  • Nu Hidden Palace Zone :<

  • You forgot Death Egg.

  • Mystic Cave Zone sounds a lot like something from Castlevania. Something involving evil zombie clowns..

  • @pokeplayer935 You should check out my Castlevania covers ;)

  • @VernianProcess ^^ I think I shall.

  • Emerald Hill needs to be longer than 45 seconds. -(^.^)-.

  • Emerald Hill = awesomeness.

  • When I hear this Hill Top Zone, I see some famous guy saying "G'night, everybody!" With some audience standing up, clapping and some credits coming into my head XD

  • @9joao6

Haha. Me too. It has a Grammy sort of feeling too it. Or like you're at some kind of fancy show.

  • @micmamane IKR? And Chemical Plant Zone's violins made it epic!

  • So name one bad song in this game wait for it wait for it wait for it NOPE its impossible so just enjoy the great music relax.

  • Sonic 4 episode 2 MUST have this soundtrack.

  • @tek32272 Yeah that was kind of the idea lol.

  • @VernianProcess I Like It! (And Every Other Theme)

  • Wing Fortress Was Epic!

  • awesome work dude

  • If Sonic 2 had actually been released in the era of Sonic Colours, it would've sounded just like this! Magnificent work. :D

  • This is what just happened: Start the video, 3 seconds later added to favorites XD

  • @XxCleric97xX: Awesome! Thanks very much =D

  • @VernianProcess I love the music from the old games, and these are put together so very well and sound excellent that not liking/favoriting them would be an insult to the series. Well done!

  • @XxCleric97xX As you can probably tell, I too am a huge fan of the original Sonic soundtracks ;) I really do appreciate your honest feedback. Have you heard any of my other orchestral game covers? I've done collections for Cave Story, Final fantasy 7/6, and Castlevania. I also just u-loaded a Capcom tribute the other day too. =)

  • @VernianProcess I haven't yet but will definitely look them up n_n

  • My Auntie Ronica and I used to play this all the time, I was always Tails, and we would always laugh at how many times I'd have to sacrifice myself to save her ass from dying. xD I miss those days.

  • @TheaterODaRediculous Word, I used to play Sonic 2 everyday after school when it came out, sometimes with my Sister, but she was never very good at it ;)

  • @VernianProcess Hahahaha, I wish I could'a been there to see when it was FIRST released, those days sounded GREAT from what my father tells me. xD Sucks I'm only 14.

  • @TheaterODaRediculous But in a way your lucky enough to have the history of video games at your fingertips. When I was 14, you either had to buy games, rent them, or play with your friends copies. Now you can emulate just about all of the back catalog of the older consoles. Including every Sonic game.

  • Thumbs up if your girlfriend plays this game with you. ;)

  • All of them were awesome! The Wing Fortress one was definitely the best!

  • @bassethoundguru13 Thanks! That's one of my faves on the album as well.

  • Great!

  • SO GOOD!

  • That's amazing! You really should work for Sega!!

  • @colluco1986: I did work for SEGA in 2001, 2004, and 2006. =D

  • @VernianProcess Really!? What Did You Do?!

  • @Theycallmetoastdude I was a QA Tester, and later a QA Assistant lead. =)

  • @VernianProcess Dude! Couldn't you peruade Sega to have let you in on the sound team instead? Sonic 4 would have been forgiven of everything if it had this soundtrack!

  • 4's soundtrack rocks

  • @edward18517 ...I didn't like it.

  • how can't you like Mad Gear and Lost Labyrnth's soundtracks? And Casino Street was pretty nice and jazzyish.

  • @VernianProcess Hey, I heard that for Sonic 06 the testers who said the game was glitchy were fired. Do you know if this is true?

  • the chemical plant zone is soooo epic. that was a fantastic piece of music. worth all 10 minutes!

  • @Rauxification Thanks a lot! Glad you enjoyed it! The full album is available in the info section.

  • wing fortress zone never sounded so rad

  • This is soooo epic!!!!! I grew up with this music....and you enhanced it......like the music is 3D.......O.O

    Really. Good job!!!!

  • the hilltop zone was very jazzy like it

  • wow, this is amazing.

Chemical plant zome has never sounded better, and mystic cave was amazing

  • @humortumor Thanks those were two of my faves!

  • Nice work. You captured the essence of some of the best Sonic music ever. If anyone's interested I made a medley of Sonic 2 tracks with screens a while back. Have a looksee youtube.com/watch?v=_d1m9AyYtCA

  • good times.....good times.

  • A very fine orchestrated medley song from music in Sonic the Hedgehog 2.

  • @BluesifulWave Thanks!

  • I really like these do you do them on there own or always together?

  • Absolutely fantastic work!

  • LOL at 3:05

  • Epic.

  • aww, the link is broken for me :( could somebody put it on mediafire or something similar?

  • @SSJKuhan It should work now!

  • 5:26 METROPOLIS ZONE ROCKS very industrious

  • @superlurf Thank you!

  • Hey, I just listened to your album, it's great! wonderful job!

  • Amazing! thank you for this :) Makes me miss being a kid tho lol

  • @DaN0T0RI0US1 That was exactly why I had to make these. I love dthis music as a kid, but the quality of the Genesis sound card make these practically unlistenable to my old jaded ears. =)

  • @VernianProcess I understand lol man, Sky Chase Zone = one of the best songs in video game history. (to me anyway) XD it brings back feelings of playing the game :P

  • could you compose chemical plant seperately? because it sounds so good!

  • @figaro589 if you d-load the comp, every song is recorded individually.

