitte, meine Frau" or "Bitte, mein Herr" but nobody does. Here in Austria (I think it's the same in Germany) we normally say "Entschuldigung, Herr/Frau Professor" (in high school as well as at university... Moreover "Bitte, meine Dame" would be more appropiate than "Bitte, meine Frau"...

  • @FlosWeisheiten

I thought he said "Mittelschmerz." That would be funnier, and it would make sense to ask since there is no exact English word for it. Though I don't know why the word would be important to him, lol

  • @afeeder "Mittelschmerz" would be an anagram for "Schmerzmittel" which means painkiller...

  • @FlosWeisheiten

In English medical jargon, Mittlelschmerz means lower abdominal cramping in women during ovulation. The word came to English from American doctors reading German medical texts (by Heinrich Fasbender). However, this was back in the 1800s, and they don't seem to use the word anymore in Germany, but it remains common in the US medical community. This would make sense in the skit, where the German doesn't recognize a seemingly German word.

  • @afeeder Yes, that makes sense! So the NON German speaking (English) people would only hear "Mittelschmerz" and probably find it funny...

  • Ha ha. I'm Italian and this was funny. One thing the Brits and Italians have in common, we take this piss out of ourselves, rare genius. BTW, Italian was the language of the courts, education and politics during the 15th to the 17th century, fact. The German wanting to learn German? Ha ha.

  • i love how the germans are always played by english guys who are not good in german in monty python scetches ^^

  • vas ist das schmurt for mittelsschmurt

  • it sucks!

  • stop that stop that!this is silly!

  • these students are better than the ones that I have to deal with

  • Fortunately my students are better than these here...

  • @ClockworkComputer ahahah it's the same! "vivo a toledo" or "sono di toledo!" well the second one means i come from toledo...oh just a question: if you speak spanish i understeand but if i speak italian do you understeand?

  • @ShakeBusno Sort of! It's very very very similar, but like if it were written down I'd probably get it a bit more than if it were spoken because Italian people speak fast. XD

Well, it seems like it anyway.

  • w la figa

  • Arthur Kirkland teacher Antonio, Romano, Ludwig, and Feliciano Italian.

Unfortunately, they actually already knew Italian. Specially Antonio and Ludwig.

  • bitte mein herr : D Graham only speaks about two sentences in some sketches, but those two sentences are the absolute high points : D

Much love for the Pythons from Italy! <3

  • So Italian guys are learning Italian?

    THAT makes sense. xD

  • :O ... their accents are great!!!

  • @irenakolek no they're not at all those aren't real italians accents actually

  • ahahahah che figata

  • Spoon is not "cuchiilllo"

  • @Jaiv74 spoon is Cucchiaio

  • @bizz0k0 You are absolutely right , It's because in Spanish Spoon it's “cuchara”. Thanks for answering.

  • lol graham RIP

  • 102 people don't have a sense of humor...

  • yes, knowledge is king, so we love scientists even though they're often full of cr@p lolz

  • Forte!!

Grazie - you made my evening!

  • Because I saw The Pink Panther Strikes Again, I know that "zimmer" means "room." So Graham said, "German classroom!" I love it when I know things.

  • @joshaf26 Well, I have wondered for a long time, what is Mittleschmertz?

  • @joshaf26 "Deutschenklassenzimmer" literally would mean 'classroom for Germans' German classroom would be 'Deutsches Klassenzimmer'

Mittelschmerz has something to do with pain during a woman's period...

  • @joshaf26 The german said "Bitte, mein Herr, was ist das Wort für Mittelschmerz? Oh, Danke Schön! Aha! Das Deutsche Klassenzimmer!" (Excuse me, sir. What is the word for abdominal/middle pain? Oh, thanks! Aha! The German Classroom!) ;)

  • @joshaf26

The Force is strong with you.

  • THATS the ITALIAN way of school ;D

    bella italia

    ti amo sicilia <3

  • fucking bastards.... :D

  • Well it's pretty common for the teacher to be a non-native speaker. We had a German person as a student in German class. She was thinking she'd get an easy credit in her own language, so she took it for her language requirement. She had a miserable time in class, though. Because the American teacher's accent was so bad she couldn't answer any of the questions.

