  • I've had seizures at work, and I work in a machine shop. I was very lucky, the only thing that has happened is superficial wounds (cuts) on my head.

  • I hope my seziers dont make die

  • Thank you for making this video. It makes me feel like there's finally someone who seems to care. So many people act like it's nothing, and knowing these statistics is heartbreaking when I look back and remember how many of my classmates in school made fun of the way I looked or acted when I had a seizure. It's not a laughing matter. I want to be a neurologist when I get done with school to help people with epilepsy, probably a pediatric neurologist.

  • Lost a friend to epilepsy yesterday evening... R.I.P. I don't think there's not enough awareness of Epilepsy so i appreciate your vid very much. Well done.

  • Nice video except for the part where you made the grave stoones yourself -.-'' and ANYONE with a little common sense should be able to understand that if someone falls unconscious while having heavy whole body spasms, that the person could get harmed from falling or hitting something....also anyone that has seizures should, for their own sake, be to paranoid enough not to bath alone if they know they can get random seizures...it is common sense, stupidity is what kills people.

  • @Pumanic I find your comment very insulting. Do you know how DEGRADING it is to have a seizure in front of someone? To have to ask your friends to drive you places because you can't? To not be able to go to clubs because of strobe lights? I may be epileptic, but I am JUST LIKE YOU. All we want is to live normal lives. What you're basically saying is that we're stupid to even try to live. If you lived my life, you would have wanted to kill yourself. Epilepsy is way more serious than you think.

  • @kodocha2010

Are you retarded? I too have seizures, and no, I don't find it humiliating. I too can't drive, and I have a horse, so every time I need to take her someplace, my friends help me out.

I go to clubs with stromb, I am a rave style dancer, but I wear taggs saying I have EP and I always have friends with me, friends that always know what to do and that my seizures aint the end of the world.

I AM JUST LIKE YOU, DUMBASS, AND IT IS NOT THE END OF YOUR WORLD TO HAVE EP!

    Stop your whining.

  • @kodocha2010

SO to sum it up, smarty, you and me are no different, I just learned to handle the seizures a little bit better. Except for driving a car, there is little you can't do that seperates you from others. And if you are not completely socially incapeble, then you should have atleast a few friends to bring with you if you go out. I don't fear my EP nor my seizures, I warn people, my friends and people who work at the clubs and festivals. I avoid dangers as much as I can, but I LIVE.

  • @kodocha2010

As a side note, I LOVE to take baths, but I never take them unless I have people nearby. I go to bath hoses, festivals, clubs, conventions, carnvalls, you name it. I avoid standing on things or places where I could fall and hurt myself, I never sit facing the table at clubs, so I can fall to the floor without hitting something if I have a seizure. I can have atonic-myclonic and grand mall (tonic clonic) seizures several times a week/day. It only stops you if you want it too.

  • Heya,i think you've been a huge inspiration for epilepsy patients like me,thank you for sharing and letting people know whut it feels like and the awareness..your truly a gift from God...may God bless you always...keep safe and i hope all is good with you..

    Peace

  • Chelle,

Thank you for the vid. I'm an epileptic. I have inhareted from my grandmother on my mom's (it skipped mom) side. I've been living with it for 9 months, and have been nearly seizure free during that time (I beleave that I have had a few petit mals, but not a gran mal). They say that I may grow out of it since it is genetic, but I kind of want to stay on the medication....just in case. I take karate (shudo-ryo style, the jujitsu version) Anyway, much Idahoan thanks! And may God bless you!

  • Hi,

thanks for the vid. I am a 25yr old mother to 3 and in the last year my epliespy has started to flare up again after 4years being free.

I really needed to see this today so thank you!

It is so hard for us!

You encouraged me to keep going to keep fighting for more awareness.

    xxx

  • I lost a friend just over 11 years ago due to suffocation during a seizure. He was sleeping on the morning of his 15th birthday. He had been diagnosed with epilepsy not long before. I miss him tremendously...and this video has really helped me revisit the memory of him...and has given me some personal insight into his day to day life before he passed. Shawn Roger Reichel, I miss you, and love you.

  • i also have epilepsy and have never heard of someone dying from it until i met nathan scanlon. his sister toni died from a massive seizure.

  • This video is very touching, I to suffer from epilepsy. First time in 1999. I was in a car wreck hit my on windsheild, due to not wearing my seat belt. front seet passander I have 5 kids, was told I can not take care of children by myself. I dont see them every day! A kind word helpsI A headstone in video it said Nickie on it, that is how I spell my name and that's how it happened to me, but im not dead, Thank God! I just live with seizures! -angel lover

  • Thank you for video, very touching. My son had a near drowning as a result of seizure. In coma on life support. Too often seizures are taken forgotten.

  • Good job! My partner has generalized seizures. He copes with adversity like a saint. I am grateful to you for the work you're doing. Nice job.

