I am so glad i was a kid in the 80's! I really think we were the coolest ever! We still played with toys, still knew out to play outside. & knew how to play a game with out a controler!
da fuh?? I thought you weren't allowed to use real cartoon characters to sponsor your product? " Advertisers may not use well-known kids' entertainers (including cartoon characters) to promote or endorse a product." What's Pop-eye sponsoring quaker's oatmeal for?
Its like they dont even try nowadays! Each commercial had its own jingle or somethan cool about it while now just has graphics and POP music! Thank God i was born in 1985... and my parents for making me in the 80s haha
I wonder how many Silly Dilly deaths there were before it was taken off the market. That just seems like a bad idea to be flinging something around like that....
And your point is? Why waste money on dumb toys that gather dust when you can get something that you'll use a lot and entertain you like a cell phone or iPod?
Maybe not a cellphone, but why not an iPod? It plays fucking music, for god's sake. Just because it's a little pricey? Either way, you never specified "6 year olds".
@3rkid2 I have my thoughts and opinions. If you have money do so. I think kids should have these things until age 8 .. they just need to learn how to have nice things. I still think everyone should appreciate what they have. Have a good new year.
that lost and found ad may be depressing but it's a great ad campaign to make kids scream and shout to their parents for it because those pets are gonna die.

@HECTROLOSIS I know, like there wasn't enough misery in the real world. Some toy company marketing exec decided it was a great selling point for their stuffed toys.
@HECTROLOSIS I thought the bouncing Kids were quite depressing too.. like the more you have of a set, it's supposed to look cool, but they just looked lamer together..
Oh I just watched the Little Lost and Founds. agreed..
its so funny u dont see commericals on tv nowadays for board games made by the parker brothers, all u see is ps3, xbox, wii, psp, shows how lazy ppl are
how did we talk like that and understand every 1 sevral comericals are talkin a mile a mintue, and comericals with popye so halirous and i had the boucin kids, light bright nd early bird catches worm at about 3yrs old
I think that meant that if kids come across any miniature car toys that don't have the MicroMachines label, they're "not the real thing"-----in other words, don't bother buying those cheap knockoffs, kids, we're the real thing!
Yeah, jingles definitely have gone out of style. I think overall the perception is that kids are much more savvy and sophisticated than they were twenty years ago, and so commericals are less naive and childish now. There's some truth in that perception of kids, but I would argue that a big part of it is the the culture and the advertisers TRYING to make the kids grow up faster.
i always wanted to eat cocoa puffs because they showed the puffs coming out of a ladle full of chocolate syrup... when i got older and ate them, lets say, i was depressed. Also, those little lost and found dolls are so cute!
Hey, I've been looking for that Little Lost and Found commercial for ages on here. And today I just stumble on it by accident. Go figure.
I never wanted one of the dolls, but the commercial made such an impression on me as a little kid that I actually intend to write and illustrate a book inspired by the mood and the basic idea. However, the story would take a much darker turn than anything in the commercial would suggest....
The other version of the Lost & Founds commercial is in Related Videos section on "Late 80s commercials 1987-1988". That's hilarious on 8:03 when the red chip falls in the popcorn and the player freaks out from that. XD
love how they made commercials that told kids that any non-living object can do just about anything...i had to laugh when the ppl said "sure, rice krispies can talk" and they had a voice saying "snap crackle pop" akya so thats what sound they make but another one is the gushers commercials... i always wanted my hoped my head would turn into a fruit! XD
Haha.. lightbrite, those kids couldn't make those designs on their own, all these commercials were weird, it's like this, this & this sold seperately, adult assembly required
I had the Barbie Sweet Roses furniture and totally forgot. Seeing them brought it all back. Beautiful. I had a Bouncing Baby, not kid. The kids always scared me [esp the one on the bike. *shudders*]

All the crappy toys now are built in China. They were so much better in the 80's when they were built in Taiwan.

Today (altho im not sure if its healthy), they make money on kids playing online video games.
