  • how do u protect them from cold in winter? :)

  • @LexieBracciano

I put heaters up for them, but since I live in Arizona it doesn't really get too cold. The temperature usually hovers right around 40 degrees at night.

  • i just got 2 parakeets and when i play this buy there cage they become so excited and now there more comfortable i think so awsome video and thanks

  • what a wonderful cage and toy <3 where did you get the toy?

  • @rabbitsundco Thanks for your kind comment. Tell me which toy you are referring to and I'll let you know where I got it. Thanks. :)

  • thats a very nice looking cage.. where did you get this cage from?? i would like to own one like this one for my budgies..

  • @PBWillyWonka I bought it as a kit a couple years ago at a bird store. You can look at the different kinds that are made by the same company online. Look for Bird Cage Mart and search for walk-in aviaries. Your budgies will LOVE it.

  • im using parakeet videos and chirping to calm my parakeets. had em for 4 days so far

  • AMAZING CAGE!

  • that's amazing!

  • Somehow I'd missed this video and never seen it before. Wow, what an awesome aviary set up you have! It must be such a pleasure to be able to just sit down and watch them flying around, interacting, and just going about their budgie business! It's a little parakeet oasis =)

  • @kiliparrot

Awww...thanks! I do love to listen to the chatter of those happy little guys. There's nothing like it. :)

  • They look very happy!

Did you design and custom make the aviary?

  • @LuvaBird2009

Thank you. I think they're pretty happy too. :) I didn't design the aviary. I purchased it as a kit and just had to put it together.

  • sweet setup!

  • Its pretty nice you keep it clean but birds are designed to fly and be free. Why keep them in

the cage they really look sad:(

  • @Babyconures I am trying to understand why your feel they are sad. Your name is Baby Conures but you have no videos posted. Do you own a bird? If so, isn't he in your home where he can be safe? The birds that are bred as pets are not able to survive if allowed to fly free. They are not in their natural environment. They don't know how to fend for themselves. It would be so sad if they were let out of this aviary in order to have free flight only to be eaten by a predator. :(

  • Wow this is amazing!

  • where do u take emm in the winter time? lol all inside???

  • @blackops5256

I put heaters up for them, but since I live in Arizona it doesn't really get too cold. The temperature usually hovers right around 40 degrees at night. Can you imagine taking them all inside. LOL

  • How do you keep it so clean?

  • @tbabeincontrol

I rake it out once a week and remove all the spilled seed and droppings. :)

  • I wish I had one aviary like that ! It is great !

  • what do u do when it gets too hot or too cold??

  • @jc90nemo

I put heaters up for them, but since I live in Arizona it doesn't really get too cold. The temperature usually hovers right around 40 degrees at night. In the summer I put up misters to keep it cool.

  • in case its raining then how should i protect my birds ? im planning to make something similar to ur villa ....& can i put cockatiels& parakeets together ?

  • @6123nancy

I have a cover over half of the aviary. It is a clear tarp that is specially made for outdoor use. It can handle extreme heat from the sun and gives great protection from rain. Yes, you can place cockatiels and parakeets together. I had 25 parakeets and 15 cockatiels in another aviary that I have. That was considerably larger. It was 6' high x 6' wide x 13' long. I never had any trouble with them picking on each other or fighting. They all got along great!

  • @sootykitty : thanks alot

  • PARADISE!!!

  • What do you do in the winter time???

  • @Erik69ization

I put heaters up for them, but since I live in Arizona it doesn't really get too cold. The temperature usually hovers right around 40 degrees at night.

  • aww they look so happy:]

  • I think it is wonderful that you take them in and give them a safe home. I have two myself and they love listening to your birdies chirping on this video. I'm not really sure how old they are. I got them from my brother-in-law, and he had them for a couple years. I have had them about 6 years now. They are a happy healthy pair.

  • @N1CK0L4SB0WM4N

I'm so glad that your birds like to enjoy listening to the aviary. I just love the chattering that they do.