  • I pray for all ppl with epilepsy all the time during this video i did cry ! But at the same time am very happy there are people who talk and share things ! the worst thing of this illness is that you never know for sure its gone even if you dont have any seizure for years... than makes your life so limited and most of the time depressed and really sad you know especially for the ones who have children and think what if my children see me in that condition...its too damn sad !

  • It's amazing how few videos there are on general facts about epilepsy. Thanks for sharing & from someone like me who was diagnosed when i was 20, there is still life with epilepsy! Keep fighting, & educating..

  • Good video! I've had epilepsy all my life. I'm 46. My last seizure put me down, it broke my back and dislocated my shoulder. I've been out of work for over 2 years now....never to go back. It's been a tough journey, but I'm still alive.

  • There really should be a cure for Epilepsy!...

  • I have Epilepsy as does my best friend and my twin sister. My friend has two car accidents due to a seizure while driving. She went 9 years without a seizure but then they started up again. She is no longer able to drive and sometimes has a seizure if she misses meds. We all take care of each other though. Seizures suck but we have to take care ourselves and make sure we do thing right and become educated abotu Epilepsy.

  • About 15 years ago I lost a friend, he had a seizure in his hot tub unsupervised, and drowned. Yes it's SO real and I just can't believe that people dare laugh. They really don't have a clue I guess. I don't drive, I have a seat in my shower, no bath, I take my meds, anything and everything withIN my power. That's all I can do.

  • my friend just died from a seizure today this shits hella real r.i.p brandon hawthorne

  • This is a good video! I do not suffer from epilepsy myself, but since two month now I have a friend ho does. She is realy sweet, does not ask for much in life and shows courage I could never bring up! I hope that I can play a part in her living a happy life! whe cant change if we die, but in life all deserve happiness! This video makes me wanna try harder for her, but of course its up to her to how much help she wants to accept! Not easy beeing the "helped" all the time! She helps me to though!

  • im sorry for you true aim. its hard to understand, but the fact is...you dont how much damage it can cause. ive been an epileptic since i was 15 and im 24 now. i virtually cant go anywhere or do anything, cause of fallilng down and hurting myself. please try to understand man. and i thank the maker of this film.

  • I wish everybody could see this video.

I was born with epilepsy and struggled with it my whole life.

And ppl bullied me for it.

I nearly died a few times.

I've had to get stitches in my chin after falling into the concrete...

and ppl think this is a joke?!?!

    BULLSHIT!!!

  • I have epilepsy I had 3 seizure I think... And still Alive lol

  • Lovely video. It's such a shame that most people don't even know what the word epilepsy means. It's really great to see someone trying to raise awareness.

  • Interesting video.

  • hi my jon and i too have epilepsy and my girlfreind does too the condition should be taken much more seriously lives can be saved find a cure!!

  • There is nothing we can do about it expect be careful, what's the point in scaring ourselves.

I don't go swimming by myself, I take my medication. Little else I can do.

  • Epilepsy needs to be cured before anyone gets hurt again.

  • i just got through watching the video and i just want to say thank you for just even getting people to know a little bit more i have grand mal and petite or absent seizures the doctor is takin me off keppra and im scared not being on the medication but i know inside its healthier today is my first day all the way off my pills i guess i feel just lost... thank you so much!!

How are you? Thanks for stopping by again. I have often thought about Daniel since hearing your story and it saddens me each time. I'm glad my videos have some purpose and have been lucky enough to have met you through making them. I hope 2009 turns out to be all you hoped it would be.

    Love

    Chelle x

  • SUDEP took my sister, Julia, in 2003. Until then, I didnt believe that anyone died from epilepsy...

  • Phil,

I am so sorry to hear about Julia :-( Should ever you need to talk about it, feel free to message. Still, we do not know as much about Epilepsy as we need to, this is why you, myself and so many others didn't or don't know exactly how devestating it can potentially be.

I hope the year 2009 brings you much happiness, Phil. Thank you for watching my video.

    Chelle x

  • More heros we have lost,

Tina (24 yrs) Amanda(8yrs) Livio (11 yrs) and Holden (a very young adult)

  • These kinds of videos are so important.

My greatest fear is my baby girl being in status and losing her. Or missing a night seizure and losing her than......

Thank you for a great job well done.

Your a brave warrior, and wonderful friend.

    love,

    Ryn

  • Well done.

  • Great video once again. You are truly amazing for giving up your time to dedicate to issues like this which are rarely discussed or known about.

Your videos are refreshing, wish more people would use youtube this way.

Keep up the good baby. I love you xxxx

  • This video brought tears to my eyes because people who suffer with epilepsy are not being diagnosed soon enough or get bullied to the point they commit suicide....there's no reason for those with epilepsy to continue to suffer when it's not their fault that they are different....
