I first did not like the smiling front and Nagare, but now I love that design, it grew on me in about a week. It's just one of the nicest vehicle I've purchased in a long long time. I am always looking forward to driving it the next day, that's when you know that you've bought the right vehicle.
@bigvirgotube I now have to eat my own words. I'd like to have had electric sliding doors on the Touring/Grand Touring models. Otherwise, I love my 5(but I'm pretty through with the Kia Rondo).
@iswedishfishs Cause God forbid, you actually use your own two hands to shut a door! Seriously, it really isn't that bad not having that feature. And the back seats are plenty big enough....they just aren't made for HUGE people. I think this van is great for how low priced it is.
@nayisradx7 i know, but that is kinda what you get for 20k but 3rd row seats are best for seating extra people with LEG ROOM a lot smaller, more expensive cars and minivans have more room.
@iswedishfishs It's perfect for me because we have young children which was main reason to get this minivan; we do have the Odyssey which we use for the long distance trips. For short errands, can't beat the Mazda 5's versatility... period.
@bigvirgotube xD yeah that is a bad comparison but i guess for a midsize minivan it is ok? and we got rid of the gl is was a 08 and now our car has no third row:(
@iswedishfishs Hmmm...yeah, and you probably need a good third row, from what you're saying. Didn't mean to sound too harsh about the car comparo, btw. If you're 'more than four' in the family, the 5 isn't for you--the MPV/Mazda 8--if they sold it here--would've probably been PERFECT for your needs. It's a true mid-size minivan, slotting between a 5 and, say, a Sienna. And it looks good too! HEY, MAZDA! Take the CX7 back, give us the Mazda MPV/8 again!
@bigvirgotube ik and i think when we will get a new car it will be another gl or a navigator l or a lexus lx but not now cuz the car is fine and it is still decent size
@iswedishfishs In my view a "MiniVan" is a miniature van. If you want extra seats and extra crap get a BIG van. Some of you people want Bloomingdales with a Wal-Mart budget! The Mazda5 is the perfect size for single people who ferry the occasional niece nephew & dog, as well as for people in general who don't want something huge! Therefore, YOU may not be the target market for this vehicle.

@kc2zxl Mazda 5 is made in Japan I believe.

@samas49 It is, it saids it on the door sill. Also, on the sticker, it says Made in Japan, and 95% parts are from Japan.

@samas49 Yes, I bought the Nissan version here in Japan called Lafesta Highway Star which it has a much better look than the Mazda 5/Premacy.

Mazda seems to try to do everything but rarely gets anything right..

I have the following things I'd change on my 2012 5:
1. Rear power outlet continuously on like in our Rondo
2. Bump up the power to equivalent 2.5 in the Ford Escape
3. Give me about 1/2 foot more rear room with third row up
Otherwise, like it veddy much. And nayisradx is right! You people have become little prissies with power door this and that. Puleeze!

this is NOT a minivan the 3rd row is way to small our old gl550 had a bigger seat in the back and no power doors or liftgate?

@nayisradx7 German version has powered sliding doors, plus hatch I believe. It also has headlamp washers and fender mounted side markers.

@iswedishfishs comparing your GL550 to this is like comparing a Honda Civic to a Ferrari F340. Two different cars altogether.