  • This video makes me want to be a budgie :-) That would be so cool to live in there, hangin' with your peeps all day :-D

  • @CrazyCatCulby

Yes, it is. I love to take a folding chair in with me and sit. Some of the birds are brave enough to come and sit near me. :)

  • @sootykitty i cant w8 to get some stuff for my bird (hes a loner getting 1 tommorow though fonna ba a nice female friend) you have some nice toys there where did you get them

  • @gamerzx10

Were you able to get your little guy his girlfriend? I hope all is well with you. Many of the toys that are in the aviary were hand made by me, but all the plastic ones were purchased at a local petshop. I also buy some toys online from different places.

  • so great... i think you have good care of them and it tells that you love parakeets :)

  • Thank you I can tell your a very compassionate person not only by the way you treat your birds but also how you interact with other people thank you

  • @TZ3z

Thanks for your kind words. :)

  • Can you give some advice, I just came home this evening to find my beautiful blue budgie "Keet" dead,.. He has lived with me and his girlfriend "parry" for 6 years not counting the time he spent in the pet store I burried him just 30 minutes ago and I keep thinking it's my fault that he died

  • @TZ3z

I am so sorry for the loss of your beloved bird. I think that it may have just been his time. It sounds like he had a wonderful happy life with you and his buddy Parry. It is so hard to lose a little guy like that. I'm sure that you're very sad. It is never easy. It is hard to say what caused his death, but I'm sure that you did the best you could for him while you had him. Please just know that you gave him a great home and for that you can be proud. I'm sure he knew he was loved

  • @TZ3z i'm sorry you lost your bird :( maybe have a look into the diet and amount of exercise you give your birds? Budgies need a diet full of fresh vegetables, leafy greens and other healthy food (not just seed) and at least an hour of exercise out of their cage each day to fly aroud. You also have to be very careful because birds are very good hiding sickness until it is too late, so you need to keep a close eye on them to make sure they are healthy. Good luck!

  • @TZ3z budgies only live up to 7 years but i think with good care they can live more take the oldest budgie in the world for e.g. he lived up to 20 my budgies also died at 6 and 7

  • @TZ3z Ahh, yes. Do you feed your birds seed mix? If so: then I can tell you that parakeets that eat seed mix instead of pellets live up to 7 years old, whilst pellet eating parakeets can live up to 10. A good brand is Harrisons pellets.

  • @lalujustice

Yes, that is an excellent brand. My birds seem to like seed more, but I do offer pellets and some eat those too. Plus they all get plenty of fruits and veggies. :)

  • do they have babies

  • @odeese

No they don't. I don't allow them to. The large wooden box is only for protection from wind, rain, cold weather, etc. It doesn't have a bottom so they can't nest inside of it.

  • You know you should have two layers of wire with a few inches in between each layer in an outdoor aviary, right? A predatory bird can reach through the wire with it's beak and grab a budgie clinging to it from the inside and kill it.

  • @gamewizard

Yes, I do realize that. Thanks for pointing that out so that others know the importance of having that protection. I have done exactly what you've explained since this video was taken three years ago. Thanks again. :)

  • @sootykitty

Oh boy, I just realized that I had seen this video before and made a similar comment. I have 14 budgies myself , 8 of which I bred myself, and they stay in indoor cages. One more point, you should have two doors, an inner one and an outer one and when you enter and leave and you should never have both of them open at the same time. It gives you a place where you can look around to make sure none of the birds have slipped out past the inner door before you open the outer door.

  • @gamewizard

Please watch the video again and you'll notice that there is a safety catch. That is a door that leads into a small compartment that allows me to close that door behind me and then open the door to the main aviary.

  • @sootykitty

Yes, I did see that I just put it in writing so others who may not have noticed that would know. I ran out of space so I had to change my wording a bit to get my entire comment to fit. :)

  • At 0:55 bottom right corner what is that white looking thing?

  • @AnimalGirl328

That is a piece of cuttle bone that fell from a holder on the side of the aviary.

  • @sootykitty I feel so stupid to ask this, what is a cuttle bone? i feel like a dumbass

  • @AnimalGirl328

No, don't feel that way. It is a calcium bone that is from a cuttle fish in the ocean. It is used to provide calcium to the birds and also gives them something to grind down their beak. You're not a dumbass. Never be afraid to ask questions. I'm always happy to answer. :)

  • @sootykitty You made me smile :)

  • how much did this "cage construction" (aviary) cost you ?

