  • i absolutely love jeff becks playing on this. amazing

  • what's up with stings neck

  • I just can advise the version of the Chambers Brothers. Touched my heart ♥

  • Awesome...

  • the song that introduced me to jeff beck and the song that made me fall in love with his playing

  • you don't need no ticket, faith is the key

  • didn't know sting sung gospel

  • Tal was a replacement band member a ways back and she first played with Jeff ... I think at the Chicago Crossroads Blues Festival...She is about the best Bass player I've ever heard ...at least since Stanley Clarke. she's got it goin' on for sure! Can you imagine playing with Jeff Beck at her age?

  • Beck is a great musician and all, but seriously. Doesn't he own a single shirt with sleeves?

  • @raizumichin No. He can't afford them.

  • I dont care who sings it as long as the GREAT JEFF BECK PLAYS IT, Nobody cant out play hom NOBODY He #1 in the world

  • hmmm......love it :-)

  • I like this this......

    Philippines

  • nadie como B. guitar de siempre de Rod Stewar

  • beck is the greatest

  • Of course there is no god - that is a crazy notion but the song is a fantastic piece of music, performed by a great lineup of players. Gotta go now and talk this over with my imaginary friend...

  • Get ready for what and what faith? Puppets, the lot of them!

  • 23 people are not ready

  • Sting is a creepy old hump dog.

  • Good guys !!!!

  • Great respect for Sting, seriously,

but (imagine) Rod S was standing there??

  • great great great band !!!

  • jealousy there is no cure. sting you fly like an eagle.

  • love this

  • Sting is intact... very visceral here..

  • 2:05 - Anyone else noticed the "which chord should I play now" with the bass and the keys?

  • ..or maybe the E7 on the electric piano somewhat works on the B note on the bass? The end of the chords progression doesn't sound so smooth many times during this performance.

  • EPIC!

  • Sting's got some groove. Yeah, yeah, yeah.

  • Beck's set at this concert was awesome!

  • Tal Wilkenfeld is a bass goddess. 'Nough said.

  • my favorite :P

  • стинг

  • Great gospel tune performed by state of the art(ists). And of course Sting complimented Jeff Beck's and Rod Steward's raspy tone, belting it out like I've never heard him. He poured his heart into it as they all did. So ignore the imperfections of little rehearsal time, PA, EQ, or REC. Studio version would have been night and day above any live sound. I'm grateful to have seen this time in history. New Yorkers were blessed. YouTube’s the best!

  • badas

  • Sting's high pitched singing/screaming spoils this performance for me.

Rod Steward's singing has much more dignity in this song.

Nobody else has even come close yet.

  • The Roger Taylor & Jeff Beck 2011 version of People Get Ready is Much Better.

  • i hate that fucking half step raise 3/4 through

  • @sleighte What the transposition? haha.

  • @sleighte its how the song was written, not a personal choice or anything.

  • @sleighte You hate it because some dufus in a maggotzine told you to hate it. Fact is that key changes have a wonderful chilling effect that everyone with a working brain and God given emotions appreciates.

  • Wow!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Pretty sure that is NOT Jeff's daughter. Yes it's Tai. She is VERY good.

  • think it´s not the best version of this song...ntl beck is great!!!

  • YES!

  • seal does it best

  • You know that the bass player is Jeff's daughter.

  • @jullivia LMAO --- Not so. Her name is Tal Wilkenfeld she is from Australia. BTW Jeff Beck has no children.

  • @hugatag eh eh...you mean "claimed children" haha

  • @beardown2489 True!

  • @hugatag and she knows how to groove

  • Great set. Beck just makes that guitar sing & Sting is just a plain, great singer.

  • This is a fantastic version of a beautiful song, love it!

  • sting is as high as a kite

  • Przepięknie.......................

  • Sting isn´t into it, he isn´t focused and is out of it.

  • Fantastic song by Curtis Mayfield, embraced by the American civil rights movement in the 60s. I'm sorry but Sting's voice does not suit.

  • what a redneck.

  • Well guys let's face it... Tal pisses over Sting when she plays bass. And she's so gorgeous! I love her!

    Thumbs up for her!

  • People knocking Sting? I think he does a great job here. In fact, never saw him sing so well. Beck is superb.

  • poor sting... pitch was never his thing... half step down might help, but not sure.

  • master of tone and feel..Beck. Sting not a real and great singer, but he composed some great songs and this performance is not so bad..he just cramps but that is his style..works with Roxanne alright...

  • I just love wilkenfeld!

Why the fuck is Sting out of tune?!

  • Jeff is like such an amazing artist. If he were drawing a chair, (for example) as everyone else every stroke would have a perfect entrance and exit from the piece of paper with accents moving beautifully to create something so simple yet extremely individual and masterful

  • /watch?v=N-1JFTU5T54

    Love this version...

