  • This is terrific! What a horse! I love YouTube and all of the videos you can watch. I don't know why the heck I didn't think of coming here sooner! Now, if I can just keep my computer functioning!

    Thanks!

  • So when will win 19 be posted!!!!!WOOOOHOOOO Pepper! You go girl!!!!

  • Usually thoroughbreds, if they don't make good racers become good jumpers or Dressage horses. If not, then they can always breed and be ridden for pleasure. Racing isn't the only thing a thoroughbred can do, though I do believe they have a God gifted talent to do it, but there are some who love to jump, or event too. or just enjoy a lope on the trail.

  • You are also right on the mark Curlinroxs! Every horse is good for something, some have the impression that ALL TB's are hot, crazy psychos who only know one thing. Well there are some like that sure, but I've been around many who were as calm and nice as a big old dog. Thank god there are only a few idiots in the world, otherwise life would be unbearable to say the least.

  • haha!

  • It's kind of funny, that when she was young, from sources I've talked to she was for sale many times, and no one wanted to buy her. I bet everyone who looked at her then, and then turned down the chance to buy her are kicking themselves,I know I would, but in this game you just never know, heck I've seen very well bred ones who either wouldn't or couldn't run a lick! It's a spin of the genetic roulette wheel. Without that, only the extremely rich would have a chance a good one.

  • And what about that legendary horse that was for sale many times when he was young,

and no one wanted him because he had a bad disposition and was back at the knee.

Hint: Turf specialist with initials JH.

  • You jhhorse understand what it is all about,I couldn't agree with more! One thing though John Henry was one of those rare horses who was just as good on dirt as he was on turf. The old man was one best there ever was.

  • Her achievement is very special for me,given the fact that I'm a native of NM. I breed, raise, and race horses. It is nice to know the NM TB breeding program is improving at a nice rate. 15 years ago it wasn't very good, our QH breeding has always been very good. There has been some who want to call us 4th-5th class racing, and you know what, go ahead, but we truly love what we are doing. I for one am very proud of the fact that Pepper is a New Mexico bred racehorse.

  • Peppers Pride is on the cover of this week's Blood-Horse!

  • Who in their right mind can sit there with a straight face and say 18 straight wins do not mean nothing. Well its not about where she runs,or whom she runs against,it is the deed itself that deserves credit. Can you name another north american horse who has won 18 straight? No you can't because no one before could do it. That in itself is a dramatic achievement, worthy of praise.

  • I agree. The great thing about Peppers Pride is the horsemanship that enabled a kind of "ordinary", modest-but-gutsy Thoroughbred to win her way into the record books. Finding the right spots for a horse like Peppers Pride, keeping her conditioned and sound, and campaigning her successfully to end up winning 18 times straight is an achievement no other horseman can claim. I'm sure they never thought they would go on a winning streak like this, but Peppers Pride proved to be extraordinary.

  • Problem with this is: She beats allowance, claimers, and maidens. 18 wins doesn't mean shinola when you really didn't do anything...

Now, bring her to NY or CA and we'll see what we've really got here.

  • Any horse no matter where they run and whom they run against, for her to win 18 straight is the epitome of unreal consistancy. She is what horseman work for everyday.

  • wow, she has a tremendous amount of heart. she may not win at a major track, but her heart is huge. its great for racing!!

  • get peepers to a nyra track... asap
