You are correct. It's not illegal to video/photo anyone, including kids and police, from a public space. Don't let police give you any nonsense if they use anti-terrorism laws saying you can't film them. If you are harassing somebody, then you may get questioned for a Public Order Offence, but that's not specifically a photography law.

You are correct. It's not illegal to video/photo anyone, including kids and police, from a public space. Don't let police give you any nonsense if they use anti-terrorism laws saying you can't film them. Say that you are reporting them for misuse of Section 58A of the Terrorism Act 2000, they'll get a right bollocking for it. :D
If you are harassing somebody, then you may get questioned for a Public Order Offence, but that's not specifically a photography law.