  • @mitraljez

The aviary itself cost $1500, but that doesn't include the dirt work, the framing, the toys, dishes, etc. I'd say if I totaled everything up it would be about $2000. It was an expensive venture, but I think it was well worth it. :)

  • @sootykitty thats not that bad... whats it made of ? stainles steel or ?

  • @mitraljez

I ordered it through a local bird store. The name of the manufacturer is Centurion Aviaries. They have a website but for some reason Youtube doesn't allow me to put it in the comments here. You can do a google search and find them that way. They come in several sizes and bar widths. The safety compartment is an option. I wouldn't do an aviary without one.

  • @sootykitty tyvm 4 info, best regards from slovenija

  • I have two budgies. One is tame and the other really isn't. They both talk though. I would love more in a large aviary like yours so I can take in some budgies that otherwise wouldn't have a home. How do they do outside? I'm worried about babies because I wouldn't want to add more, but I could always take the eggs and put in fake ones. I live where it snows so I'm not sure if I could have an outdoor aviary unless I took my birds in each night.

  • @happyinlove97

It would be great to take in more unwanted budgies. That's exactly what I do. The aviary is heated in the winter using heat lamps that don't emit light to keep it dark. Plus I live in Arizona where it stays fairly mid in the winter. I agree that I don't want to add more budgies, so I don't allow nesting. Those that do lay eggs do not have anywhere to nest, and I collect and dispose of any eggs that are laid. I don't have a need to use the fake eggs in the aviary.

  • :) i love budgies and german shepards! and where did you get all the birds?

  • i like how you filmed the whole video and i love the aviary! i also noticed the dog in the backround; a german shepard?

  • @budgie199

Thanks so much for your kind words. Yes, that is my German Shepard. He was a great dog. Sadly we lost him a year ago. He was 12. I'm glad you enjoyed my video. I have many others that I hope you'll watch too.

  • i love the cage, this could prolly cost u quite expensive but worth the cost i may say. regardsxx

  • I love this aviary where did u get the birds

  • Nice video!!! I love ur Aviary !! BUT I have to suggest u something, please u get rid of those mirrors, coz they can confuse with that !!

  • What is the flooring made of

  • @Prashmash

The flooring is crushed rock and sand that covers a hardware mesh to keep out rodents. It seems to do the job and it is buried deep enough that the birds don't come in contact with it.

  • @sootykitty does it decompose the poop?

  • @Prashmash

Not really. I clean out the bottom by raking it up and disposing of the waste.

  • I have a couple of questions because I plan to build an outdoor aviary for my birds.

How do you keep the birds warm/cool in extreme heat/cold?

Do the birds get mites or any parasites? How do you prevent mites/parasites?

Or how do you stop mosquitoes?

Do any predators ever try to find a way inside?

  • @GracefulAngel250

In the summer I use misting systems and fans. In the winter I use ceramic heat bulbs which don't emit light. I treat the birds for mites and parasites every six months by placing S76 in their water. There is no way to stop mosquitoes unless you place a net over the entire aviary. Mice are the biggest problem. A floor of 1/4" hardware mesh keeps them out. To keep cats and other birds away I have placed a bird netting over the entire aviary that is 1" away from the frame.

  • how to keep the warm in the winter?

  • @johnpaulox

I use ceramic heaters in the winter. They don't emit light so they don't disrupt the birds while they sleep.

  • its a paradise for those budgies :)

  • GREAT :D

  • Thanks for posting this, we play it for our lonely parakeet (we don't have space for more than one) and he loves it!

  • @B0Boman

I am so glad that he enjoys listening to the other budgies chatter away.

  • **hers

  • My grandma taught his to play cards with her and said Peter want a cracker LOL

  • how many budgies have you got there

  • @martin002ish

At the time this video was taken there were 25

  • This a wonderful idea! Did you find these Budgies or did you buy them *all*?

I just got a Budgie (1 week go) and he is very tame already.. but i really want to get another! But i don't have enough 'pocket money' and all my family members are at work/school for at least 6 hours every week day! I really hope he doesnt become untame or become depressed... Can you tell me what to do if i get a new Budgie!? Please

    Thanks! xx

  • How much did you buy the aviary?