  • If I wasn't Italian, I'd want to be German. But I am Italian and I would never give that up. Not that I could, but still I would not do so. haha

  • @Hairmetaller86 I'd want to be Italian if I wasn't Rican and Irish, but I am. But if I wasn't, and I couldn't be Italian either, I'd rather be Austrian than German.

  • @Spiko747 Why do you pick Austrian before German?

  • @Hairmetaller86 german?`? o_O take austrian.. its better :>

  • @crackz123 lol. Why!?

  • Was ist das deutsche Word for Mittelsmaß?

  • coo-chee-ay-oh?

    more like

    coo-kee-I-oh

Is that how one speaks Italian with a British accent? Sound identical to an American Accent

  • good stuff...

  • Oh yes, the Italian class sketch...

It's in the very first episode and the Python don't waste any time being awesome :D

Thanks to my dad who's also a fan I started watching Monty Python very early, in Kindergarten age. And I remember being very confused about the German guy in the classroom (I'm German myself) *grin*.

Hell, I love the show and that's not about to change.

  • The comments are always entertaining on Monty Python videos.

  • this is so funny :D

  • the teacher's Italian is so horrible, he could be mistaken for a US-American.

  • @zensorship I *think* it is intended :P

  • @Phr0zenFire

    I guess you're right.

  • they had no idea what they where saying XD

  • The German guy says "Bitte Mein Herr. Was ist das Wurt (should be Wort) für Mittelschmerz?" (Excuse me, Sir. What is the word for midcycle pain?)

"Ah, das Deutschen Klassenzimmer (should be Die Deutsche Klassenzimmer)" (Ah, the German Classroom)

  • @rjhglover

DAS deutsche Klassenzimmer is right (i'm german)

  • Too bad he died. :( The rest of the thon group are still around but Graham.

  • @iCandyTechnodog Is he the main one from Holy Grail?

  • @dowling1981 Yes. It is sad.... He wasn't my favorite, BUT he was a python.

  • @iCandyTechnodog What happened to him?

  • I'm italian and I couldn't quite understand it, how sad is that?

  • @beban1991 lol, you should go to the italian language classes

  • For a German like me the "dankeschön!" @ 1:38 sounds kinda cute. And no I am not gay. He has just a funny way to pronounce the words. xD

  • hahha he's from Milan but with southern accent! ...and look at he moustaches!

  • "He say Milan is better then Napoli"

"Well he shouldn't be saying that, we haven't done comparatives yet"

    rofl!!

  • Comment removed

  • @marvinrave ehhhhmmm...no.

  • looooooool

  • 'we haven't done comparatives yet' rofl, lol, lol! :D

  • ahah

  • Milan IS NOT better than Napoli... WORD!

    it's a different feeling...

    WOOORD!

  • GENI ASSOLUTI!

    SPETTACOLARE!

  • You want the german class hilarious big fan of monty python

  • wow, you´ve decided - try to bann me. good luck.

  • He said kassenzimmer not klassenzimmer, but i think you understood that joke. genius

  • he said "Klassenzimmer" -Classroom 100%

  • @rambo2012 you're right

  • @Gruntol5 I'm Italian and I agree with you about Italians criticising their accents. But I also think that comedy is NECESSARY to learn a culture. Monty Phyton made me learn A LOT about britons.

  • @LoreSka : My remarks are intended to be "tongue in cheek." I'm glad you enjoy Monty Python. I often wonder whether other nationalities have anything like the Pythons in their countries or were they something unique to Britain.

  • we got much better lol

  • I love this skit!! xD

  • they always annoy to a german xD

  • The nonsense is upped: If he is German, he should be in the German class.

The third twist is when the class breaks off in pure Italian noise, and the fun finally is on them, and not in the teacher & system.

I see many Italians got it. For those who didn't and took exception with the imperfect accents, one hint: For non Italian speakers (I'm Brazilian), ALL Italian sounds the same and noisy. Just like British and Australian English sound the sam

  • For those trying to analyze the joke... I'll try my 50 cents.

It's a class of Italian in England. The first twist is when the camera finally show the students, and they are actually Italian. That doesn't seem to bother the teacher though, who absurdly insists in correcting the native Italians with his broken British Italian.

The second twist is when the German guy speaks. At this point, he is directed to the German class. (cont)

  • Napoli senore.

  • i'am-e italiann-o and-e i think-e monty python-ne arre verry funny!
