Tal was a replacement band member a ways back and she first played with Jeff ... I think at the Chicago Crossroads Blues Festival...She is about the best Bass player I've ever heard ...at least since Stanley Clarke. she's got it goin' on for sure! Can you imagine playing with Jeff Beck at her age?
Of course there is no god - that is a crazy notion but the song is a fantastic piece of music, performed by a great lineup of players. Gotta go now and talk this over with my imaginary friend...

..or maybe the E7 on the electric piano somewhat works on the B note on the bass? The end of the chords progression doesn't sound so smooth many times during this performance.
Great gospel tune performed by state of the art(ists). And of course Sting complimented Jeff Beck's and Rod Steward's raspy tone, belting it out like I've never heard him. He poured his heart into it as they all did. So ignore the imperfections of little rehearsal time, PA, EQ, or REC. Studio version would have been night and day above any live sound. I'm grateful to have seen this time in history. New Yorkers were blessed. YouTube’s the best!
@sleighte You hate it because some dufus in a maggotzine told you to hate it. Fact is that key changes have a wonderful chilling effect that everyone with a working brain and God given emotions appreciates.
master of tone and feel..Beck. Sting not a real and great singer, but he composed some great songs and this performance is not so bad..he just cramps but that is his style..works with Roxanne alright...
Jeff is like such an amazing artist. If he were drawing a chair, (for example) as everyone else every stroke would have a perfect entrance and exit from the piece of paper with accents moving beautifully to create something so simple yet extremely individual and masterful
I hate this comparations like: X sings it better than Y...it sounds like compare apples with peaches; Up there on this level they perform it's just a question of taste, not quality... Must there be always kind of competition around? People make the same mistakes like in the classical-music- circus, where artists are condemned to cover and sometimes have to face defeating critics... Let's accept Rock/Pop as a genre of freedom - that's what it was always...