  • dude thats awesome! :D

  • First 10 seconds saves to favorites

  • @vernianprocess I mean the Sonic 2 versions of the songs (Track 10 in Sonic 2 for Hidden Palace) and the Death Egg (final zone)

  • Beautiful, but where's the Hidden Palace and Death Egg?

  • @d3structi In the Sonic and Knuckles video.

  • This is cool.

To bad you dont have the Hidden Palace music on there, but it is understandable.

  • it'd be nicer if the tracks blended into each other

  • absolutely beautiful, may sound crazy, but this seriously almost brought a tear to my eye, not hearing something for 17 years can give you a mega-jolt of memories.

  • 2:12 reminds me of EddsWorld!

  • These are wondeful! I've looked for something as good a quality as this, rather than some horrendous remix that sounds comepletely different. thank you! =)

PS: I'm not criticizing anyone esle's remix of the tunes, I'm just saying I prefer them when they're unsytled (i.e. techno, rock, etc...).

  • @meisterification Thanks that was the idea with all of my game covers. To do them faithfully, but with a higher quality sound, and I happen to love neo-classical music, so I incorporated a lot of that influence into the overall project.

  • this has inspired me to go play sonic 2. it hit me like a train starting at sky chase zone...

  • @sonic7122 Awesome! It's a wonderful game. I'm glad that my covers inspired you to play it. =)

  • congratulations !!! favorited !

  • What program did you use?

  • After that I feel I must point out - Emerald Hill, Mystic Cave and - especially - Casino Night are all excellently done.

  • Chemical plant zone - 1:02 - missing a little bit that was in the original. just a stacatto reptition of one note six times, but it's a bit I really noticed. It's at the 0:30 mark on SonicKAI's Chemical Plant upload, for comparison. Also, at 1:28, you just hold a note...in the original, the note...er...I'm not musical, but it basically goes up and down.

Most of the rest is, as you say, difficult to place. Although Metropolis is noticeably lacking the record-scratching sound...

  • Mmm...Lovely. But as many others do, you miss the key bits that my mind desperately tries to fill in. Just tiny little bits of the tune which, to me, make it complete. Bah, I'm probably the only one that cares about these little bits...

  • @VimeC I know what you mean, there is something missing, but I can't place it either. It's something about the tone of the old genesis soundcard.

  • @VernianProcess I could place a few of the bits I'm talking about, if you're interested.

  • @VimeC Yeah, please do.

  • ...Dude...

Seriously, you should go to SonicRetro and help make the music for there Sonic 2 HD game!

  • @ItsTheNewGeneration well he did work on the music for sonic 2.

  • @The13thRobo

    ...Oh...

    (Facepalm)

  • Death Egg was my favorite level and you cut it out. :(

  • @315Cyndaquil Yet another theme that loops about every 30 seconds. Not enough to work with, so i chose to focus on the other more interesting themes. Again, just make your own covers if these aren't to your high standards.

  • OIL OCEAN FOR THE WIN!!!

  • Ok, so you did this with only MIDI, so I was wondering, did you use a program for the orchestra, or did an actual orchestra make it. If you used a program, I'd love to know what VSTs and what program you used.

If it's a real orchestra, then kudos to them, too! :D

  • Ahhh yes I used Edirol Orchestra for all of the strings, brass, woodwinds, and orchestral percussion. I used Addictive Drums for all of the regular "rock" percussion elements. I sequenced it all using Acid 4.0.

  • Hmm.... I use Edirol, and I never seem to get the same results you do... I wonder what I'm doing wrong, considering your using MIDIs. XD

  • Well I hardly use the default settings. You want to tweak the EQ, and Release/Decay/etc for each individual instrument. You also want to make sure you use the right amount of reverb/chorus, and velocity plays a huge part in the way Edirol triggers samples.

  • Do you have to do this all VIA the Edirol database, or do some using Acid? Because I use FL Studio 9.

  • It shouldn't matter since the VSTs are creating the sounds, not the sequencer.

  • sky chase was awesome, it gave me goosebumps, and winged fortress was epic-sounding, those were my two favorites, ironically, they are my least favorite from the actual game, not to say that i hate them

  • @ShmadamMasterMan77 Thanks alot, those two are a couple of the mixes I was the happiest with too =)

  • sounding good, love all this music

  • This is ubelievable! Firs of all the music is great, and second I am an aspiring arranger, i think is what you would call it. I'm starting a project just like this one. I'm arranging the sonic 2 boss theme for a symphonic orchestra at my school. I'm also doing for the rest of the sonic boss themes up to Sonic and knuckels. My second project was going to be exactly like this. I am really surprised that someone has already done it. Great job man!

  • Oh My Fukin God!

    Man, these is So good!

Did you really worked on these sonic tracks? for real?

    I´m a huge fan :D!

also... do u do any other music styles?

Because I would LOVE to hear a bad ass Chemical plant Metal cover! :D

  • oh shit, epic.

I love your stuff. It's crazy that I found you through your kickass steampunk stuff and you just happened to branch out one day and cover some of my favorite classic video game music.

  • hehehe, well I do work in the games industry and Sonic was one of the first games I worked on. Not to mention one of the first series I became obsessed with as a kid back in the early 90's.

  • Just so you know, I've had Sonic Symphony on repeat on my mp3 player almost constantly since I downloaded it, and I can't say I've ever been as impressed with a video game soundtrack rendition as I am with this one. It's a keeper.

  • Nice! Thanks very much =)

  • Good. Really like the choice of synth in Emerald Hill zone

  • Thank you, I think it was like a combination of vibraphone, bells, and that twinkly synth. The comp these all came from has full length versions btw.
