Used to take the Capitol Corridor up to Davis from Santa Clara depot. Nice views. We took the Zephyr to Chicago then hopped on the Cardinal to Baltimore. It was a round trip in first class bedrooms. I've uploaded vids if you want to take a look. Thanks for a great video!
By far the best paint scheme for the F-59PHI units. They don't look right any other way. I only saw this scheme briefly early on when I worked in Los Angeles in 2000, I thought it was rather nice. Too bad they repainted everything.
@jpwolfe79 I believe the reasoning behind that is that one works as a tail light, the other one will activate (flash) when the emergency brakes are applied. Just a theory.
I've ridden on that train from Fresno to San Diego. I love that train ride I wish that I would do this again but we live in Arizona now. I miss seing this train zip by on the track
I believe the repainted Superliner is named "Pacific Grove." I think all of the Superliners now used by Amtrak California have "Grove" in their names.
I'd say the Capitol Corridor is my favorite amtrak train.

hey does anybody know why the F59phs only have one functional red tail light? Are they suppose to be that way on purpose or what?

why was there a amtrak logo on the first car on the train that arrived?
PlanBSkater3191 3 years ago
That car is a repainted Amtrak long distance Superliner unit, not an Amtrak California unit. I'm guessing the logo is still there for that reason.