  • @shadiasfar

The cost for the aviary was $1500 including the safety door

  • ooh 0_0 nice aviary you got there

im am such a big fan of budgies im so glad to see 50+ budgies in paradise

  • who pressed the dislike button >:(

  • my dad just built a mini aviary its alot of fun i just got 4 budgies though

  • @lectro28

That was nice of him to build that for you. Your budgies will be very happy in there.

  • 0:55 tell me thats not a dead parakeet to the right on the ground

  • @mrmonkeydog1

That is a broken cuttle bone and not a dead parakeet.

  • Best one I have ever seen. Where did u purchase it??

  • @Cesi313

You can purchase this aviary online or have a local bird store order one for you. The maker of this product is Centurion Aviaries and the model number is CWI-8561 for the aviary and CWI-4735SD for the safety door.

  • thats a really nice aviary you've got there :)

  • This aviary is awesome! i wish i had one

  • fliggin awesome. i have two lovebirds and two parakeets but they do not go along lol

  • NIce aviary! You make me want to get one. One Q though. How do you keep them away from the rain?????

  • What happens when it rains hard? =/

  • @Dillon1108

When it rains the go into the wooden box to seek shelter. That box is plenty big enough to hold them all. Fortunately, it rarely rains like that here in Arizona.

  • @sootykitty

Also, if you look closely at the video you'll see a cover over the half of the top. It also helps to keep them dry during a light rain.

  • You HAVE to have some of the prettiest budgies I've seen :) I'm jealous, my boy Gimli also enjoys your aviary

  • Hey there! Great video. Parakeets are my favorite bird. They are such an EASY pet to care for-- smart, funny, sociable and loving. Our family has one named Blueberry. He enjoys listening and chirping back to your budgies. You are so lucky to be able to have so many beautiful birds!! And your aviary is awesome! Thanks for posting.

  • @uget1shot

Thanks for your kind comments. I am so glad that your little Blueberry enjoys listening to the budgies in my aviary. It is so nice to know that the sounds of my aviary can bring some fun into your bird's life.

  • hi im getting a new avairy and wondering how many birds do you have?? do they breed?? thats it

    bye!

  • @321pudgie

I have about 30 parakeets in this aviary. I do not allow them to breed. They have a large box that they all use to get out of the weather, but that box doesn't have bottom. That way they can't build a nest. Thanks for watching my video. Hope this information helps answer your questions. :)

  • Aw, they all look so happy :)

  • That is a BEAUTIFUL aviary!

  • that's okay! but anyway thank you so much for your kind help and take care :D

  • I justLOVEyour aviary :D! how much did you buy it and where? if its under$500 I'll just buy an aviary but if its higher I'll just build one myself.and about the birds , did you adopt them or found them? and again sorry if im asking too much but I am planning to buy/build an aviary so I need some information. I am going to buy 10 parakeets first and I'll put nests to breed them because i love baby birds but i don't know where to buy parakeets I know petland but do you know anybreeder orsomething

  • @arkeljankushova

The aviary was $1500, but that doesn't include any of the toys, perches, flooring material, bowls, etc. So it is very costly to purchase and set it up correctly. As far as breeders go, I don't know any. I don't breed so I don't have any information on how to do so either. Sorry, but I can't help you with that.

  • @sootykitty The aviary for your cute birds is just great. I love it! the toys are great. My parakeet Charley was listening and watching your video on my pc a moment ago.

And my cockateel Cleo is his roommate. They have their own room and swings. It is a bit messy having them fly free all over the house. But I love them lots.Charley flew into my yard yrs ago with the sparrows and Cleo was no longer welcome at his old address. So I adopted them.

They are great together and Charley is the boss.

  • @charleycleo

Thanks for your kind comments. I think it is great that you allow your birds to have flight. That is what they were meant to do. You're a dear to take in Charley and Cleo into your home and your heart. They sound very well loved. Adopted birds (or any animals for that matter) are always such a joy, aren't they? You'll have to play my cockatiel aviary video for Cleo.

