@ausguitarist No? What the fuck? Where did you even get that idea from? If even one chicken is infected with bacteria among the rest everyone gets to be incinerated in the... incinerator, I guess.
For anyone who doesnt know, this is the same exact way that the turkey you bought last thanksgiving, or that chicken from KFC was plucked. maybe people just dont like to see where their food actually comes from.
the motor runs at 1725 rpm, but with a 2" pulley on the motor shaft and a 15"pulley on the shaft of the spinning plate in the plucker, the plucker turns at 230 rpm
cornish cross chickens are bred o have fewer feathers to make them easier to pluck, and it is wet from being scalded. But even full-feathered standard chickens pluck just as easily
right sorry about that mate, can u tell me if u have ever used these on duck as i do alot of wildfowling i have seen a few of these machines on utube but none plucking duck! is it because they are hard to scald with the downy feathers or what? thanks for any info u might have regarding this!
The problem is that you hear a chicken balk at the beginning and it seems at first as if the chicken is still alive. We watched it a few times and realized it must already have been dead and maybe the sound is just the other chickens in the cage behind.
Wow, that beats the old hot water trick or skinning by hand. When we are all reduced to raising our own food, with the coming depression, it would be handy to have one of these for sure!!
did chicken died?

No, this shot was just a victim of bad timing, it was an off-camera chicken squacking at just the right time.

Where did you get the machine?
sjfperformance 3 years ago
We built it ourselves. Search for "whizbang chicken plucker" and you can find a source for the plans

How many RPM's is your machine turning?

You are correct, it is another chicken in the background. Maybe someday I'll make a new video to clear up any confusion.
guebertm 3 years ago
Even when a chicken is very dead if its lungs are compressed through pressure it will force air though the voice box producing a sound.

It doesn't feel any pain. It's a chicken carcass. It's dead, Jim.
Sheesh.
