Review: Timbuk2 Laptop Messenger Bag

Hey, I've been looking into these bags, only the newer ones with the Napoleon pockets, and also Chrome messengers, which would you say is best? I'm not a bike messenger, so that's something that doesn't concern me too much, but I'll be going to school soon, for programming, so i need to carry books and a laptop with me, and may ride a longboard across campus. Which would fit these needs best? Thanks

Awesome review, I've owned my classic messenger for five years and it is in GREAT condition. The bags are made very well and aside from a little wear and tear this bag has tons of life left in it.

Good review. I got mine almost 2 years ago and I paid $150 so don't fret too much about the $90 pricetag you paid. The only difference on mine is that it came with a handle on the outside which like you said is VERY convenient; bummer that they don't include it anymore.

Man, your reviews are so dang good. Heh, I've been wondering about this bag, as I've seen/heard a lot about it, but now that you've shown me, it's not quite the bag for me. Making decisions is good.

I'm not sure I like velcro, as I bring my laptop to the library and it's really loud when opening. Not having a handle is a disappointment too. And.. believe it or not, the branding. I want a bag that doesn't have cheesy branding all over it. I want it slick and simple.

know i've been debating about customizing a laptop bag from timbuk2 but i have a dell studio 17 inch laptop, but i dont want the bag to be larger than neccesary. So do you think a medium size bag would fit my laptop? The true dimensions make it seem like it would fit. I'm open to anyone's opinion.

@torgomax i believe the small bag should hold a 13" mac book nicely. even if it is a little bit big it's not gonna slide around much. it's a solid bag.

I recently just bought the new RED bag and I'm waiting for it now :) I wanted one with a laptop sleve but i couldn't decide on colours! haha I'll maybe get another one with a laptop holder tho. Great review! I do lots of research before i buy stuff online and I can definitely say that this bag is worth every penny. It's going to outlast you and they have a very strong reputation for making great bags

I got it on Amazon. There are many styles of these bags, so it can be confusing, plus some styles may have been discontinued. Good luck.

@wwwinsanelygreatmac When you purchase a Timbuk2 bag originally on their website it's completely custom because you choose your fabric, color, etc.,

It depends on which version you get. If you get a stock (imported) version it's $90 full price. If you get a custom color version (made in SF) then it's much more ($130+ full price). You can also just check out eBay or any web retailer as well.