  • hey @sootykitty ! where did you buy the parakeets , is it a pet store or a breeder (I only have two budgies they are still babies now I bought them in petland, it is a good store to buy pets) and did you built the shelter box yourself or did you buy it and about your toys, I LOVE THEM

  • @arkeljankushova

Thanks for your kind comments. All the parakeets are rescued birds, so I didn't purchase any of them. The aviary was purchased at a local bird store and comes as a kit that you assemble on your property. The box inside that gives them shelter was custom made by an individual that makes nesting boxes. Mine doesn't have a bottom because I don't want to encourage breeding. I hope that answers your questions. If not, just write me back. :)

  • how many parakeets do you have ? [sorry if im asking too much but im planning to build a parakeet aviary for like a week from now and i like that aviary sooo much]

  • @arkeljankushova

You're not asking to many questions. I'm always more than willing to help. There are about 30 parakeets in this aviary. I wish you great success with yours. Let me know if I can help you get set up. Take care and thanks for watching. :)

  • It is sooo cool

  • what dimensions does the aviary have ?

  • @arkeljankushova

The size of the aviary is 5' wide by 7' long by 7' tall.

  • Comment removed

  • what happens when it rains ?

  • @arkeljankushova

I have installed a cover over the top of it so that it keeps the rain out. Also the birds can go into the shelter box to get out of the wind and rain. The box doesn't have a bottom on it, so it isn't a nest box. It is just there for shelter. It has lots of perches in there so there is plenty of room for everyone.

  • ur parakeet avairy is so so soooooooooooooo sweet, no words can describe it, coz of ur hardwork and dedication the right kind of happy and playful environment u have created for them is so swesome, i also have parakeets and they bring so much happyness in life, their naughty antics, chirpings really make me happy and seeing this video i must say that you are doing a good service to humanity that you look after these birdies so much, god exists in every creatures,, god bless u.

  • @lifezamazing1

Thanks so very much for your kind words. I really enjoy these beatiful creatures that I've been entrusted with. They really are a joy to have. I can spend hours just watching them and listening to their playful chatter.

  • Very very nice! You did a great job with this wonderful aviary!! (I also have a heart for adopted and homeless birds - but sorry for my terrible English ...)

  • @Kathiparadies

Thanks for your nice comment. I love them too. Your English is just fine. :)

  • very COOL!!

  • very nice

  • This is a wonderufl fim and a great cage wish I could afford one to have mine happy, I only have two and I let them out of the cage so they can fly around the room and take a bath and be happy. My son gave them to me for Christmas. Could you tell me some clues in how to breed them? Congratulations!

  • @anabelle5222

Thanks for your kind comments about my aviary. Parakeets are such sweet little guys. I'm glad that you give yours the freedom to fly around the house. That is such great exercise for them. I don't have information regarding breeding. I don't breed mine. They are all rescued birds from all kinds of situations. I just didn't think it was a good idea to breed. I'm sure that if you look on Youtube for breeding parakeets you'll find some great information. Good luck to you.

  • @sootykitty Thanks for your response, your birds are beautiful, such a good idea to rescue them and

they all look sooo happy, congratulations, good work!

  • this is my dream come true!!

  • I love the aviay! and also how you slowly pan around the cage, including the bottom and from outside. Good filming, happy budgies. Congrats!

  • Those are some happy budgies. Well done.

  • Great job on a happy home for these birds! What a beautiful aviary. Those birds are so happy!

  • grtertert

  • Hey! how do u keep them warm in the winter?

  • @kennyhappywang

I use Ceramic Heat Bulbs, the kind used by zoos for reptiles, to keep the birds warm. The bulbs are great because they don't emit any light, just heat. That way the birds don't have their sleep disturbed. :)

  • Late at night im gonna put a cat in there

    dun dunnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnaaaaaah!

  • Thanks so much for your pointers!

  • We love this video!! My daughter would like to have the same large cage as you do for our parakeets, would you please tell us how to order this cage or did you make it by yourself? Thanks a lot!!

  • @sophycheng2009

Thanks for your kind comments. The aviary cage is available at many different online bird cage stores. If you do a Google search on "walk in aviary" you will find them. It is made by A&E Cage Co., but they don't sell them direct, you have to buy from on of their distributors. It sells for about $1500 which includes the aviary and the walk in saftey catch. The one I have is the larger one. It is 5'widex7'longx6'tall, but they make a smaller one that is 4'x4'. Goodluck!