  • Fucking shite eva cassiday is so much better

  • Sting sucks

  • grandiose!

  • People - GET READY!

Christ is coming. Be perfect as the Father is.

  • Tom Hanks in NAUFRAGO

  • Fucking great job, Sting.

  • Jeff Beck always amazes me.....sorry Sting, the Rod Stewart version is soooo much better!

  • Master guitar player in Beck. The guitar has morphed into his psyche

  • is tal wilkenfeld in the bass

  • Who is this groovin' girl on the bass?

  • @FredelBabedel Tal Wilkenfeld.

  • I hate this comparations like: X sings it better than Y...it sounds like compare apples with peaches; Up there on this level they perform it's just a question of taste, not quality... Must there be always kind of competition around? People make the same mistakes like in the classical-music- circus, where artists are condemned to cover and sometimes have to face defeating critics... Let's accept Rock/Pop as a genre of freedom - that's what it was always...

  • Everything was great then Sting started singing . . . : (

  • ...another exaple, how great music can be - performed by the nowaday's masters...!

  • Sting! Fantastic!

  • to bad sting sings!!

  • Stewart sings it better, but I don't think there is a guitarist alive that can touch Page on this tune.

  • I won,t be ready til, Rod Stewart sing this song! Otherwise Jeff played it great as always.

  • muito boa!! is a very good song!!

  • to make the song how great God! Jeff Beck and Sting had done it .. Amen

  • For god's sake shave that beard!!

  • @yoheff988 For god's sake don't!!

  • The bassgirl is Tal Wilkenfeld... born in 1986 in Sydney...

  • I am Brazilian and there is a version of a Brazilian band called"Oficina G3" is it worth seeing only a pretty good version and rock'n roll ... hug from Brazil a comment there ...

  • 45 seconds in and Im in awe of jeck beck(again),the man is just the best there is,with sting this is truly amazing video

  • I said this on another video, but it begs to be said again: Jeff Beck is one of the best soloists AND sidemen around. He clearly sets the background for singers to sound great; he has done so from the beginning when he worked with Rod Stewart on Beck Ola and Truth.

  • Jeff Beck- we are all fortunate to have him around.

  • @hoarse01 I can't imagine music without Jeff Beck!!! My all time favorite since I was in 9th grade.

  • Curtis Mayfield is the best

  • sonsofday does a pretty good version of this song

  • Am I the only one that thinks Sting's voice is one of the best ive heard....

  • @Dereck1804 yes you are

  • Comment removed

  • No offence, but this song isn't for Sting.

  • TAL IS RIPPING UP THE STAGE!!!! WOOH

  • baeck's too good. sting's voice not. It's a pity. This song deserves much more inspiration.

  • TAL!!!!!!

  • grosse MUSIK. danke

  • I love Sting and Jeff Beck and People get ready as well. This version is very interesting and it shows Jeff and Sting are still in good shape.

Of course, version from 1985 was better but only because Rod Steward is better singer than Sting. Anyway it's good to see and sing these two great musicians together.

ps.I completely disagree with pennywise's opinion. Jeff proves to be a genious, also in this song.

  • I hate this version mostly due to Beck. He plays as a guitar onanist putting lots of unnecessary sounds pitched so much that the teeth fillings brake. It doesn't sound good for me.

  • I'll vote for Jeff Beck & the original (Bob Dylan) or Curtis Mafield for this song needs alot of soul to be perfect! Who is the great young lady on the bass?

  • @ohiodixiechick2 tal wilkenfeld

  • @ataxify Thanks for the info! al wilkenfield...what great talent! Was she on the TV guitar tribute to Les Paul?

  • Beck is feeling the riffs in this great song, but it horribly exposes the weediness of Sting's voice.

Listen instead to Al Green's (& Linda Jones) inspired version, or Alicia Keys, or the delightful original.

  • @nonicknamekid2010 because he can wear whatever he wants?

  • @nonicknamekid2010 So are you disappointed that he doesn't dress like that fucking Jonas Brothers? Good god. This man mastered the guitar when he first picked it up, and hasn't gone anywhere but up, and you're going to comment on his attire? So he likes to wear vests and scarfs.

people (or just you) need to get something through their/your thick skull(s): Jeff Beck doesn't dress gay. Gay men dress like Jeff Beck.

  • actually he is modeling Marvin Gaye

  • sounds like ``waiting for a world to change´

    ´ by John Mayer

  • @inaRization nononononononono NO. John Mayer, sounds like the impressions, not the other way around.

  • essa é a música...

  • Jeff Beck is Extraordinary! Sting was Great! The Song is nonetheless.. Great Overall Performance.

  • I only like this Because of Sting

  • @cliffordbond1

what is wrong with jeff or the band?

  • : ) 10+

  • what amp was he using here? the fender blues deluxe?

  • i like sting singing this...

