  • Emile Autumn, Regina Spektor, Amanda Palmer are all different women with different stories to tell. The song they write are how they view the world and its past. Inspiration is what it has always been.

  • Palmer's voice is so rough deep, like a snotty old english woman or something. Regina sounds like a cute ditzy, easily distracted and playful littler girl. I've always wanted them to do a song together, becaues they sing so differently. And I mean a REAL duet, not that Uh-Merica song on youtube where Palmer sings like 4 notes for the whole song....

  • the way she sings, i do become afraid of the lame and the old and the cold

  • Regina and Amanda are two very different people with VERY different styles. Regina has this sweet, eloquent whisper to her music while Amanda is all about raw emotion and would rather a song move you then sound perfect. Both styles are fantastic but can't really be compared because they are so different. What's the point of a cover that just mimics the original?

  • this made my day.

  • The German is:

What are you doing, Regina? (Was machst du, Regina?)

The old ones, they don't understand us. (Die Alten, sie verstehen uns nicht)

What are you doing, Regina? (Was denn machst du, Regina?)

The false ones are ever still right. (Die Falsche sind noch immer recht)

    What are you doing, Regina?

The cold one has judged us. (Die Kalte hat uns eingeschätzt)

What does one do, Regina? (Was macht man, Regina?)

The Ice Age comes, the flood shattered. (Die Eiszeit kommt, die Flut zerbrach)

  • Can anybody translate the german part?

  • Two of my favorite artists!

  • she has a nice voice but she isn't suited for this song. This song is very gentle compare to her hardcore cover

  • What the fuck? She sings like she's on crack or something.

  • @funnyfacerful

If you actually knew more of amanda palmer, you would know that she's very different from emilie autumn. I love both of them and they are very different.

  • @funnyfacerful Emilie Autumn wishes she could be Amanda Palmer..

  • @funnyfacerful I don't get what you're saying when Amanda has been around since 1989 whereas Emilie has been performing since 2000.

  • Was machst du, Regina? Die Alten, sie verstehen es nicht. Was denn, machst du, Regina? Die Falschen sind noch immer ???. Was machst, machst du, Regina? Die Kälte hat uns eingeschätzt (?). Was denn? Mach mal, Regina! Die ??? kommt, die Flut zerbricht (?)...

  • Instead of Russian part she sings something in German, something about art of Regina :)

  • She is emotional and she replaced Russian part with German.

  • I'm pleasantly surprised by Amanda Palmer here. Her vocals tend to be more raw, but she really cleaned them up for this cover, reenforcing the fact that for her originals, she is making a conscious artistic choice, and is not merely limited in her vocal ability.

Great job Amanda. I wish there was a better quality audio for this.

  • both amanda and regina give it a special "something" to it. i love it.

  • I have to say, this is probably the best attempt at a Regina Spektor cover. I like it.

  • is that the chick with the hairy pits in that music video ???

  • no way, both my total FAVOURITE female musicians, i nearly jizzed when i saw this!

  • @IFUCKINLOVETEA CAN I GET A AMEN ! HELL YEAH ! I DID TOO !

  • oh man this is the first i've heard from this lady and i'm noooot feeling it ):

    leave it to regina!

  • Listen to her solo material, or The Dresden Dolls.

  • @ADreamAsLovely Don't give up on Amanda. She's fucking amazing. Look up some of her original songs :)

  • Hmmm I think Regina does it better live :/ still an amazing song though...

  • I love her power in this. Regina and Amanda are both wonderful musicians~

  • i love how i find Amanda Palmer... [love her to death] covers another artist [Regina spektor] that i love to death :D

  • No shit. It's Amanda Fucking Palmer.

What'd you expect when you clicked "AMANDA PALMER- APRES MOI"?

  • i'm stating that it's not regina so therefore it isn't good

    chill the fuck out

  • i like how amanda plays the piano D:

but this song doesn't fit to her :)

  • I agree with singingcarrots she is flat. Regina is much much better!

  • Nobody gives a fuck.

  • Obviously you do since you HAD to post it

  • You got me, feel better?

  • this cover is an insult to the song. she's extremely flat, and she's not half the pianist regina is.

  • what did she says in the Russian parts, it's not the original isn't it?

  • yes, absolutely no russian words)

at least, i can't understand it but I'm Russian ;)

  • Amanda Speaks German I'm pretty sure ;)

  • hahaha, thats quite funny, good, interesting

  • amandas cover is cool.. but i like reginas version better russian part just gives me goosebumps...

  • it's so cool to see two vocalists with such different styles play this song, which is amazing.

  • Haha this is so cool! I mean, this song doesn't really suit Amanda raw voice.. but it's nice anyway.. Amanda is cool (-:

  • When I first heard the original song by Regina, I immediately thought of Amanda and The Dresden Dolls. I'm new to Reginas music, but I think her voice suited this song more. Amandas version is still great though! They're both so great

  • Very, very stoked on Amanda's Regina covers. They're awesome.

  • i think she says something about regina spektor in german?

  • the only part I caught clearly was the 'was machst du Regina?'. It's pretty much 'What do you do, Regina?'