  • @speakloud4justice1

Thanks for your kind comments. The aviary is 5' wide by 7' long and 7' high. There are about 25 parakeets living in the aviary. I think they love the freedom of flying about inside.

  • Budgies have more energy, move faster, and are more aggressive than cockatiels, and the two should not be caged together, especially if the parakeets outnumber the cockatiels. Budgies have been known to incessantly harass a cockatiel until it gets sick and dies. There are lots of cockatiels that need homes though - maybe you need a separate cockatiel aviary - you could fill it in no time. BTW...very cute parakeets and very nice of you to take them in and give them a good life!!

  • @susan987654

Maybe there is some misunderstanding. There are no cockatiels in this aviary. I do have another aviary with cockatiels. That is another video I posted. Thanks for the kind comments. I try the best I can to give them all a great life with a flock of their own kind. They seem pretty happy. :)

  • @sootykitty Sorry, I thought one of the comments said you were going to add a cockatiel to the aviary. I must've read it wrong. Love your video. I can watch and listen to a bunch of happy parakeets all day :-)

  • @susan987654 i know theres no tiels but where do u see 1???????

  • Ok if I was a budgie I would LOVE to poop here!

  • LOL The two budgies at 1:34 look EXACTLY like mine!

  • @pileofpwnge Wow same here

  • I love what you're doing - the parakeets seem so happy with the huge aviary, room to fly - and they're outside. It's wonderful!

  • My parakeet loved listening to this video, she fell asleep to it. By the way where did you get the aviary? And do you re-home your keets?

  • is that a dead parakeet on the side that i saw at 0:54? and also what do you do when it rains?

  • @emilylol7

No, that's not a dead bird, it is a cuttle bone that fell to the ground. For protection from rain I have a cover now that keeps it out, plus they have the large wooden box with lots of perches where they can take cover from wind too.

  • What a wonderful thing you are doing. I, too, have been taking in keets and have an indoor aviary albeit no nearly as big or as nice as yours.

God bless you for wgat you are doing. The birds are very happy!

  • @coloradolady2001

Thanks for your kind comments. I'm in the process of purchasing a larger aviary to house all the parakeets. It will be 6' x 13' and I will add the cockatiels in there too. I just got in a cockatiel a few days ago & 2 parakeets the weekend before that. They are in quarantine right now. They will join the flock after that. An indoor aviary is a nice thing to have. I'm glad that you are taking in those that need a place to go. I know how rewarding it is! Take care.

  • Oooohhh! I love all these parakeets! They are beautiful. My budgie is sitting next to the computer speaker and chirping along with them. Of course, he's also bobbing this way and that trying to figure out where they are!!! Enjoy your birds. "Blueberry" brings alot of joy and cheer around our house. They are great pets, aren't they? Thank you for posting!

  • You love your parakeets and takes good care of them :-)

  • This aviary is dangerous for the birds. A hawk or other predatory bird can reach through the bars with it's beak and grab any budgie that might be clinging on inside the bars. There should be double bars or double wire several inches apart on any outdoor aviary to prevent this.

  • @gamewizard

You're right. I should mention that I have erected a fence around the aviary that includes a cover to prevent that from happenning. Thanks for pointing that out so that others understand the danger. I need to update the video and the description to reflect the changes.

  • Don'tthse cages cost over $1000? I wish I had a cage like yours.:)

  • @LukeWifi

Yes, they are very expensive. This one was $1500, and that doesn't include any of the toys, perches, ground prep, bird house, covering, feeders, etc. I don't plan on breeding these birds because I feel that there are too many that need homes and I don't want to "make" more when there are so many already. Thanks for watching the video. I'm glad that you enjoyed it. :)

  • that was socutei cant wait till i get my own

  • whoa, that is just beautiful!!!

a big cage, now thats a big house (:

I'm so sorry you lost 5 of your birds. How very sad. Thanks for your kind comments. I have other aviaries too. One has 17 Cockatiels, one has Zebra Finches and the other has two Lovebirds. I also have parrots that live inside my home. I have many videos on here, so I hope you get a chance to look at them so you can see some of my other rescue birds. I wish the best for you and your birds.
