i know this sounds mean and cruel and i'm not trying to be and i do hope the boy recovers but this is why there are crosswalks and stoplights to prevent accidents like this from happening. or if there isn't one close by or even in the area you should always stop and look both ways and wait for traffic to at least slow down or until you don't see any other cars.