  • did any one catch that first I what is this woman's vocal range. Anyhow I'm not sure she was singing the same poem but given I don't no Russian I wouldn't be able to tell if that's her accent anyway her version is very moving I Think that although the song came from Regina's mind it must of come at an odd moment because it's way darker than everything else I heard from her. The darkness of the song sutes this singer very well.

  • No, they weren't the same poem. The original was Boris Pasternak's Fevrale, or February. And this is something else, I think a personal note to Regina Spektor.

  • Was machst du, Regina? ;)

  • it's awesome that Amanda Palmer covered Regina Spektor

i love both of them so much<3

but no one can sing a Regina with the same effect

  • I love amanda and the dresden dolls, but Regina did it way better.

  • ...and i just came...

  • one of the best singers in the world covering the other. oh. my. GOD!!!!! im going to explode!!!!!

  • I was just about to say that! xD

  • Ho-ly. Shit.

Okay so Amanda Palmer was my first girlfriend and then Regina Spektor.

So this video is just orgasmic for me.

My hands have all kinds of bite marks.

    :D

  • I loved it

  • is the "russian part" in this cover even russian? it kind of sounds like german...

  • definitely not the same thing as regina's version (i.e. Pasternak's poem)

  • I love regina and amanda palmer, this makes me so happy =3

  • Yeah. She shouldn't have sung that.

  • People can try to cover Regina Spektor, but it will never be the same standard or better.

  • her voice really doesn't flow with this song. its almost dark and weird. idk how to explain

  • Amanda Palmer covering Regina Spector (this must be what heaven sounds like). I love Amanda Palmer's approach to the song.

  • *agrees*

  • i feel weird how everyones criticizing her. you can still see the emotion through her singing, and she's not trying to beat regina or anything. it's more of a props.

  • ouch.. the sound quality of the video Dx

    neat performance though :3

  • Crazy! Amazing!

  • She's certainly not Regina, but I kind of like her unique voice to this song. I think she makes it darker, and a little bit more her own. Of course, I still admire Regina's a bit more.

  • i really liked the piano but her voice just can't be matched to the equivalent of Regina's voice.Sorry Amanda, I'm just saying that her voice isn't right for the song but she does have a good voice

  • I agree...

I also don't think she has the technique that Regina has, as far as the piano playing. I like her, but she Regina are just... different. :]

  • thank you for agreeing with me :)

  • Amanda is a fantastic pianist, but I just don't like her voice. I won't say she's a bad singer because that's unfair to say, I just don't care for her voice. She has a very unique style though.

  • The last minute of the song... Is that a solo begining of Half Jack?

Well anyway i do like the cover a lot, she's always so passionnate that it makes me feel like crying. It's just amazing how she can make laugh and cry in the same show!

  • very very very cool.

  • this is the english translation, as far as i did understand the german part she sings:

what are you doing, regina? the old souls don't understand

what are you doing, regina? the disposers still are right-wing

what are you doing, regina? the cold has surrounded us

what are you doing, regina? the ice age nears, the flood will burst

  • What does she say in german?

  • ahh i saw her last yr and huged her hehe woot love u amandaaaaaaaa

  • Holy f****** s***.

This is the most amazing thing I have ever seen in my entire life, ever.

  • Good girl

  • someone translate that..cuz its awesome

its obviousely a praise to regina cuz i hear the german equivalent of "regina....you are the sh*t" ha

    amanda's awesome.

    regina's awesomer.

jenny lewis is awesomest(!?) but thats another story.

    the end.

  • Dude.. yes.. I agree. Those three ladies are amazing. I've met Jenny, now I just have to meet the other two, and my life will be complete.

Oh wait, and Zooey Deschanel. :) <3

  • it's not russian; it's german... but i can't decipher it

  • Nice cover. What is she singing instead of the Russian part Regina usually sings?

  • That's what I was wondering - hopefully someone speaks Russian and can translate.

  • it's really german, she sings something with "die flut" -> "the flood", but it's hard to understand everything :/

i belive it's just a translation from the russian part to german. amanda speaks german, regina speaks russian- makes sense, doesn't it?

  • @flickeringwasteland I speak fluent Russian..

    WTF IS SHE DOING? O_O

  • @STOPtheHORROR

    She's singing in German!!

  • @3Annika7 No shit sherlock?

  • @STOPtheHORROR

    No shit. I'm german.

  • @3Annika7 And?

  • @flickeringwasteland Google is your best friend

  • @flickeringwasteland

Read the comments below, insted of the usual russian part, she sings in German

  • @flickeringwasteland it's german

  • @flickeringwasteland she replaces the russian part with german

  • it's german, not russian... i can't decipher it totally.

  • Fevrale dostat chernil i plakat,

    Pisat O Fevrale navsnryd,

    Poka grohochushaya slyakot

    Vesnoyu charnoyu gorit.

    Here's the rough English translation:

    February. Get ink, shed tears.

Write of it, sob your heart out, sing,

    While torrential slush that roars

Burns in the blackness of the spring.

  • well that was regina's version. i didn't realize she was singing something different. wasn't all the way through watching =p

  • Wicked! I recorded this too but my focud was off and I was peaking through heads ... glad you nabbed this.

  • freakin' awesome <333

  • Now that's an awesome cover done by an amazing artist!
