What's amazing to me is that the crowd waiting for the next train neatly lines up on the platform in two rows at each door... here in Canada everyone would spread out along the platform (so they're not waiting behind anyone) then rush the doors when the next train comes.
tokyo's subway system is a well-knit and complicated web which has a variety of lines, some of them connecting to far-off suburban areas. Passengers would endeavor to board if it's EXPRESS train for they might wait long for the next one.

how could anyone compare this to london or nyc?
what kind of low self esteemed moron do you have to be to be pushed into a train and then get off it and comb your hair and behave as itf that normal and go to work?... what civilisation is this?? people should be cultured enough to know not to get in a train which is already packed and just wait for the next one and if it gets crowded on trains during rush hours people should plan ahead.
A civilised action in western may be considered as uncivilised in Japan.
In Japan, pushing into a train is a proper manner but not queuing up to board is as serious as a sin.
In western, people usually don't queue up to board. What kind of low self esteemed moron do you have for not queuing up to board a train and then get off it and comb your hair and behave as if normal and go to work? What civilisation is this??
you have got it all wrong mate.. people do queue up to board the trains here in london... and if anyone jumps the queue it is not something that goes down very well with fellow passengers.
Besides you can not compare the two actions... get pushed to be packed into a train.. infact pushing others to be packed into a train is purely animalistic no matter what society you apply it to.
In western, people usually talk on the train. What kind of low self esteemed moron do you have for talking on the train and comb your hair and behave as if normal? What civilisation is this??

No mate SHEEPLE cue up to board. Elite intellectuals don't need to commute to work during peak hour. They work remotely and catch the train or taxi if needed during off-peak. Or they fly helicopters. You're just all proletarian slaves whining about your day like its acceptable. You're just fluoridated aspartame saturated slave-class.
It is bad. Unlike Tokyo, we don't behave ourselves. Ever take any of the express trains? The A and N are the worst when it comes to stupidity and selfishness.
hahahah that is GREAT i love when the train dude has to come and push the doors closed and everyone inside lets out a collective groan. good stuff. hey do you know the other day a school girl got stuck in the door and had to hang on outside until the train got to the next station? scary stuff man. sardines in a tin is true.

like omg those people are just like little picked sardines. I'm glad that we drive suvs in our country cause that way we can just fucking ride over deserts and beaches and kill deer and not touch any weirdo salarymen. Yucko. Last trains can puke it up. 4V r ^> s'-.

public transportation systems are not only for lower classes of society in Japan, but are in fact very usual and common means of transit.

I really enjoyed riding the Tokyo Metro. The staff were amazing, the stations were clean, and the system is super cheap.
Plus people have such good transit etiquette that riding on trains this crowded didn't feel all THAT bad. You just kind of sway and read a book.

I love how there is actually a proper line for the door.
So if you try to squeeze in but can't, you go to the back of the line?

And I thought NYC was bad
abinniss 4 years ago
yeah!
bunches of guys comment on video like this as if Tokyo is the craziest city in the world,
but as you see, NY, Boston, London, Cairo....
transportations of big cities should be crowded!
even though the way crowds appear is different.

It's no where near as bad as it looks, the trains are designed to be packed and everyone works together for it to work.

This has become a daily routine for me.
Usually there's some space to spare inside the train,
it's just people want to stay around the doors.

This is why climate change is happening. You might not like your SUV so much when petrol runs out or becomes rediculously expensive. =)
