Is there a Quaker parrot adoption program that you can adopt the quakers that are captured from the electric companies when they take down their nest. Because it would be better to adopt them than to buy the ones in the pet stores.
@tiel4307 When I make trips out to the city, which used to be a few times a year but my life has gotten SUPER busy, I would place them for adoption once they were weaned and for the older, near-fledglings, tamed down a bit. There are many many quakers in rescues all around the country as some people just don't do their research before getting one.
@xsarabearx1 yes, they are very sturdy and very funny birds, given their small size. They're also inexpensive compared to other parrot species.
Of the birds I got until now, the quakers were always the boldest and cutest of them all; they love to cuddle and pet you. Just make sure to spend a good amount of time with them, like with any other bird really.
Awl! That is so cute! :) I want a Quaker so bad! They seem like little entertainers and just an overall fantastic pet to have!! :) Thanks for posting!
I have two and looks like I will be adopting my third soon. Rex (formerly Apples) is the best though! Banana is my DE Yellow and I should be adopting a Blue soon. I can't wait! Of all of the birds, THEY are the best!
@coco1691 i took care of a wild quaker for a little bit. he loved flying to me and my sister and my mother. theyre really playful (they bite when theyre playing) but sometimes a bit too hard. theyre very social animals and live with large groups of quakers so i would guess that they can become attached to multiple people like other pets.
they really are actually =) VERY entergetic and mine is very sweet has only bitten me once (i had bright polish on my fingers) and is fairly queit compare to some of my preivous birds =)
