I agree with what you said about Whitney, she should have just promoted the new cd only did a few live performances like on Oprah, American Music Awards and GMA. Her voice and health aren't well enough to have done a big tour, the damage to vocal chords is just too extensive for her to think she could tour like she did.
I saw Whitney in 86 & 87, when she was at her very best... I saw in again in the mid 90's and she didn't sing the same... she was never a great entertainer, but she talked a little more and dragged out the songs, really not singing the songs as she did when she was younger. I feel that the media and people acted like she was the best voice ever, which just was never the truth ... and now she hasn't taken care of herself and it is gone, get real people and she'll have a easier time.
@yescanto She should do just do commercial acts. Her body looked good with the first alfit in gold. She could model and do songs that are not as straining on the vocal chords. For her to completey sing as she did maybe impossible due to her activities, not 'cause of age.

But Whitney today really makes you long for the '80s/'90s when she had it. I'm afraid she'll forever live in the shadow of her past glory. But Whitney's all about the high notes. When you're a powerhouse soprano...people want to hear your high notes. Someone like Rihanna or Britney Spears...the high notes aren't a big deal, because they're not that type of singers. Hell...Britney's not even a singer at all :P
I saw her the other night in Manchester (16/06/2010) and she was abslutely fantastic! when she reached the peek of i will always love U it was just magical! and u just felt the power in ur whole body !!! i was there and i know that she is still better then the rest! especially freeks like lady gaga who cant sing and has no real talent. she is stil better then beyonce, and dare i say it our very own (british) leona.

If you want to hear young Whitneys voice you should try Charices version. She is one of the closest to Whitneys voice and she can hit those high notes in live too. She can even sing original songs in love.

Gotta say, I wouldn't go see Whitney in concert. I've always been a fan, but she's completely and utterly lost her voice. She can't sing anymore! I agree she's jumped on this tour way too soon, and is pissing off millions of people. She needs to just rest that voice more, and get vocal surgery, which would mean A LOT more resting, and then vocal training, etc. Unfortunately for the fans and the rec company, if she ever gets back any semblance of a voice, it'll be many years from now.

I know Whitney is older and her voice has changed. It just angers me that she's a well paid professional. She knows her limitations so why not work within them. Don't do so many dates. No one is forcing her to do it. It's like if a company knowingly made defective products and continued to sell them to the public. It feels like she's taking advantage of our love for her. Just cut back some dates, work with a vocal coach, get some rest, lay off the cigarettes, do some cardio. Geez!

@Branigan4ever I wouldn't doubt there is some kind of vocal treatments she could go through for help, but she's still smoking so it's not going to do her any good. She herself needs to decide that her voice is important enough to her to take care of it before she goes through expensive treatments.
She did have surgery to remove her nodules in 2007. That might be the problem with her voice? I don't know why the hell they have her doing a world wide tour? Her cords still haven't recovered. Julie Andrews had hers removed and it ruined her voice forever. Whitney never should have had them removed. She also needs to get in shape at 46. She really needs to rest her voice and do periodic concerts as opposed to world tours now. She can still sing when rested but should stay away from earlier hits

Some people's voices hold up and some don't. Some of it is luck, some of it is abuse to the voice and some of it can be from illness or exhaustion. Sure Barbra Streisand still has about 80% of her voice (too bad her material sucks) which is incredible for her age, but Julie Andrews not a drug addict lost her voice years ago so you never know. Now Whitney accepting this is another story, I'm sure it must be difficult.

Barbra Streisand was born in 1942, and when she was 47 in 1989 (same as Whitneys current age), Barbras vocalabilty was still tremendous!! Listening to Were Not Making Love Anymore released in that year, her vocal range, timbre and singing techniques were fully intact, pretty much identical to the way she sounded in her teens, 20s and 30s.

Todays Whitney, well, theres really not much to say, youll be lucky if she can sing above C5 in chest voice or head voice competently, let alone trying to sing songs like You Give Good Love or Run To You. Gotta say, I wouldn't go see Whitney in concert. I've always been a fan, but she's completely and utterly lost her voice. She can't sing anymore! I agree she's jumped on this tour way too soon, and is pissing off millions of people. She needs to just rest that voice more, and get vocal surgery, which would mean A LOT more resting, and then vocal training, etc. Unfortunately for the fans and the rec company, if she ever gets back any semblance of a voice, it'll be many years from now.

um, that part they listened to on the play back..where they said she sounded pretty good...that was lip synch. Sigh we miss her. Losing a voice is natural even tho she lost it quicker than most. But people like streisand, shirley bassey are in their 60s and were able to still sound like they can sing. WH just cant. I am sad for her because she was a great voice

I know Whitney is older and her voice has changed. It just angers me that she's a well paid professional. She knows her limitations so why not work within them. Don't do so many dates. No one is forcing her to do it. It's like if a company knowingly made defective products and continued to sell them to the public. It feels like she's taking advantage of our love for her. Just cut back some dates, work with a vocal coach, get some rest, lay off the cigarettes, do some cardio. Geez!

c'mon now. I did drugs LAST night. I've got nothing against it as long nobody gets hurt. She knowingly gives us performances that are sub par. A true artist would hear her own voice and say "no I won't sing right now" I don't know what her motivation is, but it's not pleasing the fans. Don't get me wrong I LOVE her! I'm just dissappointed.

She did have surgery to remove her nodules in 2007. That might be the problem with her voice? I don't know why the hell they have her doing a world wide tour? Her cords still haven't recovered. Julie Andrews had hers removed and it ruined her voice forever. Whitney never should have had them removed. She also needs to get in shape at 46. She really needs to rest her voice and do periodic concerts as opposed to world tours now. She can still sing when rested but should stay away from earlier hits

She is getting better. Look at her singing "i will always love you" in january = SH*T! then it started to get a lil better.
Then watch "i will always love you rome 2010" and her in germany too.

Some people's voices hold up and some don't. Some of it is luck, some of it is abuse to the voice and some of it can be from illness or exhaustion. Sure Barbra Streisand still has about 80% of her voice (too bad her material sucks) which is incredible for her age, but Julie Andrews not a drug addict lost her voice years ago so you never know. Now Whitney accepting this is another story, I'm sure it must be difficult.

Barbra Streisand was born in 1942, and when she was 47 in 1989 (same as Whitneys current age), Barbras vocalabilty was still tremendous!! Listening to Were Not Making Love Anymore released in that year, her vocal range, timbre and singing techniques were fully intact, pretty much identical to the way she sounded in her teens, 20s and 30s.

Todays Whitney, well, theres really not much to say, youll be lucky if she can sing above C5 in chest voice or head voice competently, let alone trying to sing songs like You Give Good Love or Run To You.
