  • I love the sound of the drums.

  • Playback acoustic guitar? I thought he was able to actually play it.

  • Anthony Kiedis is an awful singer in an awful band. Genuinely can't think of a more middle of the road, dull band than RHCP.

  • @FoundAMountain Hmmm. Anthony Kiedis may not be a wonderful singer, but he is far from awful. I cannot believe you, or anybody in the western world, would have the audacity to say what you said about RHCP. It may be old, but listen to Blood Sugar Sex Magic again. I can genuinely think of hundreds of duller, more middle of the road bands than RHCP. I'm guessing living in the UK you do not have "the tripe Earth" ATOMICALLY shoved down your throat like here in the states nowadays!? '90s!!! Cheers!

  • @FoundAMountain

Have you listened to anything from the Chili Peppers released in the past 20 years? You ignorant fucking twat? Listen to californication, by the way and stadium arcadium. Anthony Kiedis is an amazing singer.

  • @dangleberry9628 Kiedis is not amazing from a technical perspective. But as with Wayne, the musical content makes up for it. Now, let's just enjoy the music together.

(I love RHCP, too, just so you know it)

  • @FoundAMountain oasis the worst fucking piece of shit band to ever grace this earth followed closely by U2 members form both bands are pricks in their own right dont even go there with the RHCP.

  • damn his voice goes quick. prolly never had vocal training. makes me love it more.

  • Glastonbury and the Flaming Lips are well suited to each other. Can't wait to see them on the Friday this year :-)

  • Correct me if I'm wrong, but doesn't Glastonbury take place in the middle of July? If so, I feel bad for everyone wearing a big fucking furry animal costume (which appears to be everyone but Wayne).

  • @craccitijones its the last weekend of june. The weather there can be a little unpredictable last year it rained real hard on wednesday and there were heavy thunderstorms but it kind of dried out towards the weekend.

  • the dolphin = kyle broflovski's dad..

  • For those complaining about Wayne's voice: you miss the point of the Lips. It's about not being perfect but standing up and screaming as loud as you can anyway, and say 'I'm here and I'm alive', and that's what Wayne does everytime he's on stage.

  • @cancerparty

    amen

  • Notice that Wayne isn't using any in-ear monitors. Instead he's cupping a hand around his ear so he can hear his own voice.

Performing on a stage that size, to that many people, when you have to work to hear yourself sing? Not. Easy. To do.

  • @DreamerM yeah maybe but i never hear Wayne singin good

  • i love their studio albums but i dont like this live performance. their studio albums remind me of what i think pink floyd would have done if they were just starting out nowdays. like if the crazy Ummagumma album was recorded today.

  • for the record.... the first half and the undisputed better half of ummagumma was comprised of live performances...

BUT, i agree, the flaming lips are studio gods, not necessarily equipped for live performances, hence all of the fake blood and furry animal and giant bubble gimmicks.... their true genius lies in the editing process.

  • Agreed...His voice doesn't hold up too well for me. The music sounds great mind.

  • Funny you should say that since they're covering Dark Side of the Moon soon.

  • i'm pretty sure it's me whistling at 1:51 - 1:52

  • It's true that Wayne is not the best singer - but he sings with so much heart, he makes up for it.

    Saddam at 3:18, f--ing awesome!

  • does he usually have such problems with singing? He sounds like he's ill

  • he's like 50 years old, probably was a smoker for a large part of his life, and he was never that great to begin with

  • it's a pity then

  • he's a great singer in the same way lou reed is a great singer

  • Or Tom Waits.

  • oh yeah... cant hear him singing at all for that extremely loud crowd drowning him out.

  • genial

  • all i want in this world is one of those animal suits

    not even an animal suit

    just anything suit

    can anyone help me out?

  • i do videos in a gorilla suit.

    techcinally a head.

    but yea.

  • Nice footage.

  • a lot of my favourite bands have shite singers e.g red hot chili peppers, big strides, the specials, the white stripes.

  • red hot chilli peppers cant be included in that list cos ther shite

  • @danprid Anthony Kiedis is a great singer....

  • @danprid except that chilli peppers and white stripes both have really talented singers....

  • @danprid yeeah, but you're forgetting those are all kick ass singers

  • seeing the lips in 2 weeks cork ireland yeahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh

  • have fun i bet youre there right now. your comment says posted 2 weeks ago ^_^. <3 flaming lips

  • he is not playing the acoustic.

  • Yeah, we know! All the fans realise that it's just a prop. elvis did the same! he's not trying to con anyone.

Sometimes he does use its built in Alesis airFX effects unit to make crazy songs.

  • *sounds

  • what everyone else said.. who cares if he cant sing that well, they are amazing

this performance is one of my glastonbury highlights

  • just cos this once he was off-key like twice doesnt mean he's a bad singer, you should hear the vast majority of "singers" today...thats in to reply to someone who posted earlier...it's not just about the singing, Wayne Coyne is the most inspirational person i've ever had the priveledge to go see, and the concert i went to was one of the best days of my life. the Flips are indescribable. no offence to the person who im replying to lol not lukin 4 an arguement, just my opinion..

  • he doesnt have to he is amazing and i would die for him he is one of the best live performers ever

  • I just like that Wayne doesn't even attempt to hide the fact that he's not playing his guitar. But honestly, I don't care. They're wonderful.

  • I was there...it really was great! Such a buzz

  • Man I'm looking forward to Bon'roo '07, if I've heard correct, the Lips should be there.

  • Sounds like his voice is a little shot.

  • a little? try a shit load

  • dopey. you are missing the point completely. when i was at school they would not let me be in the choir. but THEY WERE EVIL NATURED ROBOTS

  • Yes he is very out of tune... his studiovocals are hard to sing in a live concert I think. I love Flaming Lips very much - they're one of my favorite bands! They play like a dream in this concert, so it's a little shame that his voice wasn't the best that day! But thank you for a good gig!!!

  • Hate to break it to you, but it's just a fact that Wayne isn't a good live singer. And in the studio, they use pitch correction and other little things to improve the sound of his voice. Don't get me wrong, I love the Flaming Lips, but Wayne isn't really a singer. Though, he's still one of the reasons I listen to them. I like how he can't really sing. It's a great twist, and none of their fans really care!

  • YES!

  • i was there, it was amazing

and radiohead on straight after... really doesnt get much better. cheers for putting this up dude

  • wooooww that is a kick ass gig you went to. u are so damn lucky

  • i was there too. my friend who i went with went to see bill bailey who was on at the same time.he is good but not that good!! i went to see the lips by myself. i am a freak THANK GOD i'm a weirdo

  • i wish i was there :(

  • she's a black belt in karate aye aye!
