  • Can't wait to see them in december :D

  • zajefajne

  • Perfect

  • Love it!

  • Beautiful....

  • fan bloody tastic ... always loved the manics.. always sound good.

  • i just wanted to say this sounds awesome live : )

  • Manics should do an acoustic album with all of their top-hits!

  • aha NICKY! :D

  • love this..great acoustic version.. love the manics never let you down..

  • i like the guy with the tambourine, he looks mad xD and is it just me or are James' eyes really close together?... and Nicky is kinda just sitting there, he isnt moving as much as everyone else xD wheres Sean?

  • Excellent. :D

  • James is hot here isn't it :P

  • I love the song, with and without Nina Persson :)

  • Such a beautiful song!

  • I love the fact that nicky wire is still playing his normal bass

  • who's the extra guy?

  • wayne murray

  • jouw lavalamp

  • haha :P Wat moet dit voorstellen?

    Een Nederlands Misheard lyric?

  • i like the version with nina from the cardigans better but well done good at glastonbury i went lol:)

  • Flawless :)

  • Superb

  • :D :)

  • (:)

  • they do do accoustic so beautifully don't they? sound quality is great, but james could sound good in an abatoire with no mike on his own suffering from 'flu he's that talented! God save the manics!

  • James's voice is stunning.

  • wheres sean??

  • This version is a bit sing-a-longy. I know it's that kinda song, but it's like a karaoke scout's version. But hey, still love James et al.

  • I love this version

  • Is the other guitarist a Nicky Wire family member??

  • james toured the solo album 'the great western' with a band that included Wayne Murray who continued to play guitar for Manics in live performances since ^^

  • Look like him, doesn't he!!

  • I wonder how you go about becoming the tambourine player. I reckon I could handle that.

  • i duno man i know alot guys who went down that road its full of cheap thrills and one night stands and the end you will just feel empty and wonder wat u did wit your life

  • I'd like to see a purely acoustic gig. Their cover of 'Been a Son' is one of the finest things i've ever heard.

  • utterly amazing, sensational front man and band.

  • RICHEY IS BACK!!

    oops, no.

  • aww you got me excited there!

  • what`s the name of this guitar?? Is somebody know?

  • james dean bradfeild

  • I think they are Taylor guitars. James probably has a 400 series and Wayne has a 600 (he must have more money!)

  • Manic Street Preachers, Best Band Ever

  • I have seen the Manics twice this year, Reading Hexagon & more recently at the BIC (Sunday) and they are still very, very intense... a great live band (the best).

It isn't fair to judge their ability to deliver live music based on this acoustic session (which clearly has its own qualities). Great post.

  • their last album sounds great but when i see them on stage i can't feel anymore the intensity of the past years...since the holy bible i think ! the ambiance was unique at that time.

But never mind they release good records now, they are great songwriters despite that.

  • i can't believe people on here are actually saying manics can't play live. Also the band never go on about Richey so I don't see why everyone else needs/feels they have the right to.

  • Hey, everybody's entitled to an opinion..... shame yours is total gobshite mind, but there ya go ;^)

Love this song; love the album; long may they continue

  • total shite sold out yrs ago they said yrs ago they would never get a guitar playing to replace richey looks like they have.......

  • oh and they also must of said hey we cant have a guy playing tamobrine either.

    Total sell outs yeah.....

    Shut up :)

  • they suck live

  • have you actually seen them live may I ask?

  • this makes me dont want to..

  • So you have not seen them live and are making a judgment on an accoustic version of a song yes?

Okay, well shhh. Until you have actually seen a band "live". Then you have a right to comment if they suck live or not. So quit your jibba jabba =)

  • i ment to say No right to comment.

  • no wait I never.

This is me after a couple of bloody vodkas.

So I am not reading what am actually saying right at all aha.

  • I have not heard them live, but every Manic clip here on youtube, that's not recorded in a studio, I think sounds bad.and I wish it wasn't true, cus I really like this song(studio version), but I have yet to have the pleasure of listening to Manic perform it well live.. whats the point in making a radio hit, when you're not able to perform it live?? anybody can make a song sound awesome, when you've been in a million dollar studio for months and months..

if u cant play live, u cant play..

  • shut the f*ck up, if you don´t heard them live, then don´t say anything.

  • the guitarist is called wayne, cant remember his second name, he is froma band called, boy called wolf i think. he was in james solo band when he was touring the great western. and there is a new keyboard player called sean, i also cant remember his last name, but nick naysmythe or however its spelt was the manics keyboard player for a long time.

  • The guitarist is called Wayne Murray. He did begin playing backing guitar for James on his solo dates, and he has since taken over from Guy Massey as backing guitarist for MSP.

The keyboard (and saxaphone) player is called Sean Reid, who also played with James's band back in October last year, and continued on to play with the Manics. Nick Naysmith didn't go on tour with the band this spring as his wife had just had another baby (according to Seanus Morrus).

  • @foreverdelayedforum good knowledge!

  • hey james only haz 4 strings on his gutar! ha! and i got in trouble 4 breaking my bros gutar string! (wich i didnt do!) lol james and nicky r great! luv them! x wow and tht guy is realy lucky gettin 2 play with the manics! go him (HM who ever he is...!)

  • um he dose have 4 strings on his guitar lol. somtimes you cant see the cos the bottom 2 strings are thin

  • James does have all 6 strings, just look at the intro, check below the top 4, there are to blackish lines, they are the strings, just hard to see, plus if he didn't the intro wouldn't sound right! but i see what ya mean, they are not very visible! :)

  • who is this guitar player ??? don't like him even if he plays better than richey.

  • I think hes the touring guitarist,

    He was at glastonbury aswell.

    Dunno his name.

  • your sad to point out tht stuff try just lovein the music

  • Hes a bit rusty(the main guy) at 00:38-00:45.!
