She felt like she knew him, and she is a young teenage girl; young teenage girls tend to still be insecure and tend to respond well to someone telling them that they are beautiful etc... she trusted him, hence the title of the film.

I don't get why people are judging Annie's character. She was only 14 and thought she was in love. She didn't understand the reality of the situation. Though she knew she was lied to, and raped, she convinced herself that she and the "Charlie" she knew from the texts and phone calls were in love.
