and for those who keep saying that "those trimarans are not going to last at sea" well the Trimaran Banque Populaire just went around the world in 45 days, averaging 26.5 knots, and reaching 45 knots at times. Can you imagine any monohull staying together at those speeds? Meanwhile the Open 60 monohull Hugo Boss is still on the bottom - hasn't moved an inch.
Some people are small minded. Focus on the sailing and sailing fast!! You push the limits whatever boat you sail and sometimes you push to hard - you get wet. Everyone should appreciate the fact that a small 31 ft trailable day sailer can make you feel like a millionaire and a racer at the same time, without having to be one!
To me it matters not. Either way I pick up a survivor. I sail commercially and once the EPIRB 407 is heard we respond. If it is the mono hull and they are in the life raft then bare with us you are a small target. Get your sponsor to have a transponder aboard the life raft. The multi will be a bigger visual. To both you messed up.
"However, the relative publicity given to multihull capsizes compared to monohull sinkings is way out of proportion, due to the unsinkable multihull stubbornly staying around to where photos can be taken, while the monohull abandons the crew and quietly sinks from sight."
'Toy float sailors'? 'Multihull moron'? And you say get a life? I'm yet to understand WHY some people can't appreciate both mono's and multi's. Its really quite depressing.
productiondesignerMAx is a nub and multis are just as good as monos he should shut the fuck up. and you are correct. YOu should check out cheeke monkey capsizing. See what the same guy wrote. But i totally agree with you.
ProductionDesigner: No one is stopping you from buying a conventional mono, but in doing so you must accept that cheaper, smaller boats will be able to overtake you without any effort. If you enjoys spending money on boats that cost more and offer less performance, then go right ahead and buy what you want; its your money.
Redshift is infact a F82R, I sailed on this boat for nearly a year when it was based in Brisbane, during that time no F9R were able to pass it like that, the new rags on Redshift look good though.
ha ha. the Open 60 fights for every .50 kts of boat speed, while the Tri blows by effortlessly, plus no extreme healing. Also at about 1/10th or less of the cost. Nice. Gotta love it.
@ProductionDesignrMAX haha i love hearing this one yeah we know the natural position of a multi is upside down but the natural position of a mono is the bottom of the ocean floor

Actually, Hugo Boss was lost at sea, and is currently on the bottom of the Southern Ocean. The F-31/F-9A Skandia is still sailing.

And to add to that....
This from the tri designer Ian farrier himself
"However, the relative publicity given to multihull capsizes compared to monohull sinkings is way out of proportion, due to the unsinkable multihull stubbornly staying around to where photos can be taken, while the monohull abandons the crew and quietly sinks from sight."

The comment about the stability (3 down not coremeister)

Another multihull moron huh?

As usual, the strength of lead movers arguments is inversly proportional to their rudeness.

As usual, toy float sailers trying to learn to go to weather. Get a life and check out rudeness - fuck off even!

Also the slower tri is an F28R not an F82R.

Correction: The Farrier overtaking is F9-R, "Wilparina II" not an F-31

But the open 60 can cross and OCEAN, only an idiot crosses oceans on a vessel that is MORE stable upside down then right side up.
ProductionDesignrMAX 4 years ago
I can't even BEGIN to describe how stupid this comment is, really I've tried but it aint possible!
scottofford1 4 years ago
The "non-idiotes" uses a boat that is MOST stable at the bottom of the OCEAN