  • @trottheblackdog were you listening bro? stings voice sounds fucking amazing. I was at this concert and he sounded better than i've heard. Just an impeccable show.

  • Wow the old man's voice is starting to slip. That band however, with Jeff at the helm, is sailin' along...

  • No offense to aussies here but never liked Sting much"out side of men at work I mean,"Jeff Beck on the other hand is amazing composer, player.Just my humble opinion.

  • @USAdude30 lol wut? Sting = Men at Work? thou art trolling good sir.

  • @zennydoo Lol....Sorry bro,I couldn't help my self at the time. This happens when I have those >I think I'll take a life break and just watch Y/T and drink beer for 4 hours,of course I catch a bit of a buzz and get the bright idea to make dumb ass comments, thinking I'm funny, but I'm really not.hahaaaa Oh and I'm sober now, drinking morning coffee and Jeff Beck blows me away either way..?<How was that for a short,to the point answer? <Back to dumb ass comments again:)

  • Sting was a bad choice for this song.

  • Hey its Les Stroud!!!

  • I love it how it plays the same song sooo differently everytime. And manages to be brilliant every time :)

  • name of the bass-girl?????

  • @DrumEagle

    Tal Wilkenfeld

    now I can thank myself

  • hmm without Rod, kinda like it

  • yu guys shud check out tal's bass solo in cause we've ended as lovers its amazing

  • Sting is a red neck. Literally.

  • Jeff and the band are awesome.

Need Rod singing this one though...

  • Rod > Sting...

  • LOVE the bass player!

  • Bob Marley

  • @garnettk21 Curtis Mayfield

  • Jeff... Jeff..Jeff play till you 90...Curtis is smilin in his grave

  • Jeff Beck is simply fantastic. Pick up any guitar....so much residual noise can be made. Page was "noisy". Beck is a master of nuance, subtlety, and "noise control". Damn, I love hearing Beck play! And this is a soulful example!

  • bass girl is the best ^^

  • @damislav Tal Wilkenfeld....Australian and like 25 years old....has a most inventive use for the upper cutaway never seen elsewhere

  • @damislav

    i agree she jams

  • @damislav shes jeff becks daughter!!

  • @hastings037 no she's not

  • @damislav Tal Wilkenfeld! Yess, she is indeed!!

  • @damislav She always plays with Jeff Beck.

  • @skooter72 Lucky Jeff Beck!!!!!

  • @damislav Yeah, her name is Tal Wilkenfeld and had only been playing bass for 3 yrs. when she toured with Chick Corea and then Jeff Beck, in 2007-2010.

  • bass girl is the best ^^

  • Is it just me, or this song reminds you also of "Waiting for the world to change" by John Mayer?

  • @Piotrelek123 lol, give the article on Wikipedia for that song a good look, it was based on People Get Ready which was originally done by Curtis Mayfield? I think...but definitely cool of John to give a shout to the legends and throw his own spin on it. This video however, is awesome!

  • It's nice to see the genius in one place!

  • did sting have a major sunburn or something? why is his throat so red?

  • Thank the lord :)

  • Love the song, but the studio cover version with Rod Stewart is far superior to this.

  • LIke or dislike Jeff and Sting.... all praise and glory to Curtis Mayfield. He's responsible for everything in this song that completely works.

  • Beck butchered that solo. He could have played better one with his left foot - if he had focused.

  • @woland99 A brave thing to say amongst Beck devotees but I gotta agree mate!

  • Sting just f@ck up the hole song , sorry mate ... see how Seal or Rod Stuart put ther soul in .... anyhow , great Jeff Beck !!!!

  • Huh! For a minute there, I thought they were starting in John Mayer's - Waiting on the World to change hehe! This is also an awesome song though :)

  • Actually the chord progression recalls me of U2. Beck & his band are outstanding though, as Sting is. Love'em.

  • Actually the chord progression here recalls me some of U2. Beck & his band are outstanding though, as is Sting.

  • I usually love sting, but this one didn't work for me, jeff beck is just awesome! my favorite is beck with rod stewart, their voices together is the incomparable

  • Great to hear Jeff, but Stings voice all over the place

  • I pressed before I even pressed play.

  • Although I don't like disrespectful remarks between people in their commentaries here I must in substance part agree with 'jscully' on Sting's rendition of this song. I find it hollow and sort of fake. In my opinion each artist would be better advised to remain within their 'talent range'. Sting is great in his own range and compositions but again i have to agree with js having worked on a tour with Sting he is terribly sanctimonious and at time condescending.

  • sting did a great job here! the band is unbelievable!

  • Great vid!!! Vinnie colaiuta & Tal Wilkenfeld aswell :) niccceee

  • i hate people saying things about the ones who disliked the video but really how come someone dislike such a mastrpiece?

  • AWESOME! What a talented group. Love the bass player.
