@Ultranationalist941 The point of using a different OS is for what you want to do if you just genuinely just use a computer and play games listen to music and play videos then you have a Windows PC if you do alot of graphics you may use a Mac computer me I'm a programmer and run webservers so i use Unix or Linux based OS's hope this helps.
@Ultranationalist941 unix didnt accept errors and thus didnt bother with error handling because they didnt happen... now days when we so no error handling we think someone is crazy... thats because of windows being riddled with so many errors that the error handling has become half the program.
Thats not really true. Solaris 11 express is compatible with Opensolaris. Solaris is still free and all the opensource things about solaris are still opensource, so where is the problem?
This is not an imitation of Ubuntu. It is using the GNome interface, that Ubuntu loads by default. GNome was not created or invented by Ubuntu or any of its affiliates. It is a Universal interface, along with KDE. Every Linux system uses this. What really matters in OpenSun is its' core, or kernel. Its' kernel is a pure version of UNIX. That's what makes opensun so special: the command line, Unix. Hope I cleared things a bit for you.
@alexander9619: that is true but to say its pure Unix is a lie as the only true pure Unix is AT&T Unix all other have to be modified in some small way, that's why some programs from one Unix system do not work on another Unix system and have to be fully recompiled.
this is the worst tutorial out there.

just installed Sun VirtualBox ^^

@ParkourParadise: Open Solaris uses the Gnome Desktop as standard so startx would load GDM (GNOME Display Manager) and not KDE (KDE Display Manager)

@YuryCassiniV: Open Solaris is nothing like Ubuntu the both use the same Desktop Manager Gnome but the Kernel that drives them is different
